Everly Brothers, The - Bowling Green Lyrics

Way down in Bowling Green
Prettiest girls I've ever seen
A man in Kentucky
Sure is lucky
To love down in Bowling Green

Bowling Green folks treat you kind
They let you think your own mind
A man in Kentucky
Sure is lucky
In Bowling Green you walk your own line

Kentucky sunshine makes the heart unfold
It warms the body
And I know it touches the soul
Bluegrass is fine
Kentucky owns my mind

The fields down in Bowling Green
Have the softest grass I've ever seen
A man in Kentucky
Sure is lucky
To lie down in Bowling Green

Bowling Green girls treat you right
They wear dresses cut country tight
A man in Kentucky
Sure is lucky
If he's seen a Bowling Green night

Kentucky sunshine makes the heart unfold
It warms the body
And I know it touches the soul
Bluegrass is fine
Kentucky owns my mind

Bowling Green, Bowling Green
Bowling Green, Bowling Green

Bowling Green, Bowling Green
Bowling Green, Bowling Green

Growing up in Kentucky I would always as a kid go through my dads old 45s. Upon finding this one it was magic. I thought it was so cool that this was a song about somewhere I knew. My nephew is a sophomore at WKU in Bowling Green. He is a film student and is making short films. I want him to put this song in one of them.

    A man in Kentucky
Sure is lucky" Oh yeah I have never been there I am in Sydney Australia but as you said close your eyes, God Bless these treasures of American Music

Was in the far east when this was popular; a bunch of new stuff there, but kinda pulled back to the US culture when this lovely tune hit the radio.
Sorry for all the folks who died in that mess, but this helped a lot of us smile about that gal 'dressed country tight'.

A great song that takes me back to 1967-68.

Never been to Bowling Green, but I would like to visit there. My ancestors were from there back in the early days of the Cumberland Gap settlements. Pictures of the place sure look nice.

Hope you visit soon! Don't miss the Kentucky Museum on the campus of WKU. You'll always find good folks in BG.

Terrific song;  better than the mere #40 top chart position it attained in 1967.     Ironic that the last  Everly Brothers song to chart is my favorite.

this song reminds me of the movie Asphalt Jungle Sterling Hayden is shot doing a robbery the MD says you need an operation to take the bullet out he walks out the doctor says he dosent have enough blood left in him to keep a chicken alive he makes it to Kentucky and drops dead

    Punctuate this
    comment so I
    can read it without
    having to rack my
brain. What you have here is one of the longest
    "run on sentences" on YouTube!
    Peace.😊
