Eric Hutchinson - hands Lyrics

well i don't know how far i'll make it
and i haven't got much of a plan
but i'm not gonna stop till the day i drop
and i'm still gonna use my hands

well i can't really walk like i used to
and my words people don't understand
but i ain't lost my mind and won't get left behind
and i'm still gonna use my hands

i cannot go where i belong
i cannot always follow through
but i know i am strong
and i'll prove it to you

i cannot go where i belong
i cannot always follow through
but i know i am strong
and i'll prove it to you

well i never been much of a soldier
but i fight for what life demands
and i damn still exist though i can't make a fist
i am still gonna use my hands
yes i'm still gonna use my hands

I read the story you wrote about this last night and found it so touching. I've been a huge fan for a long time including being at the Almost Solo in NYC show, but I never realized the tremendous adversity your family has faced for decades. I lost my dad at 14 and my sister to suicide when I was 17. Additionally I've struggled with depression, anxiety, and autoimmune issues for many years, so I can definitely relate to the toll that physical disability, mental illness, and family struggles can take on a person. I greatly admire the resiliency you, and especially your parents, have shown through all of this. I'm so grateful to hear that you are healthy and that your wonderful music continues to bring joy to me and countless others!!! Stay strong Eric and much love to you ❤💛💙

This really spoke to me. I have recently been diagnosed with myotonic dystrophy. I teach guitar and bass and can still perform, but subtle hand weakness is starting to show. Thank you for inspiring me to continue.
