Fallon, Brian - Come Wander With Me Lyrics

I came to this world in a seaside town where the water could cool your broken body out
I learned you can rise over the cards in your hand
Mama was a woman and a hard-workin' man

Now everyone I know had to make their own bed
Try to do as good as their fathers did for them
I never knew mine so I bandaged the hurt
I pretended that my daddy was a bank robber

Oh but you, you always said, "You're just too good a ship to wreck."
You said, "Never mind nothin', there's a summertime humming once the bandages come off."
Yes, and you always believed there was some kind of diamond in me
Oh but if you still burn every night in the hurt, I know a place where the pain doesn't reach
Come wander with me
Come wander with me

Now I tried to believe but it's so hard to know
How to do right, Rudy, with the seeds that we've sewn
But the voices are loud and the miles are long
And heroes are a hard thing to find when you're gone

Oh but you, you always said, "You're just too good a ship to wreck."
You said, "Never mind nothin', there's a summertime humming once the bandages come off."
Yes, and you always believed there was some kind of diamond in me
Oh but if you still burn every night in the hurt, I know a place where the pain doesn't reach
Come wander with me
Come wander with me

Now I hope the things that trouble me, they don't catch you or put you on your knees
But I found out time and work don't make you a man
Because time didn't teach me anything, and the working only broke my hands
And when someday came I did not understand
U-understand, understand

Oh but you, you always said, "You're just too good a ship to wreck."
You said, "Never mind nothin', there's a summertime humming once the bandages come off."
Yes, and you always believed there was some kind of diamond in me
Oh but if you still burn every night in the hurt, I know a place where the pain doesn't reach
Come wander with me (it's hard to sleep, I can bring you a dream, my baby, come wander with me)
Come wander with me

Fallon, Brian Come Wander With Me Comments
  1. R.... ....

Can't believe not a single comment has mentioned how much the chorus of this song resembles Blue Dahlia...

  2. j.... ....

this guy needs a better vocal processor great songwriter but his vocals have to many minor skips. or maybe he has nodes on his vocal chords, something is always off though.

  3. B.... E....

With a wandering glance I gave this a chance. Thanks for doing you and letting us take part

  4. M.... A....

Hiya Brian, How's one of my all time faves? Hope you & yours are well. Love, M.A.M.

  5. M.... S....

"You're just too good a ship to wreck" Love your stuff Brian. One of the best musicians of our generation without question....cheers

  6. K.... B....

HA! WHAT A CLASH REFERENCE!! Who else caught it!?!

    K.... B....

Christopher Efstathiou ooo where can it be found?

    K.... B....

@Scott T Pea 0:38 when he said he pretended his daddy was a bank robber. The next 10 seconds are a clash shoutout.

    K.... B....

Just listened to the song again. There is a Credence clearwater revival reference as well.

  7. M.... ....

"Momma was a woman and a hard working man."
    Amen.

  8. A.... ....

People are gonna hate me for liking this record more than I like the 59 sound

    A.... ....

I did not like Painkillers I love this record.

    A.... ....

It's been a few months from my first listen. I think this is the best album in his whole collection, and I lOVE 59 sound.

  9. C.... C....

This is my favourite song with if your prayers don’t get to heaven

  10. C.... C....

I LOVE THIS SONG AND IM A KID

  11. P.... ....

    The bridge is so amazing!

  12. T.... ....

    Some fucking boyo

  13. T.... M....

Aside from Forget Me Not, Prayers, and Color Me Black, this one is my fav!!!

  14. A.... L....

Anyone else love the "s-s-sing" part?

    A.... L....

It a reference for The Clash!!! WOOHOO!

  15. C.... G....

    Absolute favorite from Sleepwalkers

  16. r.... ....

He has the lyrical genius of The Boss, but still manages to be his own person. When Bruce retires, Brian will take over as the blue collar everyday man hero.

  17. b.... a....

I would rather brian fallon just do what..he's good at rather than get all experimental and risk falling flat...His solo work is surprisingly good..luv it!

    b.... a....

Well Brain is a true artist in a world full of trolls that cannot create anything, but complain on the internet. Artist take risk and do not care if they fall flat, or what someone says on some feed. They create art and push the limits of themselves by doing things that make them feel uncomfortable. That is how great art is created, but you are someone that is obviously not an artist nor has the ability to create. That must suck.

  18. G.... O....

Favorite track so far off the whole album. So good!

    G.... O....

He does it so damn well I love this guy he gives you a hard luck story or something dark and then he gives you that chorus that gives youths feeling of hope and better things comin

  19. B.... B....

    I love it! It’s Fab!

  20. l.... h....

    love this beat xx

  21. A.... C....

I'm a huge Brian Fallon fan, but this album seems too polished, something off with the whole thing.

    A.... C....

How is it too polished?! You can still hear how raw his voice is.

    A.... C....

I agree his voice is the rawest element... I actually like the album a whole lot more now that I've listened to it a few times.

    A.... C....

It definitely has a way of growing on you. Songs I considered the weakest elements after listening a few times you start picking up little nuances in the music and pieces of lyrics that really speak to you. Definitely an A+
I hope Brian receives the critical acclaim he deserves, not just for this album but his entire body of work, which is heads and shoulders above 95% of what's out there. But in away it's nice having him as our little secret

    A.... C....

A.A., You mean, perhaps, Brian truly did have a diamond in him and now it gets to shine?

    A.... C....

    This album is awesome!

  22. T.... E....

Brian "I rewrite the same love song over and over again" Fallon.

    T.... E....

Maybe 1/4 of the singles off this album were actually love songs.

    T.... E....

    Haaaaa .....your adorable man

    T.... E....

Sadly you did your comment on the wrong song, cause this is not a love song in the first place. You should learn to understand lyric meanings.

    T.... E....

I'll listen to every song this guy writes - let it be over and over again - pure feel this guy has and that's rare - Brian Fallon, I'm a fan. Amazing music over and over again... Kills it everytime. Bless

  23. m.... p....

Very gaslight anthem , could be on American slang . My favourite song so far ...

    m.... p....

mr pele I definitely thought the same thing. It took me back when American Slang was put out and it was such a good time. I love this record!!

    m.... p....

filmnoirx I have great memories of that record too. Not quite in the 59 sound league but not many albums if any can come anywhere near that amazing record.

  24. K.... G....

Everytime i get a notification on my phone for a new Brian Fallon song I get a big smile on my face. 😁

    K.... G....

    ill bet ;)

  25. B.... K....

By far the best song of Brian his new album. Fucking awesome.....superior...mannnn love it!!

  26. L.... W....

I'm really enjoying this song. First listen, as well.

  27. r.... I....

This is hard to say but it's probably my favourite from sleepwalkers I hate picking :///

    r.... I....

Hm, I'm torn between little nightmares and Etta James.

    r.... I....

My first listen and each song seems better than the last. When it comes to choosing my favorite can I just say all of the above?

  28. D.... R....

I love all these references to TGA stuff and The Clash reference. These lyrics are just amazing. I don't know how he does it but I love every bit of it...

    D.... R....

Daren Redman i hear hard to find when you're grown. If it is or isn't is that a reference to another song like bankrobber? He says sing twice after both those verses.

  29. s.... n....

I'm not gonna lie, at first I didn't like that one too much, i thought so maybe that's the second song Brian Fallon has ever written that I don't like... But holy cow, the development within this song blows me away

    s.... n....

    Konstantin Schaller what's the first?

    s.... n....

I know what you mean, When I first heard the beginning of My Name Is The Night I just wasn't sure, but after a couple of listening I'd put it on my all time favorites list.
Sometimes I wonder how he can keep putting out masterpiece after masterpiece and prepare myself to be disappointed. It hasn't ever happened I've yet to be disappointed and may be beginning to think that I never will be.

  30. V.... M....

This one gets into your head and once it gets there, it never leaves it.

My foot must be at a funeral. Cuz it wont stop with the taps. Hachacha
