Eric Clapton - Run Back To Your Side Lyrics

'Fore the daylight catch me
I'll be moving on
'Fore the daylight catch me
I'll be moving on
I got nothing to lose, boy
All I had is gone

I should've know better
I should've hung around
I should've know better
I should've hung around
I had my head out of the window
Big beat on the ground

I'm gonna run
Run back to your side
I'm gonna run
Run back to your side
You know that I miss you
Can't be satisfied

Well, I don't wanna be here
When the sun go down
I don't wanna be here
When the sun go down
Another day goin' nowhere
In this lonesome town

I'm gonna run
Run back to your side
I'm gonna run
Run back to your side
Well, you know that I miss you
Can't be satisfied

I'm gonna run
Run back to your side
I'm gonna run
Run back to your side
But you know that I miss you
Can't be satisfied

'Fore the daylight catch me
I'll be moving on
'Fore the daylight catch me

  1. C.... W....

Yea you should have known BETTER. You don't want to be a real man because you are ERIC CLAPTON

  2. r.... a....

For sure, it's tight and straight, but I don't understand what's makes it so exceptional and remarkable?
I agree that he is an excellent guitarist and can play the most that are made for guitar and more too. But tell me - what he is doing here is so fantastic because it is not something that most guitarists can do and does not contain elements that make it exceptional?

  3. D.... J....

@Wullieboy1985 We exist. Not many of us this day and age. I was lucky enough to have had a Mom with great taste in music. She lived through the days of disco and never bought in. I grew up listening to Clapton, Skynyrd, Zeppelin mostly. Some Doobie Brothers, Allman Brothers and the likes. So when I was old enough to start developing my own taste in music, I didn't buy into the popular trendiness of modern society. Between the ages of 12-18 I witnessed so many people hop on and off of so many wagons I started to question if they were even individuals. I'm 25 and still discovering music I like. I can't say that rap is all bad. I like to think there is a difference between rap and hip-hop. KRS-One has a quote describing the difference between then. "Hip is the knowledge-Hop is the movement." Rap is something you do, hip-hop is something you live. I think that is another quote. Now I don't have a large range of taste for hip-hop, but I know the difference between Lil Wayne type of shit. And the intelligent lyricism that exists, GZA being the best in my opinion. MF DOOM is also really unique. He's like the hip hop version of Buckethead, only he wears a roman style mask, and most of his music is comic bookish. Two of my favorites, anyone who thinks all rap sucks never listened to them.
It's almost a waste of a soul tying yourself down to one genre of music. I try not to, just because I like progressive music doesn't mean I like ALL progressive music. Some suits my taste others that might be good, just don't suit my taste. Same can be said for heavy metal. Pantera, Metallica(until the black album) are both great. Two of my favorite bands, but there are probably 100's maybe 1000's of metal bands similar in style and sound that don't catch my ear.
Some bands actually grow on me over time. Modest Mouse for example. The first time I heard float on I thought it was catchy well written, but I couldn't stand the singers lisp. So I dug around for their older albums I really loved his guitar playing, and the bass and drums. The songs were amazing, the lyrics were great, but I had to try and tune out the singing. Over time I noticed that he is actually a pretty damn good singer, very unique. They are a great band, from the Washington area formed in the early 90's. They have over 10 releases all of which are amazing. If you want to expand your library of music Modest Mouse is a band I recommend to people with an array of tastes. Really unique guitar playing. If you play guitar it makes you want to go out and a guitar with a tremolo bridge of high quality so you stay in tune. Some of the best uses of a tremolo outside of the blues.

  9. D.... L....

    Super Eric

  10. r.... ....

    love it

  11. p.... ....

    guitar man number one,amazing

  12. i.... ....

Got a great bass riff as well as Clapton's legendary guitar playing

  13. L.... R....

ya it's blues rock. tends to follow a structure unprogressively. good sounding but if you want different flavors then it won't last forever, naturally

  14. A.... A....

    60% Rocksmith :/

  15. C.... ....

That's because both are a 12 bar blues in A.... and, of couse, both played by Clapton.

  16. m.... m....

he's one of my favorate guitar players

  17. b.... ....

I love just 50% of eric clapton's songs but this is definitly one of them

  18. C.... S....

I have loved EC since I first heard him in the late 60's. I listened to EC when he was playing with Blind Faith, Delaney & Bonne, Cream, Derek & the Domino's, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, etc etc. Most of his stuff is blues which I love. This song sounds like the old EC blues songs. I love it.

  19. M.... ....

    Mastered on Rocksmith ! :3

  20. P.... W....

mega zajob! takie nuty sobie zycze :D

  21. k.... y....

    I like it.

  22. A.... ....

    is kicking my ass

  23. W.... ....

    100% points in ROCKSMITH !

  24. S.... B....

Mind he's strictly rhythm he doesn't want to make it cry or sing.
And an old guitar is all he can afford.
When he gets up under the lights to play his thing.

  25. l.... ....

Yeah, Clapton is great, but you oughta check out Guitar George.
    He knows all the chords!

  26. H.... ....

I just love playing this on Rocksmith, and I'm an amateur according to that game, and I'm surprised that I can score over 15,000 on chord arrangement for this. Overall, in real life, I'm not too good with chords, much less playing at all. But as they always say, practice makes perfect. I do hope to be able to play my guitar without Rocksmith. :D

  27. R.... ....

can't wait to play this in Rocksmith

  28. A.... U....

Omagad Clapton is god ! We love your cock !
I like Clapton's music, dislike Jonas Brothers. But you are also a pathetic band of fanboys :)

  29. g.... ....

you guys need to chill with this Jonas Bros, Green Day....don't you know Clapton's incomparable!...rock n roll hall... 3..that's THREE times, nobody else has done it....seen him in the 70's with the Dominoes....best group he was with?......Cream!

  30. B.... ....

"I was never the same again" - Eric Clapton after meeting Hendrix

  31. J.... ....

Oh yeah yeah ! i not expect less then the person that pratice with Jimmy Hendrix ,Jimmy died and give the crown to Clapton hes awesome ! i like the interview where he say that he feel for cant play with hendrix anymore !!!

  32. L.... A....

CLAPTON IS GOD... E.C. WAS HERE..

  33. B.... M....

Nobody plays this tune like Johnny Sather......

  34. n.... ....

You dont't mean the Animals of the 60's I hope. Because it sounds NOTHING like them! And you call yourself guitar master!

  35. J.... ....

Yeah i agree and they even put the worst musics how not put seven nation army or the hardest button to push DAMN ROCKSMITH !!! i miss sultans of swing that i really like playing in my guitar hero :(

  36. J.... ....

@Somethingwaycooler Yeah i dont agree... it has some master pieces but half of the musics dont make justice and they could put at least 2 songs of the god of guitar Clapton and instead of this they put 2 of the most inexpressive songs of Nirvana and they have way better songs but at least i like half of the list in Guitar hero i only like a few i cant say its a bad list but not really cool...

  37. J.... ....

@c0Ld Yeah but justice was made after Hendrix was dead they granted Eric the tile of the best guitarrist in the world...

  38. t.... ....

    R.I.P. Connor Clapton

  39. T.... ....

STOP ARGUING AND JUST ENJOY THE DAMN SONG! FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. B.... ....

anyone else think this is like Crossroads? same structure lol...listen to both

  41. C.... H....

it's great to hear songs like this again:)

  42. t.... ....

    cool song

  43. A.... K....

The guy should just change his name to Epic Clapton for god sakes!

  44. A.... ....

@fstforward48 its a twelve bar blues. Not just crossroads is like this. You can find thousands of songs..
But it has it's own life..
No if it reminds of anything it reminds me of the song Eyesight to the Blind.. don't think it was intentional on Erics behalf but listen to the riff on those two songs and you will find them similar

  45. f.... ....

@twalkman23 Hey dumbass, if you look at my comment, I said it IS crossroads, just with different lyrics, but without the Cream vibe to it, Bass lines are identical

  46. f.... ....

This song is actually just a reworking of the music of the Cream song "Crossroads". Hell, you can sing the lyrics to Crossroads right along to this song and never miss a beat. Real inventive, Eric!!!!

  47. r.... ....

Seems to be getting younger!! Slow hand is speeding up..and very well!!

  48. m.... ....

@SNAKEEYESSAM its still kinda sad - because its blues.

  49. J.... G....

He chokes on a fat one

  50. m.... g....

If you don't like Eric . Don't waste your time. Thumbs up here. !!!!!

  51. S.... D....

To all of you that think blues is only 3 or 4 chords and it's oh so simple, lets see videos of you playing the blues...... Oh wait, maybe you are not that talented lmfao! Eric Clapton is an ICON when it comes to BLUES and JAZZ listen to some of his other stuff and see if you can play it as well as he does, then come and post your comments!

  52. 7.... ....

@AnthonyYak A lot more than 3 or 4 chords can be used to play the blues.

  53. s.... ....

    God bless ya Sir Eric

  54. s.... ....

@ncw234 2 blind people didnt like the sound :)

  55. D.... E....

great sound ,great voice ,great music !!!!

  56. C.... ....

In Clapton's Clapton (2010), the name of this song is actually Rolling and Tumbling. Just a heads up, don't buy two of the same song!

  57. K.... W....

@twalkman23 blues IS only 3 chords but sometimes simplicity is the best, and we all know eric can play blues incredibly well so why wouldnt he keep playing

  58. A.... Y....

It's a blues tune, only so many ways you can play 3 or 4 chords

  59. c.... ....

sounds likw derrick trucks on slide at the end

  60. T.... ....

    Eric Clapton is awesome.

  61. T.... W....

It is sooooo close to Crossroads, I don't understand why you can't hear it fstforward. I could play Crossroads on the guitar right now along with this song. Granted, It IS Blues, but no excuse. The King has lost his creativity just like McCartney, and Stones. But no matter...they were great, and its still better than most coming out right now. Blues=3 chords.

  62. f.... ....

it doesn't have the Cream vibe, the song IS Crossroads just slightly reworked. Hell, the bass line is virtually note for note. Cheap rip off of a great Cream song, imnsho

  63. J.... W....

    @Passiej90 Can't argue with that

  64. M.... O....

    Are those crows at 2:03????
    Very cool!

  65. v.... g....

i hope either this or jon mayer's crossroads will win the grammy, this is real music right here.

  66. F.... L....

    ke buenaaa

  67. N.... W....

2 deaf people didn't like the picture

  68. B.... ....

"Run Back to Your Side!" EC is making his Strat 'cry and sing.' Wonderful production! THEN I saw EC and Sonny Landreth on YouTube...gotta love those two guys.

  69. B.... ....

@Brendelos Oh, my! Don't do that to EC. Tough billing, you know. (He plays great on "Clapton." Wonderful!)

  70. M.... ....

    The best ever

  71. I.... ....

    CLAPTON IS GO(O)D

  72. M.... B....

He's got his Mojo working on this one!! Awesome song!

  73. Z.... ....

Reminds me of Rolling n tumblin' a bit :) LOVE THIS !!

  74. C.... ....

@Larrymolek1 So if someone's career spanned 40 plus years, that person's taste is incontestable? Logic right? How about have your own point of view, little sheep? And the lesson you gracefully giving me has nothing to do with music itself, robot.

  75. 7.... ....

@bubbles091307 You know how much older this song is than Spongebob.

  76. P.... ....

@lohrt76 This sounds more like Gibson.

  77. C.... ....

Blues guitar licks is the only tasteful thing Clapton got. Really.

  78. S.... B....

More than a touch of JJ Cale about it too - think Cocaine and After Midnight

  79. G.... ....

Well, you know, Clapton is God dudes...

  80. R.... M....

    @richone99 DONT SAY THAT

  81. d.... b....

apparently this is the only clapton penned song on the album, as per wikipedia

  82. E.... ....

    @Passiej90

to the 2005 reunion version, yeah it does sound similar.

  83. M.... B....

Wish the whole CD was a good as this track.

  84. M.... ....

this reminds me a little of rollin and tumblin. I dig it

  85. P.... A....

    hell yes

  86. K.... ....

Amazing...once again. Clapton can do no wrong.

  87. K.... T....

    @HalfBillion I'M 24 AND I FEEL THE SAME WAY....

  88. H.... ....

Is this an original song or a cover? I know he does a lot of covers..

  89. s.... ....

I pre-ordered this album weeks ago and I am counting down the seconds!!!!!! Can't Wait!!!!!!!

  90. p.... ....

Well HalfBillion, that's because most people listen to music on everything else apart from utube duhhh!
