Fates Warning - White Flag Lyrics
You've looked through eyes
Under darkened skies
Your world was standing still
No one's going to take your soul away
But innocence was gone, it's gone
No surrender, don't give up
Never carry that white flag
No surrender, now get up
Rise and bury your white flag
In the days that followed you
A new heart now is born
You'll never be alone
Never carry that white flag
No surrender, now get up
Rise and bury your white flag
And as days pass along
Know you've done no wrong
Few know sorrow as you did
You've made it, you've made it
As life dims and fades away
Like shadows in vain
And when all light is gone
I'll be there, waiting
The echoes there
Were more than most could bare
Yet no regrets at all
No one's going to take your soul away
It's all your own
But innocence was gone
No surrender, don't give up
Never carry that white flag
No surrender, now get up
Rise and bury your white flag

Fates Warning White Flag Comments
One of their best album thats for sure ....keep metal
Bobby Jarzombek is a drum god
Frank Aresti belongs in Fates Warning again.
Easy Bass line
why the fuck didn't Bobby or Harrison or ZONDER not get a shot at the DT audition?..real proggers not the death metal drummers they brought in..totally different feel and styles Joey and Jim are both excellent on this..Jim takes a Petrucci esque sound on the solo..nice
Bobby was asked to audition but declined, theres a video where he talks about it somewhere on youtube.
Which Kick pedal is Bobby Using
and fates warning is not doing another??????
This is what beauty is ♥ /,,/
Great song,and playing
Been a fan of this band since day one. I think I just dated myself.
Bobbyfuckingjarzombek
Bobby is unique in the way he combines accuracy, precision, and sense of fluidity...
Bobby was only Dream Theater audition invite who said, "let me think about it."
Big Lebowksi on the drums?
Slap dat bass Vera!
Bad ass. Bobby is so original and brilliant in his execution🔥
yeah, i"m good face 5:18
Fan forever !
Bobby Jarzombek rules !!!! \m/,
Joey is a amazing bassist and Bobby kills it on drums!!
more more from this work please!
bobby is a alien. he plays barefoot and open handed with the ride cymbal on his left and has cymbals behind him. he is a very unique musician.
..and, he's a great guy, too!!!!
this song is so f****** good
37.461 whats wrong ?
im surrrender from anithink
Strong as death!
Guys, maybe I'll be a discordant voice. I like very much Bobby, I think it's a great drummer but the refined style of Mark Zonder is crazy and I prefer it. I think Mark is unsurpassed!
agree..but Bobby is an amazing and worthy replacement...i dont think its easy to replace Mark Zonder..They are blessed to have Bobby..Mark was the best ever..that we know..!!!
Getting Bobby Jarzombek was like Rush getting Peart was hoping he'd join Dream Theater but wasn't interested that Spastic Ink album he did with his Brother Ron was just plain sick time signatures
You have to wonder why anybody would turn down DT. I mean freakin Mike Mangini literally cried when he got it and beat out some of the best drummers in the world. I think it might have been intimidating or maybe cause he knew Ray and his band from the early years he might have wanted to play with him. They're both from S.A. originally. He did say he was never in a band that knew their parts with such self sufficiency.
infonator1 I’m rather late in replying but he didn’t have time to learn the songs and they would’ve had to schedule a special audition just for him
Bobby said he had a feeling that Portnoy would return, since he didn't think DT would go on without Portnoy for long. Anyway I'm happy he turned down DT, since Fates is composing much more interesting music anyway.
That Ride Cymbal, sound amazing.
JarZombek monster drummer
that is one sexy e-ii bass!
That accuracy is magic
This band is TIGHT!!!
The song is fucking great!
This is awesome!
Playing drums barefoot is the best way to play.
are those like self made custom pedals?
fucking bobby and vera......kick ass.
i was really upset when mark zonder left the group. his style clearly influenced and meshed with jims writing. his work on apsog to me is just damn near revolutionary, it changed the way i view the instrumment. obviously then i was skeptical of the addition of bobby jarzombek even after watching the mindblowing work he did with his brother in spastic ink. this man is a true musician and proved my apprehension to be totally unnecessary.
I agree with you about both drummers. I got sad too. And sad about Aresti leaving as well. But Bobby is so technical and savy! He knows the most absolute perfect beat for any given song. He even adds more character to the song by his imput!
Mark Zonder left enormous shows to fill, but Bobby brought his own pair of shoes that fit FW's modern style perfectly.
Joey Vera plays the correct and perfect bass note every single time. His contributions to FW should not be over looked. Bobby J is outstanding as well.
Man. Bobby's holding back so much! Such a clean, appropriate style.
next time just drums please, nothing against bass, but Jarzombek is THE MAN!
Falling back in love with Fates Warning. Some 20 years.....
Awesome band! Always a big influence!
Please, upload Bobby's parts and Vera's parts separately. I'd like to see playthrough for all songs :) As I have no possibility to come and watch them live. But this guys big inspiration for me and I learn from them :).
I do believe I've found a new band to listen to!
Joey is awesome, but no offense, I want to see Bobby!
Watch his live DVD on youtube. Believe me when I say it's fucking insane
So glad that Jarzombek is on board. He's the fkn man! \m/
wow! I thought mark was an interesting drummer but bobby has got his own bad ass style
Creativity wise Bobby can compete with Mark imo. They both have different strengths apart from that. Bobby's naturally more intense and aggressive, while Mark is gifted with his subtlety and nuances
Bobby is the master. Where could I found his cymbals setup?
This is a song to be listened loud, v. loud. Can´t imagine wacht that performance live, oh I hope so.....much.
Joey is such a great bassist, but on the last 2 albums he's contained himself and his bass is too low in the mix. A damn shame
Bass doesn't look too difficult. I think I could do that :)
So go there and play for us, good lucky!
The basslines are indeed simplistic in their nature but that's how they enhance the overall sound, because the bass notes are where they are supposed to be in each riff getting a tight and heavy sound for the rhythm section and supporting the guitars. Imho it's more difficult to play with simple basslines and find the right notes that cut through in a demanding song than overdoing it.
V. well said.
@quorthon1204 Sometimes, yes, but I think Joey was a bit under-utilized on this album.
Smart young man playing Bass. He replaced that standard Fender bridge with a High Mass Bridge. The BadAss II Bass Bridge is all that makes Geddy Lee's Jazz Bass sound so Hot!!
PS: O don't believe that "High Mass" has to mean "heavy" it just means that it is a denser metal.
Joey Vera isn't that young anymore - lol But he is a great bassist.
Joey Vera is a amazing bassist!!
He didn't replace any Fender bridge... it's an ESP he's playing. ;)
looks 'forever young' though
Congratulations guys!! Joey and Bobby: Masters in your instruments!! Viva Fates!!!!
sick!!!! Bobby Jarzombek
Amazing! I love this band! Bobby Jarzombek fantastic!
Great Musicians!
Was hoping for this.....thank you so much guys...this shit means a lot to some.......
the dude abides
Killer back hand technique . This is bought !
Love this band so much....they're pretty awesome as always!! FW forever!
Haha! I love Bobby's Rear Cymbals :D He hits them so effortlessly. Joey is pure emotion when he plays :).
Jolly Roger!
Great job guys, firts guitars and now the "kitchen" bass&drums. Two non original FW members, but awesome musicians. I feel like Joey is a co-founder of this band, he enhanced so much the sound of the band. Zonder is out of comparison (best prog drummer ever, along w/ Neil Peart and Carl Palmer, in my humble opinion). But Bobby was good replacement anyway.
Mark Zonder is from another planet!
Bobby is probably the best replacement they could have found
Yes he is!
Agree w/ you.
Bobby is a great replacement yes.
The great Vera, the master... the EPIC Bobby Jarzombek,
just saw the video once...20 times more to go..
awesome band monday i get the album by mail.
Bobby's brain is wired differently than on a regular person... that enables this level of drumming... superb!
yes, indeed!
It's in their God damn genes
PoSscar bobbys good but to say hes wired different belings to tomas haake now thats a freak thats truely wired different
He's a great fit for Fates Warning, filling in Mark Zonder's shoes.. They each have a very unique approach to writing their parts.
For example..

Bobby Beast.
Hopefully Bobby will setup with those crash cymbals behind him during the tour too!
I don't know why he stopped using them. He had them on his DVD. That's when I saw them initially. So badass
damn thats some precision drumming
Bobby Jarzombek is a fucking awesome drummer.
Bobby....one of the top drummers in the world! Go check out his channel and you'll agree.
I was questioning who would be good enough to replace Mark Zonder and they did a excellent job!!! Bobby kicks ass!!
Thad Meszaras
absolutely
ka hafa There really is no one good enough to replace Zonder but Bobby is comparable
That back-hand cymbal setup is wildly interesting! God damn
patent old as coal :) hehe
Blows me away how "effortless" he does it!
That first chrash-hit threw me off-guard, haha.
