Many high profile pop and rock musicians have tried to cover Standards over the years, I suppose it brings these great songs to ears that otherwise wouldn’t hear them so maybe it’s not a bad thing . Sadly though most of them including Clapton , Sting, Rod Stewart , Robbie Williams to name but a few just don’t have the vocal talent to pull it off and even though they can afford to hire the best jazz musicians to play for them it doesn’t really save them but as long as it sells I’m sure they won’t care

For example, in the past major 3rds were considered "ugly" and "wrong" even though we use them all the time now. Parallel 5ths and suspended chords were also ugly and wrong. The jazz chords we use now would have been considered ugly and wrong. The sound of distorted electric guitar was also a bad thing at one point. By those facts alone, you're 100% incorrect. Music is subjective and changes with culture. Hell, the fact that there are so many different styles of music proves it's subjective. You have no examples like this. You're trying to prove your claim by just repeating the claim. That's a logical fallacy. If you notice this is becoming circular, it's because of you bud. People think about music in different ways and feel it in different ways. Get over it.

Also the fact you bring up standards proves it's subjective. Think about science. Do you think it has anything to do with "standards"? It has to do with objective, demonstrable, testable, logical proof. Standards have nothing to do with it. Things are not true because of standards bud. They're true by the ability to demonstrate the validity of something beyond someone's opinion and standards. Standards apply to things like art because it's subjective.
