Faithfull, Marianne - Ne Me Quitte Pas Lyrics

Oh my, is this the famous Brel song??? J'aime ça, bien que ceci n'a rien à voir avec l'original. I love this, though has nothing to see with the Brel tune. Great, lovely song, she does, here again.😳 👌❤️😜

Beautiful as ever....the frail young girl voice that was to become more cutting than a steel blade into your heart....

  5. J.... J....

    Beautiful

  6. S.... C....

It's not ne me quitte pas , from Jacque Brel which is translated in english by " if You go away " , Nana mouskouri used to sing this song , but I don't know the title of it .

    S.... C....

it'sthe love theme from ' Les parapluis de Cherbourg' the movie 1964 direvted by J. Demi avec C Denevue

Faithful Forever to Marianne Faithful. Your ethereal voice and ethereal beauty have kept me focused on you and the beautiful melodies that I have memorized since I was a very young teenager. I even wore my hair like you. My mother loved you too. My mom bought me your first two vinyl records. I have the first three vinyl records and I have copies on three different CDs.

    A.... D....

So, you were another wannabe, like me? :-) I was 15 when I discovered her. Back in the 60s.

  8. K.... ....

The video isn't out of sync. The first part of the video is of her singing the song "Yesterday". The end looks to be a different song.

  9. K.... E....

Incredible I will wait for you Shiri my love...?

  10. D.... M....

Faithfull was (and is) the perfect "English Rose". She was fragile, lovely and almost unearthly...I still love her after all these years.

  11. M.... W....

Even out of sync you realise that she was a great singer. She even survived that frog Jagger!

  12. S.... ....

The divine and profane Marianne , I adore you, from ingenious ingénue to world weary chanteuse ,splendid.

  13. F.... S....

yes,its "I will wait for you" in English - try googling Connie Francis version here

  14. T.... T....

It is "Les Parapluies de Cherbourg" from the movie by the same name which was translated into English as "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg." There are other artists on YouTube who sing this song in French also. Nana Mouskouri is one of them and has a very beautiful version.

  15. u.... ....

So would you say the title is...."Love Theme from les parapluies de cherbourg"?

Slightly off topic. I never understoof why the French never capitalized their song and movie titles. I guess it is just a cultural difference.

  16. r.... ....

no, les parapluies de cherbourg was the title of the film... the song was its main theme, the 'love theme'- i don't think lagrand ever gave it a french title- the answer to your indeed pertinent question lies in the fact that gimbel, the lyricist behind the song, was american (wiki him)- also at the time french films and music were huge, however they needed something identifiable for international audiences- precisely often the title- and anyway the song was all too quickly translated...

  17. u.... ....

Good. That helps but my question was not clear. I should have asked "what is the title in French?"

My translator for "I will wait for you" gives me "Je vais attendre pour vous".

    Is that the correct title?

Or, is the title "Les Parapluies De Cherbourg"?

    u.... ....

@urdivine - The translation in french of "I will wait for you" is "Je vous attendrai" (I am french).
"Les parapluies de Cherbourg" is the title of the movie.
Marianne Faithfull is singing one of the themes of this movie. The title of this song is "Je ne pourrai pas vivre sans toi". In english "I will not be able to live without you".

  18. r.... ....

yes indeed- it's the 'i ll wait for you' from michel legrand for 64's 'the umbrellas of cherbourg' (where Catherine Deneuve supposedly sings, actually sung however by Danielle Licari)- it's been virtually sung by everybody and that's a great take from marianne faithfull- i like minnelli's and mouskouri's versions a lot too (the latter has sung it in numerous languages)- 'ne me quitte pas' is brel's song, also rendered superbly by nina simone-

  19. G.... W....

Before lots of smoking, alcohol, drugs, ... she used to look cute. Sad ...

  20. d.... ....

it's the love theme from les parapluies de cherbourg written by michel legrand who,by the way,is uncle to beach house singer-composer victoria legrand.the english title is 'i will wait for you'.

  21. v.... ....

    M. Faithfull sings "Devant Le Garage" from the french film Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg) by Jaques Demy with Catherine Deneuve and Nino Castelnuovo.

  22. h.... ....

What's "Badly out of sync" in French?

  23. R.... M....

    :') please kill me...♥

  24. g.... d....

would be nice to have the proper title of a song when is posted , marianne is magic dont matter what

  25. u.... ....

The video is not in sync, so does anyone know if she is singing "Je ne pourrai jamais vivre sans toi" in this video, [not the audio]? or is it just any video combined with her audio of "Je ne pourrai jamais vivre sans toi" ?

  26. a.... ....

@urdivine-- i have the dvd from which this song was sung--"les parapluise de cherbourg"--the umbrellas of cherbourg, starring catherine deneuve. Love this song--"i will wait for you!"

  27. u.... ....

    @crazedwitch2
Thank you for the quick reply and, I'm sorry I did not see that you already posted the answer. I didn't see it.

  28. u.... ....

This song is not "Ne Me Quitte Pas ". Does anyone know the name of this song in French? I remember an English version in the 60s.
