Fall Of Troy, The - The Hol[ ]y Tape... Lyrics
None of this has changed, when we all look the same.
Addicted to the one that left you, we can't forget you.
We colonized in war, predicting many more.
Addicted to the hand that fed you, you can't remember.
The more trouble that we get in,
The more fun if we don't get caught up in it.
Prefabricate that skin!
Help me find out, if this is all predictable.
Or is your troubled fate, relentless in it's ways,
Destroying all your days?
(These words coincide!!! Self-taught suicide!!!)

1:57 is one of the most insane riffs I've ever heard. I still can't learn to play it to this day...
the ending is so good
Sounds allot like The mars volta
Sounds like Cedric Bixler

that riff at 2:53 and when it repeats about ten seconds later are fucking phenomenal

That "Your color...I wonder..." is the best part of this whole album

Alex Alejandro no, 2019
The endings to this as Act one are genious
When the song drops into the bridge before Tim's vocals, it sounds like some kind of portal to another dimension opened... then you step through and there's no saving you. Favorite band.
John McMahon I literally fell into another dimension on Dimitri with this song as the kicker, so this comment is accurate
Just jammed to this at the reunion shows!!! >:DD
lucky.... ;~;
By the way, the title of this song is a House of Leaves reference.
I don't know why, but the bit after the outro always makes me picture a scenic view of people hiking up a mountain to some ancient ruin. It just sounds amazing!
1:27-2:20 never fails to make me smile
The parts marked as "[ ]" were from the burns. I just read that section today... and the Holloway Tapes. Then our power broke and I've been in the dark alone for a while and I felt a bit like Tom Navidson until it got fixed.
2:04 I could listen to that part all day
Girlfriend, why you so happy
lol true dat,well said brother
This song makes me want to just play my guitar (air guitar) and literally break it.
Andrew Forsman is one of my all-time favorite drummers. No question about it.
Who's the loser that disliked this....must be deaf
k thanks i ill def check it out :D
I read the book, there are spots missing because the the book is about a research report about a documentary about a house. The old man writing the research report went a bit insane while writing it and bits of the text were loss due to rips, burning, ink spills, and something like tar at one point two. I can't remember exactly what marked out the parts missing in Holloway, but it was a chapter about one of the characters, this song is basically a character song for Holloway Roberts.
Best beginning and ending to a song ever also anyone knows of anysongs that sound like the rif at the end that would be great :]
I would like to hear something like that too
Closest thing to it is the breakdown before the weird ascending scale outro lol
BUT the little guitar loop jam at the end would be the most fire sample known to any beat
DANKKrish Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, Do Make Say Think, Hammock, Caspian, Mogwai, Cloudkicker.... so much
Are there any songs that are like from 3:35 to the end? Really relaxes me :)
WoWTilter welp I’m 6 years late but Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, Do Make Say Think, Hammock, Caspian, Mogwai, Cloudkicker.... so much
Yeah, it's supposed to be Holloway. It's a play on some fictional book that starts to burn when you read it if I recall correctly. So there's letters missing from Holloway.
These parts of the book were either burned away or covered in ink, but that's because the whole manuscript was either typed up or scribbled on loose leafs of paper and napkins. Johnny Truant only put down the parts he could read. A book being burned as it was read featured in one of the last sections, but not specifically in The Hol[ ]y Tape.
There are a few spaces in between the brackets. It's supposed to be Holloway if I remember.
why is it spelled hol[]y? why not holy? :o
The reply is so it shows up, but It means Holloway, but people think it means Holy, It's technically The Hol[lowa]y Tape.
@Fma1416 obviously bassist.
Song is amazing, very reminiscent of the mars volta.
Looked it up because its about House of Leaves...stayed for awesome that oozed from my speakers. Has my favorite book showed me my new favorite band? Quite possibly.
(By the way, The Hol[]y Tape really means The Holloway Tape, which is a chapter in the book House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski and the song fits Holloway to the extreme!)
Perfect!! :D
@MrBlatz89 I... think I might understand a bit more, and thanks for making it so clear, as far as I know. So, I wont know unless I listen to Floyd the Barber, I mean, I've heard at least a bit more than an album by Nirvana, but not that song, I'll make sure to give it a listen, once I hear it, I bet I'll know what you were talking about.
@muckyukkerman I've listened to this song dozens of times but I only first noticed it back when I made the comment. At first I didn't think it sounded like Thomas, but now I think I can recognize it as his voice.
@jackieeethepwner It's called "Perfect Harmony" Go ahead, look it up, you'll find the Fall Of Troy somewhere, trust me, it's in the subtext.
@NukeTheWale That, my good man, would be the part I like to call "harmony"
@Teskus I think that really is the reason why :P
@MrBlatz89 Not sure If I get what the minor 0-1 type thing is.... sorry if I sound stupid :P
@Fma1416 Geez.... how could you hear those? They're so subtle, also, they're most likely just Thomas's backing vocals, to give it an echo effect, perhaps. That's at least how I see it.
@dlm9293
*you're
Who sung the background vocals at 0:16 and 0:25?
@wtf235100 dude can you PLEASE send me the tabs youd be my hero.
epic epic epic epic epic epic epic epic
Just got to the part in "House of Leaves" where it talks about the Holloway Tape and it brought me here. I also love how The Fall of Troy have a song called 'Tom Waits' and I like to think it's simply because Tom Waits has a song called "The Fall of Troy". =P
8 years late but I'm also reading it and I got to the bit where it talks about the tape and everything is semi redacted with the brackets, then came back to this
the ending is the best part ever, like honestly how do you write like this? amazing
@wtf235100 YOU SHOULD TAB IT FOR ME! <3
@NukeTheWale xD
@RIPcaseycalvert911 the song better not end at 3:34! >:(
3:34 - 4:52 my fav :)
this song is so fucking fun 2 play!
the gradual calamity of this song is insane.
@ienjoydmt a dick nonetheless, bro
@dlm9293
at least i'm an educated dick
As a drummer, this turns my brain into soup EVERY time.
@beefc4kee
WOW THANKS, I NEVER WOULD HAVE FUCKING GUESSED THAT
i bet even your grandmother knows that
