Faith No More - Star A.D. Lyrics
Star A.D.
See tomorrow dreamin'
You don't need your freeom
A little joke that's understood
All over the world
A little joke that's understood
It's all over and over and over and over
And dying is dry -
Like a fact of history
And when you die, you'll become something worse
Than dead -
A legend
We are forever

Back when this album first came out, I absolutely hated this song, but it’s now one of my favourites. You just cannot fuck with those bass lines.

Master class in GOOD MUSIC
Anything with Trey Spruance on guitar, I thumb up. :)
i wish he'd mix the sax higher in the mix. his vox are great.
Si a Freddie Mercury le hicieron una película, entonces a Mike Patton hay que darle, como mínimo, el gobierno de una ínsula. Tremendo cantante.
One of the best Faith No More tracks.
the Faith No More Cowboy Bebop song
First thing I thought hahaha
Ooooooverrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Puffy really steals the fucking show here, which, given all that's going on in this wicked song, is really saying a lot.
Holy fuck Pattons vocals in this song are something else
EPIC! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...........

It's has a game show kinda vibe to it, along with anime, like cowboy bebop, and for some reason hellsing.
Amazing song
Its like Steely Dan with Balls.
A touch of King Crimson in there too with the fluttering saxophone.
the guitar solo
I see were incubus took inspiration ahahah
Boyd himself has cited Patton as major influence in his vocals and delivery (at least during Fungus / s.c.i.e.c.e / Make yourself circa)...and FNM and specially Mr. Bungle (along with Primus and R.H.C.P) as musical inspiration for the band.

I really love this song. I'm not really sure in which genre of music it falls though. Maybe rock/jazz or funk fusion something like that. If you know other songs similar to this one let me know. I don't mean other faith no more songs or mr bungle. Rather songs which are very similar to that one. Like in the same genre.
i reckon it's experimental rock mixed with funk and jazz
It's "Patton" style. Just roll with the flow man.... ;-) But i would go with Tommy, Big band with a Patton flair.
Honestly, i love anything this man has a hand in musically, and the other voice work he does is just as kick ass.
It's jazz fusion! You should check out Ian Gillan Band, some pretty sick pieces like this too, a little bit more primitive(it's from the 70's)
After debating the question and various reponses I don't think the influences can be classified but they can definitely be identified. I see the Big Band comparison and the jazz. And the Psych and Prog are always there in FNM tunes. But something else, ragtime or like Buckwheat Zydeco feel maybe. Coolest band with the coolest vibe. Love FNM, and love that they aren't categorical. Comparisons? Nope. Maybe King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizards but"Sketches of Brunswick East". Or maybe a similar smoky feel from Morphine's "Good" or "Yes" albums?
You should listen to Mr.Bungle to understand where Faith No More come from.
I'm so fucking fed up with all this Prince deal... I had to come here and listen to this song.
dont be so disrespectful.
Brilliant....!
IS A JENIUS
MR BUNGLE
One of my favorite Faith no More songs!!! <3
@0:41-1:27 best vocals of Mike Patton EVER!
Michael Colby u need to hear Mr. Bungle bro
@AlonsoAlva I have heard Mr. Bungle. This remains his best vocal performanc eever
Michael Colby agreed, this is was what I used to practice vocals to.
Listen to il cupo dolore.
1:05 RASPY
mr bungles guitarist is on this album too.
Trey Spruance, one of my favorite guitarists! He did an awesome job in Faith no More! And he is still friend with the band
Is this Mr. Bungle?
Mike Patton, yes.
I totally agree with that! I also thought that it had a anime vibe to it, but I could not put the finger on what anime it was precisely. I just said that it reminded me of a theme to some random japanese cartoon, all the while jumping around thinking I was a futuristic samurai with my song playing in the background!
I like this big band style on this song. Just proof Patton can do anything.
Hahahahahaha!
I know this song came out before, but this has a cowboy bebop feel to it.
figata!!!
please tell me what happened to heather o rourke!?
@phreestylesk8r No...this so sooooo goooooooood...i love this album...but it takes balls and brains to understand.
