Us Irish think we know what Celtic music is. It was only when I stumbled upon Faun and Omnia that I realized what Celtic music really is

Bullshit. The best Celtic music is Scottish ( I'm raised a Scot ;) ) and definitely Irish. Clannad's Siul a run is far superior to this, albeit the song is beautiful in German as well and this rendition is gorgeous. The epitome of great, mournful Celtic music is Mo Ghille Mear sung by your very own, the "Choral Scholars of University College Dublin." Nothing I've heard stirs my Celtic blood more than that rendition, sung in Gaelic.

What does liebsten mean?

..is the superlativ to "lieb" (dear) and also related to "Liebe" (love), so can also be translated as "most loved/favored" (person/item)

Basically it sounds like Siuil a run/ruin

Either they copied Celtic Women or Celtic Women copied them

...or both offer cover versions of that great song.
However Faun was adding independent lyrics to that melody!
Of course both were adjusting the song to their specific style.

The melody is original irish - the text is from FAUN. I think FAUNs version is older than the Celtic Women one.

So, consider the difference in translation. I always was taught that Weh is more of an "Ugh" sort of idea. So imagine the translation in my head "Ugh, I'm sad" versus "Woe is me, my heart is heavy". Lol
