Exodus - Impact Is Imminent Lyrics

You wouldn't take a taxi
You said you couldn't stay
You drink and drink and drive
Almost every day
Your life speeds through your mind
Faster than you drive
Living on a shoestring
All your fucking life
Your friends say you need help
You tell them that you're fine
As you tip the bottle
And swallow some cheap wine
You're a living time bomb
Waiting to explode
You'll just be a statistic
When you're dead and cold!

Every time you drink and drive
You always think that you'll survive
Till your car is crushed and bent
Impact is imminent
Sirens fill the streets aloud
It always draws the biggest crowd
They peel your body off cement
Impact is imminent!

The daily obituaries reveal
More and more fools climbed behind the wheel
Thinking they were sober enough to drive
They didn't know they'd never come back alive
A bad case of double vision
Led straight onto a head-on collision
Passed out and crossed the double line
How can anyone be so asinine?

Blind drunk and hauling ass
He got airborne off an overpass
He never knew he left the ground
Like a warhead target bound
You can't correct your fatal mistake
When you're the guest of honor at your own wake
Thought he could fly till he hit cement
Impact is imminent!

Drunken time bombs set to detonate
When happy hour's over they're off to celebrate
Their vision's but a blur, they barely see the road
Been drinking for so long they're starting to erode
A fucking drunken lush climbs into his car
Kills you in an instant coming from the bar
An alcoholic bum hits you from behind
A child and his mother run down in their prime!

  15. L.... A....

Listen at a speed of 1.25. This is the best song of all time.

  16. m.... ....

I always thought that Souza sounded like a really pissed off Bon Scott.

    m.... ....

  17. T.... T....

    DEATH TO POSERS....AND DRUNK DRIVERS!!!!

  18. T.... Z....

    Guitar solo is awesome

  19. A.... M....

I remember when this album was being advertised in the UK metal mags back in 1990 and the tag line was " Fourth Album and still no ballad!" AWESOME!

  20. m.... ....

    the magic of rick hunolt

  23. m.... ....

Under appreciated album, I saw them on this tour, awesome gig!

  24. T.... ....

They honestly should have jus re recorded the drums but at the same time thatd make no sensw cause u always record drums first, but if those drums sounded better this would be amazing production, nd i literallt hear no bass guitar at all

    T.... ....

That's actually not a hard and fast rule. I see most commonly the guitar, bass, drums, then vocals tracked, in that order

  25. c.... ....

Damn,as a lifelong exodus fan this album is something else.Guitar tone is fuck'in raw and heavy as fuck, great lead guitar playing and kick ass bass and drums. Not Tom Hunting but still good.Zetro is also killer on this.

  26. S.... J....

    simple...the legends..thank you exodus

  27. j.... e....

    drunk dribers against madd mothers!!!!!

  28. A.... S....

Thanks for posting this killer track.

  29. n.... n....

    thrash metal, old school \m/

  30. S.... R....

why have anti drunk driving commercials if you have this song

    S.... R....

    That's right.
I'm in high school, and we usually have debates about different topics.
Some of them are almost useless.
If you know someone who drives after drinking, don't try to explain him.
Just tell him "Man, if you drink and drive, sooner or later you're going to fucking die".
    He'll probably understand

  31. H.... E....

    this song is great!

  32. S.... I....

    Exodus yeah!

  33. M.... M....

ok leave anthrax only lol. but exodus is badass

    M.... M....

Anthrax persistence of time-1990 destroys this album lol

  34. S.... R....

impact is imminent fucking bad ass song

  35. S.... N....

off top - Exodus - polish band about 1983-84.... "Supernova" - LP... but they'ra wan't heavy metal - rather sympho... no again some style

    S.... N....

Slavko Neveliuk they were thrash dude... Hard to find a lot of better examples besides Anthrax, Nuclear Assault, Testament, or Suicidal Tendencies. They all hit the nail on the head including Exodus.

  36. R.... H....

I always wondered why they gave this album the 'And Justice For All' treatment and completely buried the bass guitar. Even though he's not a member of Exodus, I blame Lars Ulrich

    R.... H....

Jeremy H. the bass is so important to both albums

    R.... H....

You can hear the low bass in this album. if you can't, maybe check your ear xD

    R.... H....

@gilang n Even so, Rob McKillop was so disappointed with the mix that he left the band.

    R.... H....

    Lars sucks

    R.... H....

This album is one of exodus's worst anyway tho and AJFA on the other hand is a masterpiece

  37. R.... ....

    Great song

  38. P.... ....

The most Metal PSA ever recorded.

    P.... ....

Its a dam fucking sonic wall that fall smashing your head

  39. A.... T....

Death MEtal and grind blew up the year this album came out. IMO bands like Deicide and Napalm had a lot to do with why Impact, and new thrash in general, got so little play then. Exceptional album!

    A.... T....

    I completely agree.

  40. C.... V....

    Great album!

  41. c.... ....

Great album.I remember seeing them with Suicidal Tendencies and Pantera.Pantera opened for Exodus! I've always been a big Exodus fan-great songs and live shows.

  42. p.... ....

exodus' GREATEST LESSON IN VIOLENCE. seriously this is their best album and one of my top favorite thrash albums

    p.... ....

Pretty damn shit taste you have lol, this is one of their absolute worst albums and was a disastrous followup to fabulous disaster. Their top 3 albums are bonded, fabulous and tempo of the dammed

  43. T.... ....

    greatest album cover ever

  44. t.... ....

    imo their best album!

    t.... ....

Lmfao what an absolute horrbile taste you have, this is arguably their worst album and it was a disastrous followup to fabulous disaster

    t.... ....

derekobs I agree with him, it might not be their best album but I’d take this over the most recent stuff they’ve done in the last 15 years, every day of the week

  45. A.... T....

    awesome album!

  46. J.... F....

Sorry for the negative votes for voicing your opinion.

It's true-this song kills but the album as a whole really suffers a lack of direction.

  47. D.... x....

Did u hear? Metallica sold out in 45 seconds!!

    Really? Wheres the show at???

    .....what show?

    D.... x....

On tour and still selling out arenas

  48. M.... J....

agree! the other song "lunatic parade" and "only death decides" the fucking riffs are thick, crunchy, and vicious! gary always had the best guitat tone in thrash metal period!

  49. M.... J....

worse production but have remember...it was 1990! AND TO BE HONEST THE GUITAR TONES ARE FUCKING THICK AND VICIOUS! if you really hear it throughout.

    M.... J....

    Mark Jaramillo
    very true

  50. M.... J....

shit...force of habit might be there worst. and its a good album!

  51. M.... J....

i agree!...even the mighty gary holt said that if he could have any album back it would have been this one impact. he said himself that he wrote some of the best riffs of his life on the record and i fucking agree!

    M.... J....

Mark Jaramillo this and Fabulous Disaster were peak Exodus

  52. D.... x....

Steve souza! Come back! Comeback to thrash from that death metal shit!

  53. M.... C....

    Thrash or be thrashed

  54. J.... B....

Exodus have never been sellouts, they started it and still play Thrash to this day.

  55. .... ....

You should really seek medical treatment for your drug addiction

  56. K.... ....

i don`t like it at all, at least there`s a couple good songs in force of habit, pleasure of the flesh and fabulous disaster are their best

  57. K.... ....

    Exodus worst album

  58. I.... S....

It'd kinda funny, that people say that after Black album, Metallica sold out and their albums went to shit, but let's be honest, if you look and listen to those albums as they weren't released by metallica, then they pretty fkin good. You just got to get that mentality out of your mind and just enjoy the music, by whomever it's made.

    I.... S....

How does this relate to Exodus?

  59. T.... ....

I can memorized every single words in this song.Thats how much i love Impact Is Imminent and EXODUS.EXODUS is without a doubt the uncrown King of Thrash Metal.EXODUS 4 LIFE...;-)

  60. t.... ....

in my book steve souza was the best singer exodus had

  61. L.... G....

no sir, you are wrong in that statement.
It is just too hardcore for your ears, you can not appreciate the brutality of the tight guitar riffage and drumming.
it is one of the deepest, tightest, distorted, thrash sound ever created, whilst still incorporating the ability to define each instrument, and make it sound thick heavy, but not sludgy
it is like taking the album justice for all, adding thicker guitar, MORE BASS, and having the notes more tightly played.
    best sound in thrash history.

  62. m.... ....

Love this song. I send it out to NY Giants David Diehl!

  63. b.... ....

    hee haw pee paw

  64. A.... W....

Pantera ripped off Exhorder even more.

  65. a.... ....

The production on this album was absolute shit.

  66. B.... L....

    you tell em!!!

  67. m.... ....

    @stenback31289 hell yeah!

  68. J.... S....

@punk4561 makes my dick tingle every time

  69. j.... ....

amazing. this should be the new song for the mothers against drunk driving thing they have at high schools. totally true song. steve souza is awesome :)

  70. T.... ....

EXODUS is the uncrown king of thrash in my book...

  71. B.... ....

    @AGNTthrasher Ahhh. Ok, thank you.

  72. A.... T....

    @morbidgod Just the packaging.

  73. t.... ....

@the4noobz It was a stroke that put him in a coma, which he never came out of. RIP Paul

  74. m.... ....

everytime you drink and drive you always think that you'll survive!!....

  75. B.... ....

Does anyone know what the difference is between the origional and the reissued version? Does it have extra tracks on it or something?

  76. C.... A....

This album is one of my favorites: very underrated! Aggressive tones on the guitars and drums and the solos just rip your face off. The riffs twist and turn - I can listen to it over and over.

  77. T.... ....

    @Demonman26 How did he die???

  78. B.... L....

    @audiodead

    DO!THE TOXIC WALTZ!

  79. w.... ....

    Who the fuck is Shitallica!!!???!!???

  80. D.... G....

    @Demonman26 And still going stong

  81. J.... M....

@guitarguts666 I didn't say Paul was on the album. I liked Paul better because he had the energy. He was the essential thrasher. He was the epitome of thrash metal.

  82. G.... ....

    @Demonman26
Paul didn't sing on this album, it was Steve Souza. I liked Steve way better than Paul. Paul was so trashed the last time I saw him he stood onstage for 20mins passed out against the drum riser while Gary and Rick were playing riffs to songs they weren't playing until he woke up. And he could even cover the material. Exodus was very underrated. But they brought it live everytime I saw them with Steve. Gary is a bad ass on guitar.

  83. S.... ....

@Demonman26 Paul Baloff is a legend, but I prefer Steve's voice.

  84. J.... C....

    sounds like ballof D:

  85. M.... G....

It's funny that this song is about drunk driving when Exodus were some party animals who probably drank and drove alll the time. Maybe it's about themselves!!!!! But awesome song

  86. s.... ....

it's funny because back in the day, bands like exodus would get lambasted by parents as just a bunch of dumb asses singing about violence, when the truth is, they sing about real issues like drink driving and corrpution.

  87. J.... M....

@chiaromontestephen That's true. I don't know why I said that actually. I guess I was listening to them at the time. They really only had one good album lol. Tortured Existance. Epidemic of Violence was thrashy, but it still sucked compared to their first sound.

  88. J.... F....

@thedamned38 Agreed those 10 microseconds really ruined the album. :)

  89. J.... A....

Fucking miss this album.. Thrash to classics..

  90. J.... M....

@blindiris22 Overkill would have been nice. I think it should have been Slayer, Demolition Hammer, Kreator, and Metallica (Early years).

  91. K.... ....

@blindiris22 As we talk about Old School Thrash, I'd agree

  92. B.... A....

@Demonman26 the real big four should be exodus, overkill, megadeth, and anthrax

  93. B.... R....

I loved and still do love exodus with Baloff or Souza on vocals. That damn rob dukes guy sucks cock, BRING BACK SOUZA!!!! IMPACT IS IMMINENT!

  94. s.... ....

Warning: objects in mirror are closer then they appear.

  95. B.... H....

    Fucking awesome lyrycs !!!

  96. J.... M....

@peeewt IMO Exodus should have been one of the big four just because of Bonded By Blood.

  97. p.... ....

    @Demonman26 nobody?????

  98. s.... ....

This PSA brought to you by Exodus.
