It is twenty years or more since I saw him live 'in the pubs' and I can tell you he had an electrifying stage persona. I was never a big fan of 'young Johnny' until the night I saw him perform a bracket and come back for an encore or three.
BRILLIANT. His TV/audio performance is NOT A PATCH on the live Johnny that I saw.

I was thinking *exactly* the same thing. 99.99% of the time the singer exhorts the audience to sing the big notes because they can't consistently get there night after night themselves.
Farnam is incredibly gifted and underrated everywhere save Oz.
