Everly Brothers, The - Hard Hard Year Lyrics

Bad times, something's wrong
Money's gone, on my own
Can't stay, there's nothing here
Been a hard, hard year

First month, snows came
Put me in bed, couldn't work the same
Job's gone, bills are here
Been a hard, hard year

If I look on the bad side of life
I'll lose heart and then I'll want to die
So I've got to get back on my feet
And prove to myself I'm a man

I hope that the bad times have gone
It's been rough but I think that I've won
Now I'm happy
And I'll never be that way again
No, I'll never be that way again

Snow's gone, spring's here
Won't happen twice, I've seen my way clear
Everyone's paid, got no one to fear
Been a hard, hard year
Been a hard, hard year

No more Johnny Rivers, Ron ???

Nice song from a good album. The arrangement owes much to the Beatles' "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away".

In the UK this was released in 1966 as the B-side of 'I've Been Wrong Before' and I bought it when it was released. At that time, of course, all singles were in mono, so it's great to hear this track in stereo for the first time. This was a far better track that the one chosen for the A-side. The single may have charted if Warner Bros had released this track as the A-side.

According to Tony Hicks, Jimmy Page plays the solo in this - and he asked him (Tony) for advice on getting the sound!

@mauidreamer2801- you are very welcome Mary! I guess a "fuzz guitar" was used on this song - that's the different background music that you hear! Ron

Thank you for this video Ron. This is an interesting song with very "different' back up music. It almost reminds me of a carousel. But as always, Don & Phil sound beautiful. Thank you for sharing Mary.
