Faith No More - Why Do You Bother Lyrics
Why hold on?
Your hands are getting sore
You must be scared of something
From the time before, well...
We're here again
It's not your right to tell me
Where this trip will go
Pull away
You're dying today
You could enjoy it
If you could take your feelings with you
But put your mind on me
And suck my energy
And see the speed gets higher
I see you hold on tighter....
But just fatigue
Is all your face will show
It's weary from the stress
Getting delirious
"I didn't want this race
We can"t keep up this pace"
We don't want to get well
We want to go to hell
We want an urban dream
The fucking urban scream
"This time was mine to borrow
I'll pay for it tomorrow"
You'll pay for it today
And as we drive away
I'll make my pleasure greater
Push the accelerator
(and down we go)

Something in the intro and outro is so esoteric.. A GREAT dark song..
I listen to this while on my lunch break. It helps to ease my mood.

The best track of this album and maybe the best song of them, no doubt. Chuck Mosley's era is badass!!!! RIP
I swear someone sampled the outro of this song in a hip hop track.
It's tracks like this that make me think Mosley was better suited with the original band members
The krautrock influence on this track is absolute killer....
RIP Chuck Mosley
This song is so atmospheric and has so much energy... It's just awesome
One of their best songs
watt if it is
this doesnt sound like the faith no more that i know! (never heard this album). damn that song was quite disturbing.
RIP Chuck
An usual song
Such an underappreciated track. This clearly was a huge influence on Patton...though he never came close to making an album as good as chucks 2 until album of the year
They were a far better band without Mike Patton, though not as commercially accepted.
lol ... sure.
Two different bands really. And I will always love both.
they have never been commercially accepted whoever the singer
monstrous track!!
Ha ha!
This is their most atmospheric record of all time and least metal. It's far more dark and seriously toned than Introduce Yourself. At this point they were just as much new wave and semi industrial as they were hard rock or metal.
@eTengu A lot of dipshits gave them that categorization when they blew up with "Epic". This song is neither funk nor metal. There are a lot of elements in Faith No More that make them truly impossible to categorize
@billyjoelsux You may be right and it would be interesting discussion about FNM. But I just don't want to discuss with somebody who starts his arguments with insults. Bye.
You know, you are right. I didn't intend to call you a dipshit. It just irks me when I hear "Funk Metal"
First time i heard FNM was on some tv-show. Circa 1990. They performed "epic" with a hyper energized Mike Patton on vocals. I went down to the record store and found the "We care a lot" record on vinyl. Went home and listened to it and was really disappointed, but intrigued. It didn't sound anything like the band i saw perform on tv. I listened to the album over and over again like you did in them days and it really stuck. But yeah, it's funky ...and heavy ...and deep.
this album is a lot like "angel dust" in some ways...
I'd love to hear the album in order, in its entirity...having song individually pop up after playing one after the other. Loving what I'm hearing, and a lot less produced than later stuff...vastly superior. This ain't your typical 1985 album, and i'd been an fnm fan for a long time, wanting to hear this...this tops em all!
Joel Baldwin buy the record. It's how they get paid.
@J Branum live shows is the biggest money maker for bands.
f ed up........loving it.......ya baby
I am a huge FNM fan and I like Chuck Mosely's vocals. They are flawed but are perfectly suited to the music! Let Chuck's songs be Chuck's and Mike's songs be Mike's!
Well, Roddy wrote them, but he probably wrote the early Patton vocals too. Then, when Patton gained more control, Jim quit and FNM went to shit. This latest album a prime example.
Agreed but I prefer Patton on As The Worm Turns
Four people are idiots.
Four years later. It's six now. Not one of them.
live at brixton academy is the best live album ever, and the real thing is my favorite song for 10 years.
istartedajoke same here! The album itself is one of my favorites
The bass and drums!
slantyrock always on. always killing it. there will never be another foundation like the likes of these two.
...anyway this one's a blinder.swear.
@Traductus5972 I think they achieve that on almost every album they make.
Angst in the air... .. . aaaaAAAARRGGHHH
Good old tune :) the original singer of Faith No More
He sounds a little like Keanu Reeves LOL
Was he before Courtney Love? I think not..
@UnexplainedDirge watch the Faith No Man(original lineup) videos here on youtube and then listen to Killing Joke's self titled album and THEN tell me it sounds nothing alike.
@shakey27I use a program called Audacity. If the cassette sounds old and like shit so will the conversion. But I have a lot of cassettes that are out of print so it was necessary.
@shakey27 wow how can you do THAT?!
@BELACSAMOHT Everywhere!
You can really hear the Killing Joke influence on this album.
Yep! .....6 years later.. :)
TheGreaterGood80 this comment is what originally made me look up Killing Joke. Thanks! They quickly became my other favorite band.
I am happay to say I just finished converting my cassette of this to mp3 format.
IT'S NOT YOUR RIGHT TO TELL ME WHERE THIS TRIP WILL GO- Right on brotha.. right on..
I've been trying to find this song forever!!
@ralphwiggum14 yeah truthfully this is technically their most nihilistic and expiramental album. every song is a genre jump
Freaking 1985! Still sounds like it was released yesterday.
Someone needs to put the bass tabs of this song on the internet
