Fagen, Donald - Snowbound Lyrics
Snowbound
Let's sleep in today
Wake me up
When the wolves come out to play
Heat up
We're gonna turn this town
Into a city of lights
At nervous time
We roll downtown
We've got scenes to crash
We're gonna trick and trash
We're gonna find some fun
We hit the street
With visors down
Sealed up tight
We can beat the freeze
And get saved tonight
Let's stop off at the Metroplex
That little dancer's got some style
Yes she's the one I'll be waiting for
At the stage door
Snowbound
Let's sleep in today
Wake me up
When the wolves come out to play
Heat up
These white nights
We're gonna turn this town
Into a city of lights
We take the tube
To Club Hi Ho
It's about deadspace
It's a marketplace
And a party house too
Something new
From Charlie Tokyo
It's a kind of pyramid
With a human heart
Beating in an ion grid
A critic grabs us
And says without a smile
The work seduces us with light
Eviva laughs and we step out
Into the blue-white night
Snowbound
Let's sleep in today
Wake me up
When the wolves come out to play
Heat up
These white nights
We're gonna turn this town
Into a city of lights
We sail our icecats on the frozen river
Some loser fires off a flare, amen
For seven seconds it's like Christmas day
And then it's dark again
And then it's dark again
Snowbound
Let's sleep in today
Wake me up
When the wolves come out to play
Heat up
These white nights
We're gonna turn this town
Into a city of lights
Snowbound
Let's sleep in today
Wake me up
When the wolves come out to play
Heat up
These white nights
We're gonna turn this town
Into a city of lights

Fagen, Donald Snowbound Comments
Wonderful !
After hearing this, NOW it’s officially Christmas!
Groovy ,funky and swinging from start till end...
Walter's solo is tasty.
Snowbound and Glamour Profession are my two favorite Steely Dan Tunes.
Gotta state the obvious, this isn't SD song, it's Donald Fagen
@Rusty Kuntz well isnt Fagen Steely Dan now?
The bass on Snowbound is EVERYTHING!!!
Adoro questo brano sin dall'uscita in Italia nel 1993.
Taking that groove to a higher level!! Donald "you be the man" Fagen, Steely Dan!!
Замечательно!
Спасибо)
GREAT SONG SMOOTH LISTENING SONG ,SONG MAKES YOU DAYDREAM ING ABOUT BEING IN California riding the ocean highways
Donald, could you play a show in Santa Fe?
Thanks for putting this up instead of me buying it for the 3rd time. How about that Nightfly?
I remember this video on Beavis and Butt-head back in the day
Songwriting on a totally different level. Thank you for the countless hours of enjoyment Donald Fagen.
The best of my mind. Me 18 at this time. Best wishes to all!
I do not know how the album "Kamakiriad" didn't get the acclaim it deserved. It is brilliant and
timeless. You can't listen to it and not groove. My favorite tune is which ever one I'm listening to at the time,
Well...it's not as good as Nightfly so that's probably why...haha. Of course not much is. Also you have to remember the times.....when Nightfly came out that kind of music was still sort of in the pop range. When this came out people had moved on to things like the Spin Doctors and other things like that.
This album won a Grammy!!!
Kamakiriad is as good as The Nightfly, maybe better. It did not break new ground at the time, but 30 years later that doesn't matter. To me they feel like two parts of one project.
this record is so damn good. Why people slept on this, I will never understand.
Sunday afternoons in South Africa
Beautiful track...."Kamakiriad" is a fantastic album
Kamakiriad is a real masterpiece. I put it up there with Brian Wilson's Pet Sounds
I agree
That bass line will give your woofers something to do.
Donald just paints a photo on each song of where you want to be. Magnificent!

My old roommate in San Francisco turned me on to this album. Ted Von Wettburg. No idea what happened to that dude. He had great taste in music though, and was a very chill fellow.
👋 hi
My. Groove.
Absolutely love the bass!!
Walter Becker, of course.
Scott Bango Arce 🔥
The the Ski's.
epic! thanx for sharing!!!
The death of Walter Becker brought me here. I recall being transfixed at the guitar/bass playing in this song that I stopped my conversation at a restaurant where it was playing in the background to find out about it. R.I.P., sir!!!
The bass is so smooth it's almost disgusting
@Chad Blomme Bull shit.
We were all affected by Walter's death in some way. A deep appreciation for his contributions and Donald's assistance in SD as well as in their own solo works, like this fine piece, is why I love all of their collective works.
Yes, this is Walter Becker on the bass
@Chad Blomme You're wrong, Becker did not co write this song. Admit when you make a mistake.
That musical arrangement is awesome.
All Walter Becker.
This is my favorite CD of Steely Dan. I love it even after all these years, I play it a lot and I crank it up when I hear Snowbound.
jnyc Actually it was a collaboration with Walter Becker who produced the album.
So I should just leave the error uncorrected so that misinformation can spread? This is not a Steely Dan album - if it was, it would say "Steely Dan" right there on the cover.
L. Romero Walter Becker Is all over this as bassist, guitar, writer and producer, so, in all but name, it’s Steely Dan!
That comment only shows how little you truly know about Steely Dan and their process. Neither Donald nor Walter would claim this is a Steely Dan album and that right there should be enough for ALL of us
Well this comment thread got salty fast
Bevis & Butthead brought me here.... damn shame but true! HEAT UP.....
D-Moss World same!
The world may never know...
Heh heh cool.
GTFOH ! Lol that's hilarious/awesome ..
there was an actual video for this song, which was really cool. can't find it anywhere now ?
pointnozzleaway The claymation vid with the cars with heads? Lost forever it seems..
it is on Vimeo.com in ALL it's glory !
On YouTube now. Just got to see it the other day
I remember Beavis and Butt-head played this video it was dope that way ahead of its time
The guitar solo isn't good and goes on forever. I think it is actually Walter Becker. They should have used Larry Carlton or someone else who could get around those changes.
one of my fav solos of all time, actually...
I agree on this one, much as I like the song
4:33 is one of my favorite licks in guitar solos, so I respectfully dissent
True true its good for WB but that's it.
Right from the get go with Elliot Randall, there was lots of dissonance in the solos. Walter had a strange style when he chose to buthere it fits well, Larry Carlton would have played it too correctly, if you get my drift.
This track reminds me of my father's driving to reach the place where we used to spend our holidays!
