Fallon, Brian - Neptune Lyrics

I never felt like I was home
Felt like a strange long-distance caller
Set to the words I heard on the needle spinnin' by my bedside
And I used to stay up most of the night
With my ear tuned to any sound
Of life, of love, of something that felt like redemption

And I never dreamed that I would see you again
But I never forgot all the times that we spent flying rolled down low like a window

And maybe we believed in very, very foolish things
Maybe these songs kept us breathing another tomorrow
And we were always very sure we were never gonna change the world
I never held any grudges or kept any pictures

And what did it mean for all these years I spent chasin them ferris wheels
That were always gone like visions come the morning?
But there's not one day I regret
And I would do it all again
So if I go down, Lily, I'm going down believing

And I never dreamed that I would see you again
And I lost myself for a season in Hell flying rolled down low like a window

And maybe we believed in very, very foolish things
Maybe these songs kept us breathing another tomorrow
And we were always very sure we were never gonna change the world
I never held any grudges or kept any pictures
(Hey!)

She said, "tonight, my love, I declare this war for your falling from grace with me"
While Neptune rolled out a carpet made of gold for the mermaids he drowned in the sea
It's been a long time since I kept any pictures
And it's been a long night, I don't know where to find her

And maybe we believed in very, very foolish things
Maybe these songs kept us breathing another tomorrow
And we were always very sure we were never gonna change the world
I never held any grudges or kept any pictures

(It's been a long time
Since I kept any pictures
It's been a long night
And I don't know where to find her)

I just don't get it, Brian Fallon is the best thing going on in the music world and after a year this has had only 113,404 views. I got into Brian Fallon just a couple of years ago, and began wondering what out have I've been missing. So I broadened my horizons and start listening to artist I had previously dismissed. What I learned is that there are very very few artist that can hold a candle to Brian Fallon. Josh Ritter is a different style but he is also extremely talented and like Brian is not getting the recognition he too deserves.
Why do so many foul mouth thugs and silicone injected bimbo's who merely lip sync their music get so much adulation? Is dropping F bombs and showing skin the new road to stardom with no talent needed?

    T.... E....

    T.... E....

So what you mean is, "if ain't broke, don't fix it"

    T.... E....

If he keeps writing them like this he cancontinue writing the same love song over and over I wont mind.

  14. m.... p....

    Fantastic song

  15. M.... K....

Great song! Sounds a lot like another one of his songs having a hard time pinpointing it

    M.... K....

Mark Keeter I think Brian said that, for this album, he is using a lot of the same type of sound that he put into gaslight songs. For Painkillers, he was uncomfortable using too much TGA sound in respect to his old band mates, but this album he felt comfortable using his own sound that he brought to TGA because it's still his. So I think that's why you'll hear more similarities in this album to the TGA stuff that Brian wrote compared to Painkillers.

    M.... K....

    Mark Keeter

The end of intro is basically Rosemary, and the verses are pretty much the backseat

    M.... K....

The end sounds like the end of 1930.

  16. K.... G....

Cant wait for the Columbus tour date! So worth the drive.

I cranked it up earlier and my neighbor came over and asked what the hell? who is that? he was totally blown away by the music. He is now a Brian Fallon fan.

  21. J.... S....

  23. V.... M....

Brian! I'd like to take to have a couple of beers! In a world without a deathwish, on a night under the fireworks in heaven.

    V.... M....

He doesn't really drink. I mean he did mention margaritas when I saw him live haha But I really don't think he is a drinker.

    V.... M....

As I can tell from the interview called "The quiet, eventual optimism of Brian Fallon" he doesn't mind beer.

    V.... M....

Remember seeing somewhere also that he rarely drinks anymore. But then again this doesnt exactly seem like a water https://www.earthquakerdevices.com/blog-posts/2017/8/1/playlist-the-gaslight-anthems-brian-fallon-shares-his-top-20-best-uses-of-guitar-effects-in-songs
