Everly Brothers, The - Trains And Boats And Planes Lyrics

Trains and boats and planes
Are passing by
They mean a trip
To Paris or Rome
For someone else
But not for me
The trains and the boats and planes
Took you away
Away from me

We were so in love
And high above
We had a star
To wish upon, wish
And dreams came true
But not for me
The trains and the boats and planes
Took you away
Away from me

Trains and boats and planes
Took you away
But every time
I see them I pray
And if my prayer
Can cross the sea
The trains and boats and planes
Will bring you back
Back home to me...
Mmm
Mmm
Trains and boats and planes

Heel mooie song, maar met mijn cloustrofobie zal ik er niet ver mee komen.
Geen probleem, ik heb de muziek...

  2. b.... ....

Great version but crazy how they left out the amazing _"You are from another part of the world"_ section.

  3. h.... ....

    15 people are tone deaf.

    Brilliant harmonies

    Wake UP!!! Little Susie!!!

This had me confused because it sounds like Phil singing the song but it doesn't sound like him harmonizing. Then I read somewhere that Phil actually does sing the main part and that Don does the higher harmonizing on this particular song. I never thought they ever did that but I know on this one it sure sounds like Phil!! I wonder if they did any others like this one? I loved it though!!

  10. J.... M....

I am so happy I grew up listening to these amazing brothers sing. How well they harmonized!

  11. S.... W....

I still like Anita Harris singing this.

    WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 74yo Aussie fan.
Had the good fortune to see them live in Melbourne,Australia in the late 50's to early 60's at a venue called Festival Hall & they were incredible.
No duo will ever come close to their magic.

  13. c.... ....

Yes, great voices even though the song isn't so interesting. Must have been a hit before my time.

First time l heart that song from the Everly brothers its beautiful

  18. u.... ....

Y'know, there might be a good argument for defining great singer/musicians as having the talent to put beauty where it wasn't. The Everly Brothers took one of Bert Bacharach's more mediocre songs and did this with it. It's beautiful and very simple. I'm revisiting their music after many years and just found their sexy and flawless version of "Lay, Lady, Lay," a song I never thought much of til now.

    u.... ....

Agreed that they wrote many great songs. I think this is one of them! The many artists that cover a song indicates the quality that they perceive. I agree that many bad songs (to me) have become hits, but rarely are they covered. Bacharach and David also wrote some songs I dislike that were hits. The most prominent being "Do you know the way to San Jose'"!As a San Josean I have always cringed at that song. Extremely trite lyrics and insufferable melody. When it was a hit I saw the jazz organist Jimmy Smith on the San Jose State campus insert that song into every tune he did! Painful.

    u.... ....

@Will Law   I might disagree with you on "Trains and Boats etc." but probably the worst song Bacharach and David wrote was "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?"  I once saw an interview around 1990 where Dionne Warwick(e) (remember when Linda Goodman advised her to put that silly "e" at the end of her name to bring her career back?) and she was asked if there were any of her hits she didn't care for.  She said "Oh, there was that one about going to San Jose, I didn't like that one."  My favorite interpreter of Bacharach was Dusty Springfield.

    u.... ....

I'll always take Dionne. An authentic soulful voice.

    u.... ....

Supposedly, Dylan wrote that with the Everlys in mind.

  25. P.... S....

Without a doubt .the best version of this classic song

    P.... S....

Nope. The Box Tops version is the best. I like the Everly Bros. tho

    P.... S....

@Daniel Benitez would not put Billy J Kramer's version very far down on the list...Number 1 for me.

  26. D.... H....

It fits the Everlys vocals to a tee.Pity it was just an album track could have been a hit for them.

  27. k.... ....

These boys could sing the weather forecast and I'd have to listen. RIP, Phil.
