Fallon, Brian - See You On The Other Side Lyrics

All my life I've been a slave to a pardon
My eyes transfixed some where far over the Jordan
And all my years I've wanted some one to die for
So I had a reason I've earned
But I've never been where you were born
Or felt the things that broke your heart
Come talk to me
Come talk to me
I want to understand

And when we both grow old
And there is nothing left to say
I want you to know
That I loved you all my days
And when we close our eyes on this life time
I'll see you on the other side
Yes I'll, see you on the other side

I would count myself lucky, loved, and entertain you
To find myself in the things that complicate you
And spend my life in your majesty service
And I call myself satisfied

But in all of my boring ways
In time and love and body aches
I loved you more
I loved you more
But a clock keeps ticking down

And when we both grow old
And there is nothing left to say
I want you to know
That I loved you all my days
And when we close our eyes on this life time
I'll see you on the other side
Yes I'll, see you on the other side
If you hold on
Hold on
Hold on to me

And when we both grow old
And there is nothing left to say
I want you to know
That I loved you all my days
And when we close our eyes on this life time
I'll see you on the other side
Yes I'll, see you on the other side

And when we both grow old
And there is nothing left to say
I want you to know
That I loved you all my days
And when we close our eyes on this life time
I'll see you on the other side
Yes I'll, see you on the other side

Brian's music is too perfect. I honestly don't think there is anyone else currently with this ability in song writing and delivery, plus his live performances are incredible. Can't wait till he's back in the UK 🤘

This whole song hits me right in the feelers but I'm surprised no one has mentioned the last 2 time he sings the chorus and how you can also hear his voice in the background a little deeper. This part of the song gave me goosebumps the first couple times I heard it, still does. I think it's so beautiful how he backs his own vocals there.

  9. V.... K....

Heard this song in a local mall and as soon as I got home I tried to look for this by typing the lyrics I remembered. I fell in love with all of his songs! Why didn't I know him earlier

This gives me a Bob Dylan kind of vibe

  50. m.... ....

I see him playing this in a church with a backing choir. preferably in Amsterdam ;)

  51. J.... N....

Brian Fallon. You are a true song writer.... we lost our sister last June. What a poignant song. "See you on the other side", Sister...😔💖

  52. J.... B....

Im addicted to this song. Its just indescribable in a great way.

  53. C.... B....

    Heart strings pulled. Thanks Brian!

  54. M.... R....

    Wow!

The absolute last thing I wanted to hear right now is a ballad (underneath my wife's car, going on 36 hours w/o sleep, swapping out this asinine faulty transmission).... but the lyrics just hit me and I couldn't pull myself away. Absolutely entrancing.

Could I have used another uptempo, raucous, rock song from Mr. Fallon to give me a bit of an energy boost under here? Hell yeah! But, I guess what I really needed was a quick reminder of why I'm really underneath this car, all bloody-knuckled and soaked in oil.

Thank you, Brian, for reminding me how much I love my wife and for possibly making me hate her GMC Acadia a little less.

    M.... R....

I know the feeling. "Spend my life in ypur majesties service and i call myself satisfied." My womans truck is a thorn in my side.

    M.... R....

Love it! Did you get it sorted?

    M.... R....

That was beautiful. Your sentiments coupled with this soulful song go perfect together

  55. T.... ....

Sounds like the album closer to me. Fantastic song as always!

  56. D.... B....

Can't stop listening to this song. I wrote up the lyrics yesterday. If you see anything that might be wrong, let me know.

  57. A.... S....

    My god, this is gorgeous.

  58. T.... P....

Great song. Definitely a touch of Red Lights. I could hear The Navesink Banks too.

  59. J.... B....

He believes in Jesus, he's said this before, and this song has a verse that mentions this "I've never been where you were born, or felt what broke your heart" and " all my life I've been a slave to pardon, with my eyes far over the Jordan, wanting something to die for. "

    J.... B....

I think his faith is only relevant here in that he believes in an afterlife - something everyone who loves someone hopes for because it means that you may see them again even after your "lifetime" is over (and most other religions also believe in this - I'm not saying this to belittle his faith, I just want to point out that this isn't just a Christian text, it's something for everyone). I also think that "Jordan" here is only a reference for death, because "crossing Jordan" is a metaphor for dying. That he's "transfixing" something on that other side of the river probably comes from wondering what awaits after death.

  60. B.... P....

Oh My God! < < Spoken like someone half my age. Brian Fallon- this song strikes me right when mortality is starting to become something tangible in my mind. I want my girl to know I felt this way about her. Great song. Thank you.

  61. B.... P....

Sounds as morbid as hell but I think I've just found my funeral song. Such lovely lyrics. I'm a 32 British guy who might just shed a tear if you play this in B'ham next month 💙

    B.... P....

Ben Palfrey my first thought as well!

    B.... P....

I can add this to my list, as well as "The '59 Sound".

  62. A.... B....

Yesterday on a bus stop I lit a cigarette and turned on this song for the first time. Somehow goddamn ninjas started to cut onions when chorus started

  63. C.... K....

Simply amazing. Never fails to disappoint. February 20th live in Birmingham. Can't wait to see him live.

  64. J.... W....

    My heart weeps listening..

  65. 1.... ....

OK I will come right out and say it Brian Fallon is the greatest musical talent of not just his generation but of any generation. A great composer, musician and performer. His work will stand with anyone's and heads above most
He also seems like he is just a good human being.
I say that with 60 years of listening to great music and knowing many great human beings to back it up

    1.... ....

Sure I will I'll only be 111 years old in 50 years. Hopefully during that time there will be several new musicians to add to my all time greatest list.

    1.... ....

thumbs up, I like your positivity , nice to see a sense of humour instead of taking a tongue in cheek comment the wrong way

    1.... ....

I have had a bad habit of snapping back over dumb little things but I finally am learning that it's all good and there is no need to get pissy about what should obviously be taken for what it is a simple joke.

Who knows by the time I reach 111 I just might have might shit together and actually know somethings. I sure hope so. It would really suck to be that old and still be as dumb as when I was 17.
My grandfather just passed a few years ago he was 103 and still pretty spry so 8 more years wouldn't be to far out of the question
Still being able to get around good and have a mind that worked. would really be cool but being just old tired and grumpy would really suck

    1.... ....

no one listens to us ol farts anyway !!

    1.... ....

That's alright I seldom listen to myself either. It's nice knowing that music we listened to when we were young is still relevant today and that there are people out there making new music that we can relate to as well.
Good music can bring people together great music can bring generations together.

  66. J.... D....

Wow. Incredible. I cannot wait to see you in April !

  67. R.... S....

I want this played at my funeral. DAMN!

  68. X.... ....

I desperately need to comment on this, but I have so many thoughts going through my head right now I honestly don't know where to start or what to say.

    X.... ....

Well, ready to elaborate a bit now. This song is, again, an epitome of the man's take on music. It is so firmly rooted in and built upon his influences from rock and pop history. In the beginning, the song obviously speaks to the man's earlier work, with the references to "Red at Night" and "Smoke". There's a lot more, but the most striking aspect is his homage to Linkin Park's "Heavy" and to Chester Bennington when he raises his voice and pitch in "if you hold on". This gave me chills and made me happy at the same time. Generally, again and again, I feel his work is a never-ending tribute, a product of honest musical intertextuality. I think it's similar to TS Eliot's poem "The Waste Land", in the sense that both construct a complicity with their audiences - "if you recognize what I'm doing here, then you feel what I feel when we each look at the world, and that means we're of the same kind". I'd love to chat more about this.

  69. A.... ....

I don't want to write the same comment as everyone else but fuck it.. this song is just marvelous and seriously: the day Brian Fallon will write a bad song will be the apocalypse. I mean.. seriously. How does he do it? He just keeps getting better and better! And the more amazing thing is that we can all relate to this song in a way or another.. goddamn I love you Brian. Thank you for being alive and writing such beautiful music!

  70. T.... M....

I agree with all you guys! Can’t wait for Gaslights next record.

  71. T.... M....

And Ed Sheehan is first in the world on Spotify...SMH🤦🏼‍♂️

    T.... M....

Trever Mounger Hey, hey, hey, Ed Sheeran makes beautiful music in his own right. Not even in the same league as Fallon, but he's earned his fame. Hearts Don't Break Around Here and Give Me Love are awesome.

    T.... M....

Do we really need to tear down Ed Sheeran to build up Brain Fallon? No, we do not, because they are both great.

  72. c.... R....

I think what I love most about you is your fans!! No one EVER says anything bad!! Love you always!!

  73. J.... ....

I'm not crying, it's just my allergies...

  74. G.... A....

Brian Fallon is on fire. Can't wait for the rest of the album.

  75. V.... S....

    Thank you for everything. Genius.

  76. g.... ....

The backing vocals are out of this world on this track. Can't wait till Feb 22nd

  92. P.... W....

    What a song !!!! Thanks !!!

  93. J.... S....

    chords?

  94. D.... L....

Can do no wrong. I can't even begin to fathom how excited I am for this album. Fuck yes!

  95. T.... ....

    Please come to Madrid.

  96. D.... J....

I now know what it’s like to be moved to tears from hearing a song. Beautiful.

  97. J.... M....

Can't wait to see you Brian!!!

  98. D.... W....

The beginning is reminiscent of "Red at Night" and the tone of the verses falls into the style of his last album, specifically "Red Lights". Forging a new path while acknowledging where he's been flawlessly. Beautiful.

    D.... W....

Reminded me of Red Lights too.

    D.... W....

I was looking down the comments to see if anyone else said this. I didn't know which song, but it is "Red at Night". Seems like the same strum pattern and maybe chords also.

    D.... W....

    And The Navesink Banks.

    D.... W....

He didn’t write the chord progression and strum pattern for red at night.
