Failure - Come Crashing Lyrics

Is there something stuck in your eyes?
A particle left from the past
An empty friend you wished would float away
But it's diggin' in, diggin' in for good
And it changed the way you see, the way you look through me

Is there something mixed with your blood?
Something pharmical and fast
Expecting anything to dissipate
When you've given up, you've given up for good
And you'll stay the way you have, the way you'll always be

You've already lost the plot, you better turn back around
When there's nothing to lose you know it's gotta come crashing down
Come crashing down

Can the air outside these windows be that cold?
Don't obsess, you need to trust your bones
With your goggles fastened tight as they can go
You step outside and try and face the light you lost
It doesn't matter if it takes all night

Can the air outside these windows be that cold?
Don't obsess, you need to trust your bones

It's not enough
No it's not enough
Not even close to it
You've given up the good fight
Don't obsess, you need to trust your bones

    My favorite song

  2. c.... 3....

Thanks for sharing, been my favorite underrated band since I heard stuck on you. I’m going to see them Monday with swervedriver! I can’t wait.

  3. B.... ....

    What BPM is this?

  4. D.... ....

Good to know they still write about the themes of substance abuse...though they seem to be more of a 2nd hand experience in their observations of others getting into hard stuff and trying to give a little advise about what they are in for it they wanna be cool and try and find their own inner Fantastic Planet

  5. R.... R....

Great song, easily in my top 5 for them.

  6. w.... n....

    Brilliant!

  7. M.... R....

    So good

  9. j.... r....

my bones are dirty fucking liars.

  10. J.... C....

Seriously, why is this version so different from the album? This is unbelievably good!! The drums are completely different?! Am I nuts?

    J.... C....

+Jared Colors The youtube compression probably changed how they sound. Although, this Could always be a different take.

  11. J.... C....

This version is incredible. It's totally different from the album.

  12. D.... ....

Can the air outside these windows be that cold? Don't obsess, you need to trust your bones.

I grew up in the 90's but I am just finding Failure.

  14. B.... S....

Absolutely amazing! I had the privilege of covering "Muffled Snaps" on the official Failure tribute album "The Nurse Who Loved Me" and with Failure being my all time favorite band you can imagine how awesome that was. Ken Andres influence is the reason I moved 2000 miles from home and went to college for audio production and recording.  I am so glad they decided to do this.

  15. c.... ....

I saw failure in san jose,ca. on a radio fest bill.On the fantastic planet tour,so glad I got to see them. Met ken andrews in deep ellum, texas on secrets of satellite tour, very nice guy.I cant wait for the new failure album, these guys are killer songwriters. This song is pure ear candy.

    c.... ....

@cyclopsvideo1 - Failure is the best!

    c.... ....

@clownsec honk Yes,I have to listen to this sing at least once a day, cant get enough.

  16. C.... M....

    Goddamn this is fantastic

  17. e.... ....

just as good as the old stuff, maybe like this even better, it sounds so good, the recording is crazy high quality

  18. M.... M....

Fantastic planet is probably the best rock album of the 90s I could say I listened to it through some rough years, which is true, but it's more of just an admiration for the perfect group of people coming together and putting out a great Cd. I'm glad they are back together

  19. N.... K....

This has such a secrets of the lost satellite vibe until the whole band kicks in - then it's pure failure....I absolutely it.

  20. p.... ....

    Seeing these boys tonight!

  21. J.... K....

This is the one of the best songs i've ever heard in my entire life...words, music, hooks, length.  It's perfect.  Can't listen to it without getting either pissed or upset...I cannot wait for the album.

    J.... K....

I agree its powerfull but dosent go to one xtreme it teases you with your own feelings

  22. P.... H....

you didn't have shit like the internet back in the day. I rate don't even read any of these comments.

    P.... H....

newfangled internet, with its comments and whatnot. i don't read em, i just leave em.

  23. D.... M....

94' my mistake...they melted my face off.

  24. D.... M....

Vocal production takes me back to Magnified. I discovered this band when they opened for Tool in 92'. Met Ken at the Town Pump years ago...very personable guy. Major influence on my life and my music.
    So glad they're back:)

  25. p.... m....

such a wonderful song!failure is back, for sure!I just wait for their coming in france, and a new album of the same quality,I hope.If that's the case they will smash it all!

  26. H.... ....

I need more Failure in my life. :)

  27. S.... G....

Wow! Amazing after all these years. Haven't missed a beat guys.

    S.... G....

You might say their tempo has stayed the same....

  28. s.... ....

Pretty cool song. "Failure" opened up for "Tool" in March of this year - (2014). A show I would have loved to see. It sux living in Alabama sometimes because most of my favorite bands never come here. :(
Good luck Failure on making new music. Maybe you can tell Maynard to do the same. Lol.

    s.... ....

Failure opening for Tool would have been great to see! I saw the next best thing and saw Failure, APC, and Puscifer all together at Maynard's 50th birthday concert, it was amazing. Danny Carey even showed up with Justin Chancellor and they played "Sober" it was truly mind blowing.

    s.... ....

@TheFoxandGrapes Saw them in Vegas on that tour, it was impossibly perfect. There's buzz about a new full album this year, too. Keep your fingers crossed...

  29. o.... ....

Oh man .....WOW!!! Just blown away!!! All I can say!!!!!!!!!

  30. s.... b....

this song feels like earth is dying and the characters are looking for a new planet.

  31. S.... M....

    Still good!

  32. k.... w....

It only sounds like rabbit due to the newer production, and most likely better equipment. This is definitely failure.  They're also sober, which would change a few things too....

  33. J.... B....

How soon will the new album?

    J.... B....

@Jesús Bassbreaker They announced they've recorded and mixed the album. June 2015 will be the best month of this year!

  34. J.... C....

You guys have soooo not lived up to your name.

  35. W.... ....

Heaven is a new Failure album and reunion =)))

    W.... ....

And we've got both, friend. :)

  36. c.... ....

Freaking amazing. The part at 3:20 is epic. Solid drums from Kellii. Love this band. Welcome back!!!

  37. o.... ....

Awesome tune. Just hate digital recording, so intense. check out how big they sounded on fantastic planet compared to this recording.

    o.... ....

I agreed with you when I first read this, but on a second listen, that bridge is galactic.

    o.... ....

This is most likely a mix of analog and digital recording. Analog front end, digital editing and mastering. Ken Andrews is known for achieving special sounds as a rock producer. I used to work in the industry and worked with him several times. "digital" didn't hurt music (CDs are digital, even way back then) - it's Internet distribution and the recording industry's reluctance to take chances.

  38. A.... G....

    Fantastic track!

  39. s.... ....

Born in 83, love failure till the end of time. Got clean 1 year ago. Love failure. MuaH xXoXoXx

  40. J.... G....

    I'm freaking ooouut!!!!!!!!

  41. M.... B....

Ken gets it and I don't think the band will put out crap. Moreeee!!

  42. S.... ....

Kens awesome and all, but I'm really hoping Greg does lyrics for the album.

    S.... ....

Agreed. Let Ken stick to mixing and polishing. Greg's lyrics were mind-blowingly good on Fantastic Planet.

Ken is definitely amazing and I don't mind his lyrics on his solo and ON projects, but they definitely weren't Fantastic Planet caliber. If Greg can somehow get back to where he was during Fantastic Planet without going back on drugs, I'd say this upcoming album will be a stunner for sure.

  43. G.... V....

    Superb track!

  44. A.... G....

Glad to see this, Ken Andrews is one of the most creative, but such underrated "soundscape makers"! I like the mix, the mood here. So pity that "Failure" didn't get more recognition in the eyes of community at the late 90's, because of greedy and formal jurists of WB, who referred that the band worked on the over deadline of recording. I waiting for the new EP, with impatience, 'cause the works by "Year of Rabbit", "On" and Ken's solo album were magnificent and were "sounding so fresh"!

  45. d.... ....

Do you have "the focus "?

    d.... ....

    Yeah where is it???

  46. d.... ....

Do you have "the focus "?

  47. V.... M....

Different, sounds more like Kens solo stuff/ Year of the Rabbit. But you can hear Gregs influence in the noise..... great stuff.

    V.... M....

There is a logical reason his music may sound like this. perhaps its the fact that he is much older now and have matured over the years. Everyone has to realize is that artists not not untouched by maturity: they are human. You mature with your music. Its that way with every band even when they are still together through the years. Let me give you an example. The Foo Fighters music have elements of change since the 90s.The post nirvana sound developed into post grudge style. Take good look at the Beatles and look at their music style from the first album to Abbey Road. Even the cover suggested they have matured. Initially they all looked the same; same clothes, etc. But Abbey Road's cover showed us we were moving out the 60s era and into the 70s, and the band looked like individuals rather than the typical "Beatles Trademark" image we are all familiar with.I notice this phenomenon with Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, etc. The band can change styles, music direction, etc by new band members, industry pressures, or by the band making the change themselves.

There is a 22 minute interview with Failure's leading member ken Andrews about the equipment he used with the band. In the video he explained that the equipment he had used, and the difficulty of trying to obtain  the same equipment now after their reunion. He mentioned it was too hard to retrieve or have the budget to peruse it. (i would add that it was almost 20 years ago so the stuff he used in Fantastic Planet is almost VINTAGE NOW if not already).
Here is a link to that video:

@moorejr1400 Thanks for the feedback. It's obvious you're a music lover and that was a great observation.

    V.... M....

@Robert Benedetto I am discussing information about the a rock band who united after about 18 years. Why do you feel a need to randomly insult a stranger? Do you communicate to people like that in person or you feel that you can do that because you are hiding behind a keyboard, writing random insults with the hope to get a reaction?

    V.... M....

@moorejr1400 ignore him, don't feed the troll.

    V.... M....

Nothing wrong with that. Kens solo stuff is awesome as well. Absolutely love YOTR!

  48. l.... ....

I saw them live the other night in Houston and they played another new song.

  49. j.... ....

On that note, I am going to see Failure tonight at House of Blues, and I look forward to hearing "Fantastic Planet" and "Magnified".  That is Failure

  50. j.... ....

This is not Failure.   This is Ken Andrews.  I like most of his stuff, but I don't like this track.  It's boring

  51. R.... L....

Wow.  Absolutely exceeds any expectations I may have had.  Great friggin job guys!

  52. S.... ....

I'm so excited that they're back after all this time. This band means so much to me.

  53. w.... ....

it has this 90s "magic" sound that i really missed. so glad these guys are back.

  54. E.... E....

Boston was amazing. One of the best shows I've ever been to. Can't wait for a new album in 2015.

  55. b.... ....

kinda boring, I was expecting more from failure.

  56. A.... ....

Plays like an epilogue to Fantastic Planet .. a relapse , it's absolutely brilliant.

  57. f.... ....

What a victory!! Incredible reunion. I thought I'd never see the day. Feels so great to still be dazzled by a band I so loved growing up.

  58. E.... M....

I am a big fan.  I never thought I'd hear new Failure again.  To think I bought Magnified because I liked the cover.  I did the same with Hum's You'd Prefer an Astronaut.  This song is very much in line with everything I loved about the band.  Nostalgia for days.  Can't wait for the Atlanta show.

    E.... M....

Thats why i bought magnified as well.

  59. S.... ....

    wow thats really awesome

  60. f.... ....

I freaking LOVE IT! i'm not gonna  say i've been waiting because... well, i was born in 96, but i thought they were dead and never coming back, so yeah, this makes me pee myself.

    f.... ....

@***** i already think this may be the best song of 2014, everything about it, is just epic. and the way its different, is that its not as heavy, but i'm hoping for heavy stuff, from the new album

    f.... ....

@***** saw them live at lollapalooza 97 in nashville... didnt know who they were then, but quickly became my favorite band.

    f.... ....

@sebastien berube the ending is as heavy as anything

  61. e.... 3....

I saw them live and I'm still addicted to Fantastic Planet! This track is so well done, the perfect comeback - a must buy! ...also who the hell disliked this, WTF!

  62. a.... l....

Just when I thought space rock was dying!

  63. d.... ....

I'm speechless I've been listening to failure so much and they drop new material out of nowhere I can't believe it . Sounds so sick they picked up where they left off classic signature failure sound . Finally after 18 years

  64. C.... C....

you rock, just saw them live last night, and going to see them again tonight... They are a huge inspiration for mankind

  65. C.... S....

I don't like it. It sounds too much like Ken Andrews side projects.  I prefer Autolux over them...I hope this isn't the direction they are going.  Boring.

    C.... S....

yup; I'm going to the Dallas show, can't wait for Fantastic Planet material!!!

    C.... S....

cool, i saw them in toronto a couple weeks ago. you're in for a treat. they've never sounded better.

    C.... S....

that's good...do they have Troy on guitar? or is it just a trio? The videos I saw from Cali there were only 3 of them and I was hoping to have that extra guitar to widen the sound....and Toronto? Awesome I've always wanted to visit, been to British Columbia once, Victoria area

    C.... S....

@Colton Sorrels I saw them in ATL at the masquerade this year and they were just a trio. They sounded HUGE though.

    C.... S....

@Evan Morris yeah I went to the Dallas show, it was amazing

  66. D.... ....

Youre uploading stuff again? Yeah! :D

    D.... ....

Haha. yeah! It's been a long while. I just uploaded 2 new stuff today, and i am uploading a full EP stream right now. thanks for keeping in touch!

  67. B.... N....

    anyone have a torrent?

    B.... N....

If you see them on tour you can support the band and buy the EP! Can't wait to get my copy and see them next tuesday.

    B.... N....

Or just purchase the song on bandcamp for $1.29 if you are countries/continents far away. Completely worth it. Link in the description box.

    B.... N....

Seriously? Been clamoring for 17 years for them to reunite and the first thing you want to do is steal their hard work, get fkd.

  68. J.... B....

    Love the "Empty Friend" reference

    J.... B....

@Jordan Batson What is the reference? I suck at understanding lyrics, I'm way too focused at the insturments.

    J.... B....

The third line in the first verse is "An empty friend you wished would float away"

    J.... B....

@Jake the Mdog Its a drug reference

  69. K.... u....

    Nice. thanks for this!

    K.... u....

    You're welcome!! :)
