Fates Warning - Damnation Lyrics
Thousands of years,
Before the dawn of history. Ancient races tears,
Are flowing like a river to the sea.
Where sacred river ran,
White deer had roamed the land,
Primitive child,
Your unforgotten tribe calls to you.
Descendants we are one,
The tangled maze is broken once again.
A myth without a meaning,
You shade the light from the seed.
The earth and virgin soil watch it bleed.
The earth and virgin soil.
Corporate buildings spread like rashes,
Stacked upon each other forty high.
Stabbed each other in the back,
You money-hungry maniacs,
Dig up the earth and spit it in your eye.
To intrude this sacred land,
Where the mortals have been banned,
Where your own forefathers lie in rest.
To disturb this mountain side,
Where in battle we did ride,
And our warriors where they lie,
The earth digest.
Hear our cry from down below,
Let our restive spirits go.
You've trapped us in your world of sin,
Let the plague begin, Damnation.
Your cities disappear,
To earth's interior, don't you know
You've got to let your spirits go, let 'em go.
You've got to let those spirits go.
Let 'em go!
You've got to let your spirit go.

Fantastic song !!
Intro acoustic riff sounds like Sleeping Village from Black Sabbath.
Same thing I was thinking
How ironic that John ended up with a business which builds furniture for corporations. lol
Great tune nonetheless!
After this ,John Arch left the band ,and it never was to be the same again, the tried to get to fancy with their music , the power of this band was gone
Beautiful music, But the album cover is... funny.
John is great but I'd give the edge to Ray "Static Acts" thats a voice
I always thought Fates Warning's first two LPs were reminiscent of (very) early Judas Priest. This song would not be out-of-place on "Sad Wings of Destiny".
....if not sounding more than a decade more advanced.
Uh...
This song is way too heavy and technical to appear on such an early record
Muy original, por eso es metal, yeha.
"Your unforgotten tribe calls to you". Awesome lyrics, strong vocalist, and the overall music kicks you in the face, while being heartfelt;rare. Wish kid's nowadays would appreciate great music like this.
Your unforgotten tribe calls to you... WTF does that even mean? Unforgotten seems like a word a tween would use when creating a Snapchat account because "it sounds cool".
Intro sounds like Judas Priest, then sounds like Maiden
arch had the Dickinson quality and they were kind of from that school of NWOBHM ... but FATES was pretty unique in a more heavy manner...
Amazing. John's voice is haunting.
Damnation: Fates Warning (Vocal Cover)
Hey everyone, check out my vocal cover of this song!!!
This is some powerful stuff!
I love John Arch's voice. He fit the band in the 80s. I had this tape. God this song is just so hauntingly beautiful.
John Arch is a better Bruce Dickinson than Bruce Dickinson.
whatever bruce inspired arch.
Fuck off, Mr Watson.
i love 80s metal
You've got to let those spirits go.
Let 'em go!
@nitinomatic It's just you
Sounds so much like 'Hallowed be thy name', or is it just me?
It isn't just about the singer guys, it seriously isn't ;)
My fav FW song of all time....love the intro
