@Osman Tuzlu according to the booklet the instruments are: mandocello, hurdy-gurdy, recorders (classic flute), hammered dulcimer and frame drums.

I just love this prononciation, and the story, which is so sad, but gives hope..

I love the fact that in the real tale - Agneta and the Sea King - the girl just doesn't give any marbles about her children and the sea king and stays on top of the surface with her dad. Deadass tells the sea king to F off.

Es geht um einen Wassermann, der in einem See lebt und an diesem See liegt eine Burg in der die schöne, junge Lilofee lebt. Der Wassermann wirbt um sie und heiratet sie. Sie leben im See und sie gebährt ihm sieben Kinder, doch eines Tages als sie die Glocken in der Burg hört, bekommt sie Sehnsucht nach ihrem einstigen zu Hause und der Wassermann spürt, dass sie am liebsten wieder ihr altes Leben leben würde. Um sie zum bleiben zu zwingen gibt er ihr die Wahl zu gehen und alles zu teilen und das wortwörtlich, er offeriert ihr die Kinder zu teilen... Und sie sagt bevor ihren Kindern ein Leid geschieht kommt sie lieber wieder zurück zu ihm.

Love Faun. Funny story my boss apparently speaks German and despite working with me for three years he failed to pick up the fact German is my second language because we have dual citizenship to Germany as my grandmother was a war bride when my grandfather was stationed in Stuttgart. I came in one day singing along to Faun and he stops what he's doing and asks me if I actually know what I'm singing so without skipping a beat I translated to English. Now he likes yelling across the store for me in German 🤣

I find it sad that german americans are "proud" of thier german skills but dont come to Germany and help germany.

Otto Normalverbraucher I as a german american would love to go to germany but it is far too expensive to just fly over sea and find a way to work there with a desirable skill. Its very very hard especially since many millennials can barely afford basic living over here

I find, the German goverment should help come people like you to germany who alredy can speak german and understand the germans, insted of impoting People from completly opposide foreging cultures who cant speak german and dont understand or sometimes dont respect our values. So muchtch money is spend on integration and Deutschkurse but this whole money integrating and German teaching can be safed and used for better things. Why not only bring people who are skilled and speak German good and understand the culture? Why only bring foregin completly non western people to Germany who outnumber Germans in some Citiys insed helpng come educated, skilled, German speaking, People here who understand our culture more?

Language doesn't matter in music anyway. Most Germans listen to English music although they don't understand a single word. This is no problem for them. Only from English speaking people I read answers like yours :-P

Ich liebe die Mittelalterliche Musik von Faun sehr.
So schön Mystische. Es werden spannende Geschichten erzählt. Die Lilofee erinnert mich ein bisschen an das Urteil von Salomo im Streit zwischen 2 Frauen die sich um ein Kind streiten. Als er die Anweisung gibt das Kind mit dem Schwert zu teilen, so dass jede die Hälfte bekommt. Die Wahre Mutter sie verzichtet, damit das Kind am Leben bleibt. So sind wir liebenden Mütter -Väter nun einmal. Heute gibt es andere Möglichkeiten. Doch die arme junge Lilofee lebte im Tiefsten Mittelalter. Da gab es so einige wilden Wassermänner :-(

No dialect. Just german. The text is sung in an older german language that could have been medieval.

"Von den Elben", which is sung in medival german.

Well I'd been told certain words had different pronunciations depending on where in Germany you are. For instance s's are held out longer in the south.

@Honigtod Well i would say the text itself is modern german but the word order is left on some older german diction and a lot of words are of older german diction too.

Hello! I am not from Germany, but I truly like this song, it is beautiful. I also speak some German, but I must admit, I dont understand the last part of the song: "Eh, daß ich die Kinder teilen lass vor der Burg wohl über dem See,

But it could also mean she goes back into the lake because she parts with the grass and leaves but I'm not sure on the interpretation.

@Catjar I tbh don't hear the High German anymore but I'm German met my gf in Bayern and there they have their own dialect the Bavarian German, Not that i can't understand but it is a bit weird to hear. I bet most will say that from the Bavarian German so i don't judge any version i like it

Ich bin ganz ehrlich: Ich hab ja nen Faible für alles was im Mittelalter-Stil gehalten ist, aber ich kapier den allerletzten Satz nicht. Soll das heißen sie bringt sich lieber um als das 7. Kind zu zerteilen, oder was? xD

Sie geht zurück mit dem Wassermann in sein Reich. Da ist Laub und Gras eher selten XD

Lilofee hatte Sehnsucht nach ihren Eltern und das Leben jenseits vom Reich des Wassermannes. Sie ist abgehauen und hat ihre Kinder zurückgelassen. Der Wassermann erinnert sie daran, was sie zurückgelassen hat und das ihre Kinder traurig sind, da die Mutter fort ist. Lilofee will sich nicht ganz trennen von der Welt da oben und auch nicht von ihren ganzen Kindern. Sie schlägt vor: drei Kinder bekommst du und drei ich. Aber es sind sieben Kinder und damit droht der Wassermann ihr. Das siebte Kind wird geteilt (also getötet) und das kann Lilofee als Mutter nicht ertragen und kehrt lieber der Welt den Rücken zu als eines ihrer Kinder sterben zu lassen. Sie bleibt für immer im Reich des Wassermannes.
