Fair To Midland - Bright Bulbs And Sharp Tools Lyrics
Now heaven knows I got one short damn fuse
So come sit down a spell while I light up the room
If walls could talk, they'd know it all
So we live in the sticks
And aren't some fish you cancatch
And it makes my skin crawl
I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed
So what's the use?
She knew.
She knew.
He fights like hell
Because he wants to glow
And would tackle the sun
To be a bright bulb
[Chorus:]
He's gray
And has to hide somewhere between black and white
It's safe but never was brave before it's over
I hope he takes you too
You too
They say attack can be your best defense
And I got mother's smile and both my dad's fists
John Doe escapes carry his name and when it's time to sign
Ask where, not why
And it makes my blood boil
Those black letter days all the mail just winds up lost
[Chorus:]
He's gray
And has to hide somewhere between black and white
It's safe but never was brave before it's over
I hope he takes you too
You too
You'll see whispers in the winter
My temper doesn't laugh
And every spring I hear them sing
I hear them sing
Every spring I hear them sing
I hear them sing
Every spring I hear them sing
He's going down
He's going under the ground
I hope he takes you too
You too

One of the best bands out of Dallas. Ever.
"Bright Bulbs And Sharp Tools"
Now heaven knows I got one short damn fuse

So what's the use?
She knew.
She knew.
He fights like hell
Because he wants to glow
And would tackle the sun
To be a bright bulb
I wonder if he'll wake us up in time
[Chorus:]
He's gray
And has to hide somewhere between black and white
It's safe but never was brave before it's over
I hope he takes you too

totally unrelated but the end of this song sounds like fucking I Am Made of Chalk (Crystal Castles)
i hear them sing too
Anybody know where I can buy this album? Been looking everywhere and I can't seem to find it. Hell I can't even seem to be able to pirate it.
Amazon won't sell to Australia, unfortunately :(
that sucks, what about ebay??I saw a lot of FTMs there
Only ones I could find were like, $60+. As good as it is, I just can't justify spending that much on an album.
you're right,keep searching!
it's worth the distress
"They say attack can be your best defense, and I got my mom's smile and both my dad's fists."
"If walls could talk, they'd be know-it-alls."
these guys will be missed. one of the best bands I've heard in years. and I'm old school.
RIP in peace FTM :(
It beats me how they are not bigger than what they are, truly awe inspiring.
fucking beautiful
You're complaining about people saying how good a song is? get a grip, and yes most music does suck, but music taste is obviously subjective, but if you want to get any meaning out of a song, this is probably the best/ one of the only bands for that. So let people praise it.
If you are implying that you have to like the shitty pop music we have today to be a "true music lover" then no i am not true music lover, however, you could call me something more accurate, a real music lover.
Do you call yourself a true music lover? Just wondering.
Looks like Justin Bieber visited and threw his vote in.
Another band that gives me hope is Hurt. I heard both of these bands on the radio for a short period of time before they could ever get any real recognition. If you were willing to give FTM a chance, give Hurt a chance too because they have really awesome albums that deserve several listens before they are judged. Also they give great acoustic live performances. Check them out, J. Loren is an amazing violinist and lyricist.
@sandra rodgers. I saw them at The Diesel in Pittsburgh and The Starland Ballroom in NJ. Both times they were the show. The headlined in Pitts and the place was rocking. The opened for Ten Years in NJ and the stole the show. Darroh, Cliff and the boys are accomplished musicians that can Rock. I'll see them again if they're close that is within 200 miles.
I wish I could go to a good song like this on youtube without having to deal with people bitching all the time about how other music sucks, or how good a song is.
If you had half a brain it would be lonely.
Been around since 98'
There are no words to describe the mastery and originality of this band period.
they aren't really new maybe to you but they been around for awhile thats how good they are.
they started in 1998......How many bands do you know that have been together that long and still make music fun and un-commercialized? Go see them LIVE before you judge !!!! it will blow you away the way they perform.
what the FUCK are you on?
generic as fuck, heard all this shit before, they're not doing anything new, waste of time
I don't want that, but i also don't want the band to break up because they don't have the impact they want.
then the only way to do that is to start playing pop music. I doubt you want that.
BEcause the band might care about masses.
every spring i hear them sing, i love that part ;P
Dawn the voices are boring ... unfortunately for the awesome instru
@Kyd0x those who understand quality will know about this music. Why do you care about masses
@doubbleu yup the guitar is fairly boring
I hate when people assume popularity is bad. The band deserves a huge audience
I just inked... all over my seat. Its a mess
@Kyd0x Recognition to me is more about quality than quantity. Do you want 100,000,000 little fake blond duckfaced bitches listening to this stuff and going on about it on facebook, or do you want 50,000 dedicated, real fans that feel it through and through, in their bones and get an eargasm every time they listen? Besides, this puts them at the near-far right of the bell curve, where the people with higher intelligence swim. All art that exists in this area has a limited audience
This song is so freaking good!
I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed so what's the use?
she knew... holy fuck that hurts...
I don't know if it's been said before (/lies)
But...
Fair to Midland does *everything* right. Starting with being.
i like the demo better. i think someone must of told them it was hard to hear what he was saying because the lyrics are much clearer in the album version, but i feel the song looses something because of it
Wow...they give the good shit to bieber
I'm shitting everybody's britches because this album is so damn good.
@ShantoS I would have to agree, in the state of music we are in right now where EVERYTHING IS BASICALLY SHIT, these guys come and give me hope for music. What's sad is they will never get the recognition they deserve, no instead it gets given to fuckin' lady gaga's newest piece of shit which is ultimately just rehashed garbage from the 80's pop hayday.
There are no words adequate enough to describe the mastery of this song and album.
