Everclear - The New York Times Lyrics
Oh,
It makes no sense to me
Yeah, I was living in a different world when I heard the news
I keep having the same bad dream
And it makes me want to hurt all the people who have done this thing to you
When I see your face, I can see you smile
Read all about you in the New York times
When I see your eyes, I can see your light
When I think about what happened
It makes me crazy
It makes no sense to me,
This eye for an eye thing,
It has gone too far
I don't know anyone who doesn't hurt inside
And maybe some day we can make things right
I want to believe in this world
I want to believe in this life
I want to believe in a world that does not seem real
When you read between the lines
When I see your face, I can see you smile
Read all about you in my New York times
When I see your eyes, I can see your light
When I read about the world
It makes me crazy
I want to believe in this world
I want to believe in this life
I want to believe in a world that does not seem real
When you read between the lines
Gotta read between the lines
Whoa, gotta read between the lines
I really want to believe I can make things right
I want to believe I can learn to feel alright inside
I want to believe I can learn to make things right
Oh, I want to believe in this world
I want to believe in this life
I want to believe in a world that does not seem real
When I read the New York Times
I see your face, I see your smile
Read all about you in the New York Times
I can see your eyes, I can see your light
When I think about what happened
It just makes me crazy
When I close my eyes
You seem so alive
I really think about you
I want to believe we can make things right
I want to believe
I want to believe
I want to believe
I want to believe
Oh, I want to believe in this world
I want to believe in this life
I want to believe in a world that does not seem real
When I read the New York Times

Everclear The New York Times Comments
I remember when this album came out. I was pretty excited since it's my hometown skyline (which 13 odd years later doesn't really look that way anymore - a lot more buildings now) . I thought I remembered this song was about 9/11. But it's been a long time...so it could be a fuzzy memory.
. From what I've heard the record label wanted to release and promote this song as the first single from this album but Art insisted on ''Volvo Driving Soccer Mom. If true I gotta say Art was dead wrong on this call. This song should have been huge, it's so much the better of the two songs, instead it was mostly ignored. Too bad.
68Charger Yeah it's too bad the whole album was largely ignored. But I think Everclear's heyday was pretty much over at this point.
Agreeing that Everclear is underrated. Art was a great lyricist. I always liked this song, really makes me feel better. I, too, want to believe that the world doesn't suck, but it's so hard sometimes...
the rest of the old band the lead singer is big douche bag meet him at a thing in hard rock and he didn't like that i could singer better than him during a set of santa monica and he told me so what kind of lead singer doesn't want you to sing his or her song only a douche bag he's a big douche bag in person meet him several times. That's why nobody last with him and he's always changing the lineup since craig and the other one left they were cool.
Dear Everclear,
I still love you. I have not forgotten you. I'm off to listen to Under The Western Stars.
I saw the lead perform live at the preliminary DoSomething awards last year...he was very good.
@hayesredsox
Yeah they sure were, especially Art Alexakis.
not bad considering what they came from. they were collectively screwed up up as individuals
@michaelpisciuneri Truth.
wow everclear is an extremely underatted band
I love his song from the very first time I heard it. Mostly because it's just a jammin song. I think it has it all as far as music and a song goes. I dig it!!
