My names Annabella, my Dad died when I was 15. I missed out on alot of time with him after being taken by child services. He was so tortured and just wanted to be loved. He'd failed at suicide before. I miss him so much because Im nothing like my mom. I thought he'd give me the assurances I needed as a peculiar little girl. He was a hardcore alt rock fan so everclear was one of his fave bands among many that now riddle my playlists. This song is beyond comforting. I basically am alone now. Whenever my lack of parents or a normal childhood get me down, I listen to this. The repetition of "You are never alone" makes me feel like maybe Im not so alone and where ever he is, he loves me even if he didnt tell me. Even if he never did, this song gives me hope. Its given me more direct love then my entire blood related family.

When my Dad worked in Bosnia (on army camps) he used to send me CDs, that's how I found Everclear, sometimes it was the real CD, others it wasn't, don't know how he got them but I got one with songs from an american movie cover as shown above... It had the upbeat version of this on it... :/

this cd came out shortly after my father passed away, and still to this day, every time i listen to it i tear up bc even though he's not here with me, i know he's watching over me and i will never be alone

when i bought this album,i only listened to the hit songs but over time i realized how amazing the whole album is.

MY NAME IS ANNABELLA!! I just found this song, and it's amazing! WOOW!

My father wasn't around for most of my life. I've always related to "Father of Mine." When I heard this song years ago, I thought to myself, "this is all the things I would have wanted to hear from my father." Sadly, after seeing him for the first time in 22 years during the summer of 2009 he passed away in January of 2010. Every father should make sure he tells his baby girl or boy that he loves them in this way, at least once in their lives, because you never know when it will be to late.

There was an artist special on Art Alexakis years ago on MTV. In it, he played a mostly piano driven version of this song with none of the fluff in this version. It was strikingly beautiful. If only i could find that session....

It's sweet that he made a song for his daughter :3 and I'm not particularly a softy in any way...
