Everly Brothers, The - Torture Lyrics

Torture, Torture
Baby, you're torturing me
Why do you lead me around and make me chase ya
When I catch ya, you won't let me embrace ya
Please baby, have a heart 'cause can't you see
You're torturing me, torturing me

This torture that I'm going through
Is worth the pain if I have you
So if you love me, let me know
But if you don't, please let me go

Torture, Torture
Baby, you're torturing me
You know that I'm crazy about you
Yet you make me do without you
Do you mean to hurt, or don't you see
You're torturing me, torturing me

It is a very, very great song! Disregard my typos, lack of punctuation, you're a very smart man, Milton; I'm sure you can understand what I'm trying to say.LOL You are after all, MMMM!

I daresay this song is on the top
    ten list of most
Everly Brothers fans. I was in
    the U.S Navy when
    this was released,
    and I recall a new
    recruit telling me
    that a DJ working
    at a radio station
in Waco, Texas was playing this
    song several times an hour.
    Those were wonderful days
    for being in the
    record business.
    A DJ could get a
    record started in
    a small town and
    it could spread to
    other regions and
perhaps ultimately all over the country. This eventually ended
when the recording executives colluded with others "on the take"
    and they got their
claws into everybody and told them what to
play. (This recording fades out too quickly at
    its conclusion.
    This occurs far too
    frequently in you
    tube videos. Some
    songs are just outright abruptly
    clipped at the end.
    For me, it's TORTURE!

    M.... M....

I can tell you are tortured in more ways than one! LOL

  12. l.... ....

Beautiful tone, and definition of the guitars etc !

  13. C.... L....

  16. l.... e....

Just fantastic ! Thanks for posting. Love their "Ebony Eyes" by Loudermilk too. "Ebony Eyes" was a big hit for them.

  17. D.... L....

I'm not a musician, but I love to hear them talk about music.

  18. J.... e....

great song they always kept up with the uptempo beats and guitar riffs love these guys

  19. G.... G....

The most beautiful version of this John D. Loudermilk song is the one Petula Clark recorded in French in 1962. Coeur Blessé was a big hit for her in French speaking countries.

    G.... G....

I probably love Pet just as much as you do (well, 17 albums worth), but Don and Phil OWN this song. Petula's is a close second and the "hit" version in the USA by Kris Jensen doesn't rate at all.

  20. L.... S....

Everly's also did Ebony Eyes by Loudermilk

    L.... S....

Although written 4 the Everlys, Kris Jensen had a hit with it first in 1961. The Everlys released it on the "Gone, Gone, Gone" album. We miss you, Phil. RIP.

  21. J.... R....

My favorite song when I was growing up and the Everly Brothers were awesome!  The best duo ever.  RIP Phil

    B.... L....

You said it! No one else even comes close. Their harmonies have been sending chills up my spine for 60 years.

  25. T.... B....

    RIP Phil...
