Faun - The Market Song Lyrics
On a fine evening fair in the month of April
Over the hill came the sun with a smile
And the folks they were throngin' the roads everywhere
Makin' haste to be in at the Copshawholme Fair
I've seen 'em a-comin' from mountains and glens
With a joy in their heart and unburdened o' care
A-meetin' old friends at the Copshawholme Fair
Whoever joined our gathering
And danced under the garlands green
Will never be the same again
Now rest your head and stay a while
And dwell with us the summer's night
And you'll never be the same again
Jugglers and tumblers and folks with no arms
There's a ballad-singer here and a fiddler there
Nut-men and spice-men at Copshawholme Fair
There are peddlers and potters and gingerbread stands
Peepshows and popping-darts and green caravans
There's fruit from all nations exhibited there
With kale plants from Orange at Copshawholme Fair
Whoever joined our gathering
And danced under the garlands green
Will never be the same again
Now rest your head and stay a while
And dwell with us the summer's night
And you'll never be the same again
You came a long way, you traveled for so long
Now rest your head before the summer's gone
Meet us in the sunny fields and meet us in the greenwood deep
And step in our faerie ring 'cause you'll never ever ever be the same again
When the hiring is over, off they all sprang
Into the ballroom for to join in the throng
And "I Never Will Lie With My Mammy Nae Mair"
The fiddles play briskly at Copshawholme Fair

EEEEEK THEY HAVE A SONG IN ENGLISH YAY i just found this group this April and I. Am. Hooked. I keep saying I need to learn German so I can understand their beautiful music.
I thought the same but then had an epiphany.....I could feel the words no matter what language....its music so its all feeling...I too am a big huge fan!!
Do not cancel the comments for this song please it is beautiful one. Respect from the Irish Gaels and Celts.
Also known as "Copshawholme Fair", also performed by Steeleye Span :)
Great song !
Fun Fact: When they sing "summer," they really mean "spring," since waaaay back in the day, the word "spring" was not used to describe the season!
Thats interesting. I wonder when they started using the word Spring to describe a Season..
In English, at least, I think it wouldn't have been until around Shakespeare's time. I can't remember the exact date of it, but the first spring poem - one that used "summer" to describe the season, was written before the 15th century by a Scotsman. I didn't really recall it until after listening to this song, which describes a time during April as summer.
A wonderful song. What a great feeling it gives to us !

I fell in love with this song. I suddenly found myself closing my eyes and waving my head to the music. I love the chorus. I would love to join that dance.

I can play whatever I want, you know. Don't you have something better to do?
I know this song from Steeleye Span! Their version is called 'Copshawholme Faire". So good to see music being shared by different cultures and generations.
it's pretty great regardless of where it's played
No offence, but this has nothing to do with middle age music (I mean this song, not entire production of the band).
No problem Padme !
Thanks :)
No - English accent :)
two people weren't allowed in the market...

Lovin' this song:)
European folk/medieval is probably one of the coolest, and most whimsical styles of music I've ever heard. c:
Not really I think, maybe it seems a little bit like it because the band is originally german.
Good to know. c:
Is it sung with scottisch Accent? :)
Just a question :)
Yes, actually I thought about that. :D At the time I wrote that comment, I was playing WoW and listening to Faun at the same time. I kind of associated those two in a way.
It's European...
