As soin as I listened to this by GLORIA AS ONE OF THE COMMENTERS said to listento Gloria. Well I listened aand she cannot touch Billie Holiday or Diana Ross. but it is nice to know that caucasion women are honoring the Great Singers of yesterday, today and always. Maria.

I played Diana Ross version of this song every day back in the day. I bought 3 albums in case one got scratched. A neighbor of mine asked me to play this song at around at 3 AM for him so he could enjoy it as he got high.
Needless to say I ignored him....all I knew is that he rented the unit on the left side of mine.
The next day I went to work and told my man boss about it. He said the guy mistook me for someone that does drugs. After hearing that Ms Haliday's song was singing about her drug habit that she couldn't shake ...that that was her heartache,
It did make sense when I saw Lady Sings the Blues...and nobody other than Lady D can sing this song other than Lady Day.

A surprising change of  pace for Gloria, and a welcome departure  at that. A lovely tribute to Lady Day, who would have been 100 years old today, April 8th, 2015

I love the accompanying music.  Guitars and picking are more typical of music today and it is nice to hear the lush strings along with the beautiful arrangements and piano which make this classic performance of these wonderful songs.  Hats off to you Gloria Estefan you are a class act.  I purchased the CD and will enjoy many hours of listening.  

I am a huge fan. I just love you voice. What i dont love is the accompanying music. Its okay but i wish there were guitars strumming and picking out the melody. It would give it that spanish flair and soulful sound that a piano just cant capture. Blessings to you Gloria.

A paraphased of Diana Ross..Lady sings the blues album

She just sang this on Craig Ferguson and it was phenomenal!  reminded me of something you would hear at a great old piano bar.  Love it!  Best song she ever sang!

Wow...20+ years later and she's singing the type of songs she should be at her age...like Rod Stewart!  Why is it that singers who were popular in their younger years cannot move on like Gloria and Rod!?

The lyrics are so beautiful and poignant and Mrs. Estefan has such a smokey quality to her voice and the way she hits the notes with such clarity and believability.....
This CD will go straight to the top and at the Award Ceremony this CD and Artist will win in the best "come back" category. It is fabulous.

BlondeMarss yeah. Incredibly Ms Haliday was singing to her crack. It was the crack that gave her heartaches....it knew her best that she couldn't shake it the habit.
