Falling Up - Rangers Lyrics

It came through the upstairs blinds like an apparition
Like it didn’t know that I was in the room, but it’s obvious to me
I’ll cut the outside line and change the combination
And have the Intern enter numbers in the gate, that only she will ever see

Blue light, rangers, coming down the road
Clouds are changing, swallowing whole
The backyard border, so I can’t see the children’s swings

Closed up, woodshop, guarded with guns
Sister, upstairs, hiding the funds
And when she finds a place, she will be running

Sons and Daughters, turn your heads to the sea
Gods and angels, turn your heads to the sea
Because once I blow the breaker
It will blind you like you won’t believe

Into the Intern’s room, I’ll enter through the window
And the wind will stir up everything around
But for a moment we will hold
No they will never cease, forever they’ll remember
She says, no matter just how far they’ll take her down
She will never break the code

Moon dog, madness, sniffing in the breeze
Down in the basement, I’m swallowing keys
There is a low light glass trap that I can roll out of

Sons and Daughters, turn your heads to the sea
Gods and angels, turn your heads to the sea
Because once I blow the breaker
It will blind you like you won’t believe

Chlorine waters, waving in red
Some forging father’s signature penned
And when they find the fuse, they will be running

Blown up wood shop, and all that they find
Are parts of guards that offered their lives
So when we move down hallways, we won’t be discovered...

This song is beautiful and haunting. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Falling Up

    this is amazing

This band seems to have turned their back to the idea they had when they started. Just like Creed. I still like the melodies but this has nothing to do with telling about Jesus! I have to catch up on what happened.

They have always had that mysterious side of them. They go far deeper with their lyrics, stories and metaphors than a cookie cutter christian band. "Rangers" offers another aggressive shift, but also with more spiritually allegorical lyrics ("chlorine waters, waving in red, some forging father's signature penned"). "The Insect" is an incredibly beautiful and quiet track, and gives a more insightful glimpse into the band's poetic flow. The song is a message from God to Evaline, claiming "I'll take the fall for you, my angel … I made a song in the fathoming vows of our love, Evaline. In your room, some summer you'll lie and I'll fly though your window...". Either way their message has always been about grace. Also shown in their most recent previous album-Midnight on Earthship with the song "Tomorrows"- ('Oh Lord Jesus I’m still trying Wait for me I stay today And I’ll run tomorrow But I know you wait for me"). I really have enjoyed how their music almost demands you to bring your imagination into it. They truly are great Artists who have a passion for expressing their love of God and his everlasting grace.

Well they were signed to BEC Records, which is a Christian music label, so Falling Up had to make their music according to what the record label wanted. In 2010 they went independent so they could make whatever they wanted. I don't think it really matters what their music is about, as long as its creative and doesn't go against God in any way. Even while they were independent they made an album called Midnight On Earthship that is predominantly worship. Other than that, Falling Up is probably the most creative band I've heard ever, musically and lyrically.

They don't have to sing about Jesus to be worshiping. Living is worship. The Bible never said that raising a joyful noise to the Lord was ever meant to invoke his name on a constant basis. In my mind, if you're living right, you're worshiping. If God is so arrogant to think that worship is only when we sing about him specifically, then should he really be worshiped?

I need to take drugs to try to enter into the trip that this band is on. You have to be freaking to be able to understand this. I am totally confused. It isn't even abstract... it's just weird. Like they all lost their minds.

+Johansen Yoyanovich Of all their albums, this is the one that makes the most sense!

    Oh goodness!!

    J.... Y....

Johansen Yoyanovich They released an audiobook story called "hours" that is related to a lot of their albums. After listening to the story, I've occasionally come across a line in one of their songs and go "Oh, THAT'S what they're talking about!" but then afterward I'll lapse back into confusion. It's kind of maddening, like getting brief glimpses of a movie but never seeing the whole thing.

Jade Skull, thank you for being the one to put this in words!

    J.... Y....

NO. You have to have Jesus. :)

Could someone tell me what this song talks about?

I think we'll forever be stuck unless Jessy writes some more books. We should sign a petition or something. lol I was always told and think personally that fangs is simply the story of a planet that shot golden arrows into outer space to get rid of cloth that was poisoned. That all was great until that same cloth landed on a neighboring planet killing a lot of people. That astronaut then was sent out by his people to see where those came from and why it happened. That album is about his long journey there and finally arriving to fall in love with a princess or queen. I forget, but she was royalty. I believe Fangs is completely related to YSDC, and Hours. I think that planet that shot the golden arrows was earth. As soon as he gets there, they're afraid so they burry the evidence that he even came. But ends up falling in love with a human making a different species on earth. That species is what Seth (Fynn) is, and it's finally his destiny to end the war between the humans and kind-of-humans and dig up the evidence that was buried long ago. but there's probably holes all throughout my theory. Well that was a mouth full, but that's my theory (And some others), but to be honest, I'm probably wrong. lol

+Zach Bean Wow. You really think about this. Haha.

LuisDa GóMo From my research, this album is talking about an Architect (father) who is a criminal, murdering people and stealing their money. The mother knows about it and is helping out with the crimes, and the daughter has been helping this whole time and she never knew what was going on. "Rangers" is a metaphor for police officers/SWAT team. As for the Intern, all I can think of with that is that the Intern may be the father's accomplice.
"Then they ran through the rooms, panic was blazing in blue. Like the blue from the lights came through as slipped passed the overturned chairs", The cops make their way into the house and make their way through the chairs that are turned over because the father is trying to escape. "Blue from the lights" refers to police car lights.
"The light shimmering dust that followed when all of the red beams turned at him", The dust is seen through the light of the red beams, and the "red beams" are the lasers from the cops' guns pointing at the father.
"Blue lights, Rangers, coming down the road", Cops are coming to the house.
"Closed up woodshop, guarded with guns. Sister upstairs hiding the funds", The Woodshop is where the father commits and hides most of his crimes. And the daughter (sister) is hiding all the money the father has stolen, so it appears she now knows what is going on.
"Chlorine waters waving in red. Some forging father's signature penned", I think the "waters waving in red" refers to the father's pen he used to forge signatures when he'd steal money.
"Closed up woodshop and all that they find are parts of guards who offered their lives, so when they move down walls, we won't be discovered", It appears that the father had some others who helped him by guarding the woodshop, and it seems like the woodshop was. blown up to destroy the evidence and the family has made their escape.

Thank you so much for that overview!
