Farnham, John - No One Comes Close Lyrics

You gave me your cool hand, luke warm reception
It's been such a long time, still there on the platform
What can an old flame do,
But talk about just what's new
Things that have happened since you went away

No one, no one comes close
Someone maybe will come my way, until that day
No one comes close to you

I see you in all those up market movies
You talk on the talk shows, I stare at the TV
What can an old friend say
I know you don't feel this way
I'm taking this chance today, to let you know

Of all the lovers I've ever known, you stand alone
No one comes close to you
Oh I'm going back to my friend
One on whom I can depend
I just smile at her and pretend, I'm free of you
I'm free of you, God knows you're free of me

@piginasack: It takes Aussie friends to introduce this music to those of us who live deprived lives here in the States.

I dont see How it would Be Deprived John Farnham made his Mark in the USA Even tho it was a Short Breakthough He still made the Charts with 3 of His Songs ....The Iconic Pop/Rock Anthem You're The Voice Which Restored John Farnham To fame and Making him the Greatest Australian singers in the World Along with his Other Albums and Songs.....You're The Voice, Two Strong Hearts, and Age of Reason All Was released in the USA And did Moderately Well You're the Voice was Released in 1986 in Australia But took until 1990 To Reach the Charts In America When it Finally Came It spent 5 weeks At Number #82 On the US Billboard Hot 100 .... Two Strong Hearts Was Realesed in the USA In 1989 Reaching the Position of Number #38 on the US Adult Contemporary Charts.... Age Of Reason was Realesed in the USA But its date remains Unknown but it did spend 3 and a half Weeks on the US Billboard hot 100 .....and even in the USA today if you Go Around and Play You're The Voice by John Farnham Chances are most people Will be Familiar and know the Song Quite Well ......so Tbh Just to Rephrase you Its Certainaly Not that Deprived 😊 He Certainly is Well known in the USA But he just isnt a Iconic Singing Legend as he is Here in Australia or Canada or the UK or New Zealand And Germany and Ireland That's Where hes Mostly an iconic Music Legend Tbh Not so much in the USA but he is Known Most Certainly
