Exodus - Architect Of Pain Lyrics

Let me paint you a portrait of a man
whose very name would define in times to come all things profane
Born unto privilege child of aristocracy,
so tender the young mind, yet so unclean
His was a heart of darkness that beat within his chest
Bringing life into the crimes he'd manifest
Imp of the perverse on a bloody path he trots
Scribe of the unthinkable the Marquis De Sade

Outraging the laws of both nature and religion
subjugation in behalf or her domain
Or so he believed with all his hate and narcissism
That to fight the inclinations but in vain

Nature inspires our tastes bizarre
She paints them only as they are
From the darkest corners of the mind as real
as the morning sun shall rise, just the same

He wove his written word with threads of flesh throughout
He promised things so frightening they'll turn you inside out
When terror's grip has set your soul is set aflame
Behold the architect of pain
Unearthing fantasies too savage to reveal
Twisting your world with visions centuries concealed
Was he philosopher or was he just insane?
Behold the architect of pain

Each tale black as pitch dressed in the colors of hell
Your dreams will fill with the sounding of the knell
Feel the looming shadow of the hungry guillotine
And you'll be blinded by the blade's fatal gleam

Outraging the laws of both nature and religion
Subjugation in behalf or her domain
Or so he believed with all his hate and narcissism
That to fight the inclinations but in vain

Nature inspires our tastes bizarre
She paints them only as they are
From the darkest corners of the mind as real
as the morning sun shall rise, just the same

He wove his written word with threads of flesh throughout
He promised things so frightening they'll turn you inside out
When terror's grip has set your soul is set aflame
Behold the architect of pain
Unearthing fantasies too savage to reveal
Twisting your world with visions centuries concealed
Was he philosopher or was he just insane?
Behold the architect of pain

Nature cannot bind you, you only need to serve unto her
Harming without stint or cease at the expense of whosoever may be
Their pain becomes your paradise, your lust their demise

Forced you to recognize
The beast within, he helped you to visualize
No desire to torment flesh and bone
The mind can cause far greater destruction alone
When the seed has taken root
It grows impure, your thoughts pollute

All things please nature,
she has need of our misdeeds
We serve her as we sin
The bloodier our opus
The greater her domain and her esteem for us

Nature inspires our tastes bizarre
She paints them only as they are
From the darkest corners of the mind as real
as the morning sun shall rise just the same
rise just the same
rise just the same
rise just the same
rise just the same

Exodus Architect Of Pain Comments

Exo would be a great doom metal band as well!!!

  2. E.... V....

I can stop listening this piece.

  3. W.... B....

    400 :)

  4. T.... K....

    Increible !!!

  5. u.... t....

What is meaning of this song ? What do you think?

  6. M.... M....

The worst exodus album by far. Horrible. Where the hell do people see melodic thrash elements in this piece of crap I have no idea. The nineties was a very dark period for all the eighties thrash bands that had signed to big labels and were forced to release crap like this album.

    M.... M....

Taste is a subjective matter. I really enjoy this album a lot and find, especially this song is one of their best works. But if you are a fan of the thrashing sound, then of course this song will be hell awful for you.

  7. L.... F....

    Masterpiece

  8. u.... k....

I crashed my dads car listening to this... now its great with a memory

  9. S.... G....

H team in the house !!!!!

  10. D.... L....

First track that got me to exodus. Still one of the best riffage from the band ever. That song is a jewel.

  11. M.... ....

Even when Exodus write something that isn't thrash, the riffs are still world class, and the attitude on point!
+ arguably one of Exodus' and Gary's greatest solos. BEHOLD! The Architect of Paaaaain!

  12. e.... ....

Beautifully composed....one of their best track...👌👌

  25. g.... m....

I love this whole album. I don't know why a lot people thought this album sucked. I enjoyed this album including this song architect of pain. Saw exodus live with slayer as well and they fucking brought it.

    g.... m....

I think the whole album is quite jazzy. In my opinion, this song is the only truly thrash song in the album, and I like it a lot

  26. R.... S....

underrated track and album, simply fantastic. I just don't get why he sings so low in the chorus.

  27. J.... G....

i can understand why exodus dosent like plays this amazings tracks for this amazing album on live¡¡¡ they says thats was shit (sorry by my enghlis im a spanish guy)

  28. s.... b....

Great solo by gary as usual ....nice mixture of his technical and psychotic skills.

  29. J.... S....

    Behold! The Architect of Pain!

  30. J.... G....

deep shit but real. behold her pain. she will bring pestilence

  31. S.... K....

The only Exodus song I really enjoy. Wish the rest of their stuff came half as close as this.

    S.... K....

    Steve Kremsner you damn Skippy

    S.... K....

Ha exodus smashes any other thrash band out there they have a hardest sound and gray holt and Tom hunting are underrated thrash masters I don't even like the big 4 besides megadeth old who u like but exodus is my favorite

    S.... K....

come on bro listen to lessons in violence that album is great

  32. b.... ....

One of the best trash songs ever.

    b.... ....

    not even thrash

  33. C.... B....

    killer track

  34. L.... S....

    The best Exodus intro.

  35. p.... p....

    marques de sade

  36. T.... S....

    was a sick man!

    T.... S....

I grew up in the 80s .overkill testament armored saint megadeth Celtic frost.this is not grove metal and what the he'll is grove metal ? This great guitar work period i

  37. J.... W....

Groove metal is a sub genre of thrash metal. Pantera is on top of groove metal but they have a lot of thrash in their music

  38. J.... W....

Yeah I know. A lot of thrash bands that put out different styles take shit even though the music was excellent.

  39. A.... K....

I found Force of Habit to be more enjoyable than Bonded by Blood, and I usually dislike Groove Metal.

  40. T.... ....

Don't forget Feeding Time at the Zoo - doesn't get much heavier than that one.

  41. b.... ....

This song is not for idiots. This song is for Rock lovers.

  42. J.... ....

This album is Epic. Is a different album, but that's why it's so great!

  43. J.... F....

    Those solos are beyond sick.

People keep telling me this is the ''Black Sheep'' of Exodus' albums and I finally find this masterpiece...

    J.... F....

That would any of the albums with Rob Dukes. Those are much worse than this album.
