Fallon, Brian - Etta James Lyrics
Did you spend most of your life waitin'
On a fairytale read between pages?
Did you huddle up close to your boombox radio
Somebody waiting on the same song?
And I used to beg June to burn me alive, if that would get me anywhere but here
Now Etta James, hit that symphony
Cause she drips through my blood like a remedy
And for most of my sad life I figured I was gonna die alone
Cause I just burned in the curve of my scars
Twenty long years away from your heart
Til finally, finally, my love is in my arms
My love is in my arms
In my chest was a lonesome, growing cyclone
I kept pictures tucked up into the rear view above
To the sirens all lost in the ocean
And all we wanted was absolutely everything
Like foolish, hungry young lions
I was lost and alone, a million light years from home
It was nobody's fault but mine
Now Etta James, hit that symphony
Cause she drips through my blood like a remedy
And for most of my sad life I figured I was gonna die alone
Cause I just burned in the curve of my scars
Twenty long years away from your heart
But finally, finally, my love is in my arms
My love is in my arms
And was there a hole in your life?
Did you kill to keep warm but somehow never quite satisfied?
Do you feel like it's always time to go?
And it's always wrong, and it's always off, and it's hard to know, which heart to hold
Now do you lie to someone, is someone else, on your mind?
Do you lie to someone with me on your mind?
Now Etta James, hit that symphony
Cause she drips through my blood like a remedy
And for most of my sad life I figured I was gonna die alone
Cause I just burned in the curve of my scars
Twenty long years away from your heart
Til finally, finally, my love is in my arms
My love is in my arms
(Etta James, Etta James
Etta James, it's been a long time coming...)
At last, at last...
I could've said my love was coming 'long

Fallon, Brian Etta James Comments
Wow, time to check Brian and his discography. I'm speechless.
2:40-3:30 hits me hard...Fallon always on point with the songwriting🖤💯
Legend ❤️
Saw Brian do this live in Birmingham OMG 😭 And i am 62 ❤
Thank you for introducing me to this song. I miss you, B.
No words can describe my feelings for this song except love love and love:-)
Another masterpiece.
Nice ..., very nice 👍
💃🔥💃🔥💃💋
I love the ghostly voice
Every once in a while an artist comes around that breathes new life into a dull music era. Brian is that artist.
You know those songs you find that just have so much emotion and soul that you find and it changes the way you think if for only a short time, and you just never want that song to end? Its like a religious experience almost. This is that song. I've loved TGA ever since The 59 Sound came out and changed my life. Keep it up Brian!!
Damn, Brian. Damn! Thanks for the music, and a soundtrack for the headaches.
That bridge is awesome! Reminds me of Paul McCartney maybe circa Wings time, but its pure Brian stuff itself...truly amazing song whatsoever.
I got to meet Etta James! She was was one of the most beautiful people I have ever met! She said to me and my friends as young men what do you boys know about the blues as she laughed! We didn’t know much but we knew Etta🌹💔☠️🙏
I loved the ending. where everyone gets involved
this isnot brian fallon ?
You just don't hear songs like this anymore. This record is amazing.
“I used to beg June to burn me alive. If that would get me anywhere to you.”
Paying honor to Johnny and June Carter Cash!
I'm always amazed that Brian Fallon can fit so many winding and intricate lyrics into a 4 minute song without sounding wordy or long winded. He can pack more emotions and thoughts into each individual song than many musicians can put into an entire album.
Brian Fallon is one of the last American singer song writers! In a time were we have Mumble crap, and where we are over populated with the Taylor swifts and her wannabe spin off jerk offs. We have people like Brian killing all that garbage that flows into our ears. What an amazing talent this man has. He is really a modern day Bob Dylan of my generation. What a gift we have been sent! Keep it up!
Instant tears! This may just be one of the greatest songs Brian Fallon has ever written! He really does a great job of reaching into your chest and touching your soul with “Etta James.”
This song touches almost everyone in some way.
Oh Brian...
This is fantastic, you can really hear that Springsteen influence in the chorus
I think my heart was just punched out of my chest
This should be released as a single. Like Brian and GLAs best songs, it drips with the perfect blend of passion and nostalgia
I´m without words...this is so beautiful! Thanks Brian for an awesome piece of art.
I can't place the song, but this connects "Elsie" to Sleepwalkers. It has the same sounding pre chorus, as though it's a sequel.
One word ..class
Officially my favourite song in the past 12months 2nd is forget me not
This is probably my new favorite song
one of my favorite songs from the record
Chills went down my whole body as that final note rang out. Brian has never been short of amazing. His music has always stung in the best of ways and hit me like no other band ever has.
Listening to this live was a highlight of this year - and yes, I know it's only March.
He just knows how to hit you in the heart. Am I right??
yes your right
start of this song is more like something from the Killers, All in All a very good album!
I cannot stop replaying this song. It's perfection to me, and I cry every time I listen to this. I swear, Brian Fallon has this ability to write a song and it feels like it was written for me. Almost every song he writes feels so very personal. This one just gets to me.
See You On The Other Side is definitely my favorite, but first I though second will be Watson, and for the last few days I've been listening to this repeatedly, and, I'm having doubts .
This chorus fuckin kills me inside but i love this song its like that phrase about watchin a wreck but you cant look away.. It cuts deep. The dying alone part
I've never heard a song by Brian I did not love.
A comment was made somewhere on these songs from sleepwalker where the statement was made that this album was maybe just a little bit to polished and yada yada. I replied that I knew where the poster was coming from and that some of these songs come across as a little to "poppy"
After dozens of listens I disavow that statement (must have been caused by sleep deprivation) I stand solidly behind my original comment of "Wonderful just wonderful" and beg forgiveness for that momentary lapse of reason.
Such a powerful and beautiful song... Just this one is enough to make the album a classic.
This song instantly made me wanna cry and I don’t even know why.
It MADE me cry! He just sings it with so much emotion it literally just like hit me in the soul with all the feels. Absolutely one of my favs on this album!
Haha, I relate to this on another level. Typing this with a lump in my throat.
Thank you for writing this song - literally my favorite in the whole world right now - amazing
your welcome ?
Who ever thumbs downed this, shame on you! You have no soul.
Just finished giving the new album a once over, and this is the song I keep wanting to go back to..Hands down my favorite!
Song of the year 2018 nominee. Fucking breathtaking.
That chorus man
Bruce? Is that you?
Doesn't sound anything like Bruce
I love how this sounds a little bit like Joey that cover the horrible crowes did.
i mostly listen to metal and hardcore but how not to love fallon voice and lyrics
Teenage Dream. Who hears that!?
Definitely agree it's horrible crowes like. Love it
Sure do! Love the horrible crowes version. I've heard Brian ghost writes and I like to think teenage dream may be his. Probably not but I just like to think in my ignorant little head
sounds awesome brian
I LOVE this track. The lyrics cut deep in that way only Brian Fallon has ever been able to.
I dont fucking know how, but this album kinda hits deeper than the ones before.
And the other ones hit deep. But this has something...just....fuck...
Its outstanding mate, I cant stop listening to it, I think its his best work
Wonderful just wonderful. Fallon just keeps getting better and better
Cant to hear this in Newcastle next month .
Me too ! Brilliant !
Thank you for that Brian
I think I'm in love haha 💘
so am i
An absolute masterpiece.
I think there's a glitch with YouTube — I can only "Like" this one once!
The Magician of Words! love ya Brian!!!!
sweet jesus
Have Mercy, even.
Today's my birthday AND Brian releases a new record, perfect day!!! Preordered this directly when it was announced ♡ btw this song is so awesome!!!
I can confidently say I've never heard a song by Brian that I did not love.
Me too!
Well worth the wait. Little teasers of tracks but the whole album as a collective is outstanding. So good and on repeat now constantly.
I really loved Painkillers but this album hits it out of the planet, maybe the universe. It's just amazing through and through.
Did you spend most of your life waitin'
On a fairytale read between pages?
Did you huddle up close to your boombox radio
Is somebody waiting on the same song?
And we sold our souls on the fantasies we found in records and black and white movies
And it was impossible to hold on to anything
In my chest was a lonesome, growing cyclone
I kept pictures tucked up into the rear view above to the sirens all lost in the ocean
And all we wanted was absolutely everything
Like foolish, hungry young lions
I was lost and alone, a million light years from home
It was nobody's fault but mine
Now Etta James, hit that symphony
Cause she drips through my blood like a remedy
And for most of my sad life I figured I was gonna die alone
Cause I just burned in the curve of my scars
Twenty long years away from your heart
But finally, FINALLY, my love is in my arms
And was there a hole in your life?
Did you kill to keep warm but somehow never quite satisfied?
Do you feel like it's always time to go?
And it's always wrong, and it's always off, and it's hard to know, which heart to hold
Now do you lie to someone, is someone else, on your mind?
Do you lie to someone with me on your mind?
Now Etta James, hit that symphony

And for most of my sad life I figured I was gonna die alone
Cause I just burned in the curve of my scars
Twenty long years away from your heart
Til finally, FINALLY, my love is in my arms
My love is in my arms
There's the end lyrics he sings I think "My love has come along..."
IMO That last part should say:
"Do you lie with someone with someone else on your mind
Do you lie to someone with me on your mind"
:-)
This isn't just one of the greatest song i've heard by Brian, it's one of the greatest songs i've ever heard period. That beautiful chorus knocks it out the park. Sleepwalkers really is a masterpiece.
the inside of my entire body and spirit and heart
mines in my mind
I'm still stuck on Elsie...I think it's his best work.
100% agree this may be the best song he's ever written
Problem with listening to Brian is you hear so many of the "greatest songs ever" that you no longer can choose just a handful to among that group, he's just written too many
Tu música me inspira un chingo a vivir, somos colegas, gracias a ti tengo un proyecto de Folk/punk acústico llamado Nanuq.
It’s official sleepwalkers is out and ready to be put on repeat!
