Expose - As Long As I Can Dream Lyrics

When this world that I see
Is too hard to take and too much for me
And everything's in blue

When the rain's pourin' down
I can't find the sun
Don't mean the sun can't found
It always comes through

There's not a soul that's lost
That can't find its way
There's not a night that's long
That can't find the day

As long as I can dream
There's a better world
Oh, there's a better world
I see it shinin'

And in my dreams I see
There's a better world
Oh, there's a better world
As long as I can dream

In my heart there's a place
Where there's always hope
And always a way
To make it through the night

And in my soul, I believe
If I just have faith
Then I will be free
I'll be all right

There's not a soul that's lost (not a soul)
That can't find its way
There's not a night that's long
That can't find the day

As long as I can dream
There's a better world
Oh, there's a better world
I see it shinin'

And in my dreams I see
There's a better world
Oh, there's a better world
As long as I can dream

Oh

There's not a soul that's lost
That can't find its way
There's not a night that's long

As long as I can dream
(As long as I can dream)
There's a better world
I see it shinin' on me

(In my dreams I see)
In my dreams I see. yeah
There's a better world
As long as I can dream

(There's a better world, there's a better world)
I can see it
(I can see it shinin')
Yes, it's shinin' on me
(In my dreams I see)
In my dreams I see
(There's a better world)
Just as long as I can dream

  18. P.... S....

    Great voices, really nice song.

  19. j.... ....

Looking back I realized this group is a very talented trio of singers. They beat the hell out of the other pop groups or soloists of that time. I mean seriously Ann clearly sings better than Tiffany, Debbie Gibson. This was my favourite album and only album I liked from them. Never heard their songs before till I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me. Agree... why can't songs and videos be like this anymore? The world has changed and taken a turn for the worse.

  20. M.... M....

60 people don't think there is a better world cause they are allready living in such one. ♥ a.k.a they are angles

This woman has a great voice.

    love this song

  24. M.... L....

Did anyone know who the guy is in the video?

    M.... L....

Yeah, wud really like to know whos tht guy.

  25. T.... D....

This album, good as it was, lacked the guts, and heart of Gioia Bruno. They went a bit too "Wilson Phillips" with their ballads, and, although the dance tracks were fun, they just weren't as good as they had been with Gioia, and Mr. Martinee.

  26. d.... b....

Like list number 4 says! Nowadays it's hard to find someone who can build a real and strong relation and to build something strong really!

  27. d.... b....

Back in that year! In 1992, there was no Kia until 6 years later that year! But i still like them.
Nowadays they're too many cars on the road out there! Expose always does a good job than anyone else! Keep it up!

  28. C.... f....

    There's always hope
    I'll keep believing that !!!

  29. D.... A....

I always had a crush on Ann back in the day :) Was good to see she had a lead part in this song. I think "Walk Along With Me" from their second album was her only other lead.

    D.... A....

David Allen she also sang lead vocals on stop listen look and think

    D.... A....

h jacobs oh yes I forgot about that one lol.

    D.... A....

Ann sang lead on 8 Exposé songs: "Extra, Extra" and "Love Is Our Destiny" from _Exposure_ ; "Stop, Listen, Look, and Think" (which SHOULD have gotten a proper single release) and "Now That I Found You" from _What You Don't Know_ ; and "As Long As I Can Dream," "In Walked Love," "I Think I'm in Trouble," and "Angel" from _Exposé_ .

  30. B.... F....

    "Wherefore, whoso believeth
in God might with surety hope for A BETTER WORLD, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God." Ether 12:4 in the Book of Mormon (emphasis mine)

  31. d.... ....

Love Ann's voice. Wish she would've been showcased more.

  32. P.... M....

    Beautyfull in every ways.....

  33. J.... B....

    what is her name?

  34. O.... G....

Great song! They should perform this more in concert!

  35. T.... F....

Great song and one of my all-time favorites right behind ‘In Walked Love’. From a bygone era when females could sing and didn’t have to dress less to be beautiful. Always wished Ann got more lead vocals. They still remain in my constant play list and personally think they are still the best female group of all time.

  36. R.... F....

    I love this song,!

  37. s.... ....

I love what they are wearing.  Back in the days where women didn't have to be almost naked in videos.  Different times.  I miss it.

  38. L.... V....

That Vanessa Williams era production style.

  39. R.... L....

    the guy looks familiar.....

    R.... L....

Do u know who it is?

  40. S.... S....

I never dream!!!!!!!!!!!! I never daydream...

  41. A.... S....

This should have been a bigger hit.

    A.... S....

They were huge. Their first 7 singles all hit the top 10 on the Billboard 100. But they had the problem of being a produced group with all the management problems that go along with that (producers taking advantage of the singers) and then Gioia lost her voice and by the time their 3rd album came out music styles had changed. But they were definitely a favorite of my childhood and really big in the mid to late 80s.

    A.... S....

Kaveh Maguire you mean music style or the generation of music

    A.... S....

I think both really. They got their break when freestyle was huge but at the same time their biggest hit was Seasons Change which was a ballad and had crossed over into pop success. When the third album came out freestyle wasn't really as popular so they went a more adult contemporary route. I enjoyed the third album but it just wasn't the same. But that doesn't take away from the fact that their first two albums were hugely successful and they were the biggest girl group of the time.

Also I think any time a band is put together by a producer there are going to be problems that come with the success (initial girls in the group were let go, new girls had legal battles with the producers because they were underpaid, etc.).

    A.... S....

money talks. they have sexy music.

    A.... S....

@Kellie Fowler you stole my reply ! Blessings !

  42. J.... L....

    Co-written with Roy Orbison?

    J.... L....

Yup. The two met before he died in '88.

  43. l.... ....

How much is that guy benching anyways?

  44. p.... ....

Annie showing her range in this song. Awesome back-up vocals by Kelly and Jeanette!!!

Exposé is my favorite group of all time. I have always loved this beautiful song and it has helped me to cope with many tough times in my life. I'm glad that Ann sings the lead vocals in this one❤

    b.... ....

I just remarked to a friend of mine, "And damn, they gave Ann the lead!" .....lol... I love it. These my girls...

    b.... ....

    Exposé are awesome :)

    b.... ....

This song will always be my all time fav of expose song

  50. T.... R....

the truly sad part is the American music industry changed, leaving talent like this behind with Grunge and hip hop taking lead and pop music just being all over the place.

    T.... R....

Todd Ramsey they sing half nude now and spend more time dancing than singing

    T.... R....

Todd Ramsey nothing is wrong with hip hop of the 80s through about 2004. Then style became more important than real talent in ALL genres.

    T.... R....

@LaShanda Parker The rap from the 80's was good, sure, except I would say it went downhill after 1996. By 2003, hip hop was basically illiterate and superficial. Yes, there was still some decent, legitimate rap in 2005 but most of the genre was very quickly deteriorating. I've done nothing except stay away from it since 2006. I can't believe it still exists on the mainstream radar somehow.

  51. M.... L....

what movie was this in. i could have swore that this was in a movie. i dont think i can say anything bad about these ladies. awesome all around.

    M.... L....

    Would that be Debelah Morgan?

  52. C.... ....

Wasn't this when bruno had some health issues with her throught that's why she was replaced?

    C.... ....

indeed, she had really issues with her throat, so she quitted for some years

  53. C.... ....

I forgot about this song. great song

  54. C.... L....

i killed the replay button hard!!!!nice vocals specially the leads

  55. P.... M....

    L'harmonie des voix est superbe

  56. J.... S....

I love Gioia, but it took me hearing this song to see Ann had the best voice in the group.

    J.... S....

Interesting! I can relate.... but in this way: Each lead singer I hear is my favorite at that moment... lol! I love EACH of their voices for slightly different reasons..... each has a tone that is all her own. Jeanette has the plaintive, clear pop voice. Gioia has the soulful, raspy voice. Ann has the seasoned, trained, experienced, mature voice (apparently, according to what I'm hearing on this track!).. and each was given the vocal to match the need of the song. Brilliant. Lewis Martineé was the man.

    J.... S....

I thought Ann was an alto but she might be a mezzo. Thoughts?

    J.... S....

She just obviously has amazingly good range!

    J.... S....

+marvelboy74 Sounds about right. Listening to this and "Stop, Listen, Look and Think" leads me to believe she had the most expansive vocal range in the group.

    J.... S....

Joe Spaz is Kelley Moneymaker the lead vocalist on any of the songs

  57. F.... M....

They remind me of Wilson Phillips.

    F.... M....

Very close, the songs are close, same time period, same sound (1987/1992)! Expose' has a slight deeper tone to their songs though

  58. N.... A....

I love this beautiful song <3 it makes me feel good

  59. D.... K....

I really enjoy this song!! keeps my tthoughts positive about life

  60. f.... ....

Out of the three members, I always found Ann to be the cat's meow on looks... but never heard her voice stand out on any of their tracks. Now I'm happy. :)

Any other notable Expose tracks with Ann singing lead?

    f.... ....

+fakshen1973 There is a key to the person that sings lead on the What You Don't Know album, and as mentioned above, Ann sings lead on several tracks on the Exposure album. On this album, their third, Ann really stands out with the lead on "Angel".

    f.... ....

fakshen1973 Ann Curless Sings Lead Vocals:

    -Extra Extra
    -Love Is Our Destiny
    -Now That I Found You
    -Stop, Listen, Look & Think
    -In Walked Love
    -Angel
    -I Think I'm In Trouble

  61. T.... u....

Their songs make me believe ,maybe there is someone out there that will truly love me. As long as I can dream..........

    T.... u....

    Awwwwwww

    T.... u....

I agreed today it's really not easy to find the good person for a serious relation and to build something strong....

    T.... u....

true that. i found someone its up and down night and day.

    T.... u....

    Teresa uNDERWOOD me too

    T.... u....

Same,Teresa. Hopefully,i find her one day.

  62. t.... ....

    Beautiful song

  63. a.... C....

Thanks so much for uploading this. I love this song; it got me through the time my father was dying. I actually thought of it as things he might be thinking. "There's a better world as long as I can  dream." Love you, Papa.

  64. P.... ....

yeah,, In Walked Love,,   love it,,

  65. E.... B....

thank You LOVE this song over the  Years I have listened to it for its Hope in motion.

  66. T.... C....

Ann is amazing. Im freestyle artist TommyT would love to make a track with her. Contract me ann. On my fb tommytcabret. Thank u.

  67. A.... O....

What?! She can sing? You go, girl!!

    A.... O....

    @Anthony Ogans
Yeah when Gioia Bruno  was booted for her illness they needed someone else to sing.

  68. A.... ....

I think Expose went a little more Adult Contemporary on their last album and I loved it!  Great song and video.

    A.... ....

+Anthony Bertorelli Which, looking back, was pretty ill-advised, given that even Wilson Phillips' own popularity was severely declining by the time this album was released. They should've at least pushed more of the uptempo tunes as singles instead of all those ballads.

    A.... ....

I blame it on Arista head, Clive Davis, who wanted them to "compete" alongside Wilson Phillips so he sought out ballads for them, practically ignoring their dance roots on the EXPOSÉ album.

  69. M.... ....

    That's a song right there.

  70. V.... D....

One of the best girl group ever. They all gave great voices, Gioia included.

    V.... D....

    @livia1881 definitely agree with you.

    V.... D....

+livia1881 them and the bangles are every under rated

    V.... D....

Albert Pringle They're both popular in the Philippines

    V.... D....

They were one of the most respectable too. If not the most. Nothing trashy from them on any level.

    V.... D....

And there still one of the best

  71. t.... ....

    They missing someone?

  72. 5.... ....

Why have I never heard of this group until now. Really beautiful music

    5.... ....

probably because you're not old enough

    5.... ....

@Amy Cheng lol yea I was listening to Expose' while I was at ft rucker (Army) back in 1987/1988

  73. K.... !....

I always knew Ann was easy on the eyes but I didn't think she sang lead on any of their songs.  Nice to see that she actually did.  Pretty good voice too.

    K.... !....

Perhaps, but I always preferred the original members. Ann is my favorite so hearing her sing more made me very happy! ;)

    K.... !....

Yeah Ann is a great singer i loved her lead on Extra Extra from thier debut and that's what's awesome about this group they all cna lead a song but have tight harmonies

    K.... !....

"WHEN I LOOKED AT HIM" is incredible and shes lead in that one as well ;)

    K.... !....

+Mary Fabela No, that was Jeanette, actually.

    K.... !....

Ann sang lead on 8 Exposé songs: "Extra, Extra" and "Love Is Our Destiny" from _Exposure_ ; "Stop, Listen, Look, and Think" and "Now That I Found You" from _What You Don't Know_ ; and "As Long As I Can Dream," "In Walked Love," "I Think I'm in Trouble," and "Angel" from _Exposé_ .

  74. A.... k....

I had never heard this song before but Ann is such a great singer on lead she should have sung more lead. They are such a great group

  75. J.... K....

Great song! Even though Jeanette is my favorite, Ann really hit a home run with this vocal! All the girls were beautiful and sang so well.

    J.... K....

I agree. Ann and Gioia although Gioia is not in this video because of voice problem all sing well but Jeanette has a special voice.

  76. O.... S....

WOW MY DREAMS ARE MY ESCAPE TO MY MUNDANE DAILY EXISTENCE.

  77. a.... ....

the young lady in the video is pretty.

  78. C.... ....

this song should have been a bigger hit

  79. R.... M....

The last hit from the immortal Roy Orbison, who co-wrote with another legend, Diane Warren.  Ann Curless didn't get many lead vocals on their singles, but she nails it on both this one and "In Walked Love".  A great change of pace for them, but the end appeared to be in sight. Hit 21 at Adult Contemporary.

  80. S.... C....

Great song with an even better message.

  81. t.... l....

These ladies are so talented and beautiful!

  82. j.... ....

nice replacement for Goia too. Kelly Moneymaker sounds and looks awesome too.

  83. j.... ....

boteenracing I do agree with you and others they didn't let Anne sing lead enough.

  84. n.... c....

brasil linda musica parece a spice girl cantando

  85. G.... C....

I love Expose...but the one who leads this song has always been my favorite. So beautiful. Natural beauty.

  86. W.... V....

i always wonder why isnt this on the greatest hits.

  87. a.... r....

i first heard this song on Voice of Ameria -Europe! specal thanks to some of the staff of VOA-E of that time Geoff Roberts, Bernie Lukes!

  88. c.... ....

Sherri Saum brought me here too :)

  89. A.... M....

Omg Sherri Saum at 3:17 :) I love her so much

  90. l.... ....

simply the best.a song that stays in your heart forever

  91. c.... ....

The BEST female group vocalists EVER! Nuff said!

  92. s.... ....

This song is beautiful and I love the video.

  93. s.... ....

Apparently Al Pitrelli plays guitar on this. Shows that metal guys can branch out and do some really beautiful ballads.

    s.... ....

Musically there's nothing Al Pitrelli can't do! \m/

  94. G.... S....

My favorite music video ever . Is there anywhere to buy a DVD with this performance ?

  95. i.... ....

When I first heard this song in 1993, this reminds me of the theme of "Flashdance" or "Fame" and I thought it was recorded back in 1983! It turns out this song is recorded in 1993. Since this is a 20-year-old song, it is still considered a classic! Good job on letting Ann Curless doing the lead vocals for this song! Too bad it was not chosen for their Greatest Hits album, but this is also a theme for Valentine's Day!

  96. k.... ....

I don't know what's worse, the goose bumps or the wet shit around my eyes, after all these years, these girls Still, do it to me. just a romantic old fool i guess.

  97. D.... G....

I freaking love this song idk y I'm getting emotional lol

  98. k.... b....

I miss everything about the 80's

  99. J.... ....

Ann Curless singing lead .. a nice change, smoother sound, and an extention of this groups talents.

I have always loved Ann she seemed to be the quiet & sweet one, never the less this song brings her talent & singing ability out in the open.

Annie perfect high note 3:37 shows what she can do.

Stay well & thank you for posting this Gem.

    Peace to ya
