I have loved Eva's voice since I first heard her on Radio New Zealand about 2001. Her voice is so sincere, clear and beautiful. Her covers are way better than the originals e.g. Fields of Gold, Song bird, Over the Rainbow, Autumn Leaves. She makes the song her own in beautiful way. And, boy can she sing Gospel and Jazz. Sad the world lost her so soon. I will never tire of listening to Eva.

Such a treasure, and with us far too briefly. An angelic voice and a musical talent that was astoundingly extraordinary! To those who may have just discovered, Eva, please take the time to check out her haunting offering of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. This classic song from the 1939 movie "The Wizard of Oz" was popularized by the immortal Judy Garland, however, Ms Garland's version though clearly more famous, and beautiful on its own, pales by comparison when one listens to Eva Cassidy's rendering of this wonderful song. Because her music so moves me I was interested in seeing what some of the 'voice critiques' said about Eva's amazing voice, just so I could mock them in my little brain when they pointed out tiny problems on some note in some song she performed in places with poor acoustics, etc. But she receives the highest of praises from these critiques (and why not?)(I'm sure you can find one or two somewhere, just like the people who thumbs down Eva here, that are negative, but I didn't read any). Almost all the great voices have a weakness the critiques seem to love to point out. Too nasal here, too throaty there, so it was pleasant to read what I already knew -- she has very few, or no equals. One voice critique ended their complete rave of her strengths and under weaknesses they just asked this question, "Any suggestions?"
