I had a look after I posted this and I couldn't find the comment but I'm like 95% sure the bassist said they weren't likely to play it, I can't remember the reason, but I hope I'm wrong because it's my favourite too.

This album would be 10x better if there was a vocalist that had some range. I love JT, he's got a super powerful scream, especially live, but the lack of range and variety is what made drift and what looks like this album harder to grow on me. The last 3 songs on Neon are the most "Erra" like and I hope they continue forward with that sound. I hope they go back to Brian Hood as Augment had the best mix in any album I've ever heard in my entire life

Bob of Astora I feel the exact opposite, his powerful scream doesn't need any range because it allows the intricate and complex guitar work combined with the busy drum work to stand out and shine

I'm glad you like it! For me, the range, sound, and the way Garrison articulated his vocals in a song were what made me really enjoy Impulse and Augment. I've listened to this album a lot now, and I'm not quite as harsh on it anymore. I keep wanting Erra to go back to their old style and not appreciating what they want to do now. I felt the same way with Northlane, and now I really enjoy their new sound. I guess I'm just repeating that process but with Erra haha

Zach Thomas I know you probably won't read this, but I had a friend that ended his life a couple of years ago and he is still always on my mind. Music like this certainly makes things more comforting and can bring the mind a sense of peace.

The fact he doesn't push hard during that part is so smart. It's like he's speaking to you and he knew the impact that part would have on people.

@Spidey oo Absolutely. The song Bloodwork is my favorite song on that album. I like JT. I just found his vocals tiring while listening to the album front and back

Yea he was great on drift but less range on this album:/ he had great shouted melodies on skyline, continueum, luminece but none on this album. And only a few solos on this album. This album is good but not as solid as past erra. Could have been way better. The mixing gives the vocals and instruments little balance. I'm being very critical but drift seems like a much stronger album. I'll always love erra tho.

deth_blunt JT is amazing. Extremely consistent. Ive seen ERRA live and he sounds EXACTLY like the album. They played the Drift album and it was fantastic, JT is even more consistent then Jesse but again Jesse has to sing with much more range and technicality. Whole band is great, every album great.

@deth_blunt I find this album better than Drift. This is what I like about Erra. Every fan has its own favorite. I like Augment and Neon the most so far.

All albums are equally good in there own way imo. I like that every album has a different feel to it because it makes it more interesting. If ERRA kept making albums like impulse and augment then we wouldn't be able to distinguish the brilliance of them.
