Faithfull, Marianne - Truth, Bitter Truth Lyrics
Where did it go to my youth
Where did it fade away to?
Who was it told the truth - the bitter truth
The truth we didn't want to know?
What is it - can I bear it?
Who did it - do I care?
Who is it - when did it happen and where?
Why did you let me know
How could you think I'd stand it?
You knew I'd pay you back
I did it and it happened - do you care?
Where did it go to, my youth?
Who was it told the truth - the bitter truth
The truth we didn't want to know?
Who is he - do you know?
This man of power but a fool
They said he was so high and pure
They also said that he was cruel
They killed him, did you see?
They knew he couldn't take it
They wanted lies - he said the truth
They did it - and it happened - who cares?
Where did it go to, my youth?
Where did it slip away to?
Who was it told the truth - the bitter truth
The truth they didn't want to know?
Why did you let me know?
How could you think I'd stand it?
You knew I'd pay you back
I did it - and it happened - do you care?
What is it - do you know?
Who did it - can I bear it?
Who did it - do I care?
Who is it - when did it happen and where?
What is it - do you know?
Who did it - can I bear it?
Who did it - do I care?
Who is it - when did it happen and where?
Where did it go to, my youth?
Where did it slip away to?
Who was it told the truth, the bitter truth
The truth I didn't want to know?

Bang the fuck out of that look, But WE ALL get older in our life.......hahahahahaha ..... Now we look back ! Yes they were VERY good TIMES .......And she was/ killer looking lady...... Very stylish.......
Too close.....this song
Always takes me back to the 80's
Marianne took the advice and had the face done and surfaced as Tori Amos at times working with Glenna Davis leaving Kate Bush era behind...seeking new music to compose under new faces waiting for the throat to heal from a slash to the throat....
Addicts have a PhD in experience. Can't read about it need to live it.
Are you implying we as addicts are sub human, is that what your saying. I am an addict, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict myself. We are people with feelings, I can't believe you feel that way. Pity on you, I have 5 yrs sobriety yesterday, have a great job and my immediate family back. Think before you speak.
MAGNIFICA......MERAVIGLIOSA!!!
I love this song, beautiful song
I cry every time I hear this song.
One of the greatest artists of our time!
I played this on repeat, back in 1981 on the day when I was told I had testicular cancer ... it was a l-o-n-g day. Now I have just turned 60, and I look back with melancholy, so much of my life has passed and so many of my friends have passed. Bitter sweet memories, but still I smile and am grateful. There is nothing like being told at 22 that you had less than a 20% chance of seeing 25. My whole life has been on borrowed time, it gives you a fresh outlook on every single day that passes, be it good or bad.
Joining your survivor club........8 years for me
I hear you. I was in the same boat at 20. I will be 55 this summer. Never thought I'd make it this far. It wasn't easy but I am glad I fought the battle now.
Music isn't music if she didn't exist, just loves this girl. Here text's are strong, they mean what ordinary people do in life,in service for a country. and it is a just god dam good music. One and only Marianne Faithful. When you're time comes, you will sing front of God and he will listen and he will take you in his arms and say you did good Marianne, you did good

52 too. I can’t wait to be 53. 52 has not been good.

Yet I’d a visit with my 19 year old self...I was always seeking guidance... I would have listened

Brian Jones. Was in a hastily taken down interview
I have been a fan from your beginning and shall be long after our mortal end beatiful lady! You hypnotise me and I sit there and absorb your sound as part of my own soul! From 64, at 7 til today, still and shall always be an avid fan and admirer Thanks for the magic, memories and the lovely sound!
molto, molto bella voce....
Extraordinary tune. Mick could do it.
For many, the sad reality is that they never had a time, they could enjoy that passage.
Perhaps Marianne was one of them, growing up too fast into adulthood before she was ready to bear it. I know.
I LOVE her voice..so unique and full of feeling...I bought this when it first came out...have always loved it..
I was too young to like her , but now I'm old enough for her right now lol
Well, well. well. Does it ever get better ? She´s never claimed she was the perfect singer But still she caught us listening to something that´s close to perfection. Thank´s Marianne. You´re devine!!
I wished that I had all those channals they youth have nowadays to report rape - now I am also in the fifties and ask for my youth- this is a beatiful and true song

Lloyd Dieser I feel ya bro. Great album. Broken English
back in the 80s another life time ago...when it was all so simple and carefree...music was a key to unlocking the feelings of being locked up in an ever changing world..now its been almost 30yrs and its so sad to see how it all changed so drastically...so much changed from those simple sweet days...one of the reasons I guess I come back & listen to these oldies is its music that meant something......if I only knew back then...
