Eric Burdon - Ring Of Fire Lyrics

Love is a burnin' thing
It makes a fire ring
Bound by wild desire
I fell in to your ring of fire
I fell in to that burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames got higher
And it burns, burns, burns
That ring of fire
That ring of fire

The taste of love is sweet
When souls like ours meet
I fell for you like a little child
Oh, and flames got wild
I fell into that burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames got higher
And it burns, burns, burns
That ring of fire
That ring of fire

Ah, ah, ah
I fell into that burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames, they got higher
And it burns, burns, burns
That ring of fire
That ring of fire

Well, I fell in to that burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames, they got higher
And it burns, burns, burns
That ring of fire
Well I'm burning
Let me burn in your ring of fire
Well now baby
Let the flames get higher and higher and higher and higher and higher, yeah
Let me burn in your ring of fire
God knows I'm burnin' baby
The fire that burns is the fire that learns
Well, I'm burning right up baby
Burning up with your ring of fire, yeah
Well, I'm burning baby
Said I'm burning baby
And the flames get higher
And the flames get higher
In the burnin' ring of fire

  3. D.... L....

    Love it !

  4. S.... R....

Oh my! I’ve heard this song so many times, but this is the best version ever. Burdon with his magnificent voice interpreted this song so it is truly meaningful and you actually wake up and pay attention!

  6. J.... M....

Well. I do love this version but still prefer Johnny's one.
That would be great to listen to a duo from them 🙂

  7. T.... Y....

Actually written by J.R. "Johnny" Cash and given to June Carter un-credited
so she could make some money. As Cash used it "ring of fire" was a polite
term for vagina. Now you know the real story.

  8. A.... P....

Vans-"Take it back" video brought me here

  9. D.... C....

Damn, I love this version! They have so many hits, but this is my first time hearing this song.

  10. J.... E....

    crying in the club.

  11. b.... ....

This is not the Animals!! It's Eric and the "Whozzats?" Not buying it!

  12. M.... V....

    Great song!....

  13. R.... H....

Why do I find this voice so much heavier than the heaviest Metal singer? Because this voice has SOUL and POWER plus great DYNAMICS !!!
I love the solo. Is it a bass guitar or a bassy electric guitar?

  14. P.... M....

good band he had, in the late 60's

  17. K.... W....

Love is, Twain shall meet, Winds of Change and Everyone of Us four of the best albums of late 60s

  18. K.... W....

JC's is tote Hose dagegen! Eine meiner ersten Scheiben. My God...Power............

  22. E.... ....

    Stan helsing tho lol

  23. s.... h....

Man, we sure produced some music in the 60's and 70's.

  24. F.... R....

    it's the background vocals

  25. A.... P....

This was how I discovered "Ring of Fire." I love this album, bought it when it came out, altho it is overblown... and I was stunned when I finally heard Johnny's version...

  26. F.... A....

    What a genius

  27. W.... R....

The best version , no one can touch Eric burdon and the animals .

  28. A.... T....

what s that? there is no tempo...not pumping up and no dynamics as Johnny performing....just rocker sound...for me not at all

  29. c.... ....

This reminds me heavily about a different song or something I think... Anyone know anything similar to this?

  30. m.... s....

A fantastic version of one of the greatest songs of all time.
'Love Is' was in some ways Eric Burdon's ' Pin Ups'

  31. M.... J....

    saugudd

  32. B.... o....

Home baby love you just home baby I love you jet

  33. f.... e....

à 1.13, j'adore la photo d'Eric avec la belle Angie King.
Un mariage très hippie au Speakeasy à Londres. Mais la belle aventure ne durera que 6 mois...

  34. l.... ....

    Not bad....

  35. a.... ....

i have a great (true) story about this song....not what you're thinking either....

  36. L.... d....

Once again, The Animals cover a classic and make it their own. Bang up job ,Animals!!!!

  37. j.... ....

That was a unique album and had many great songs on it.

  38. L.... R....

They just made it their own. Perfect in every way. A young Andy Summers on guitar.

  39. P.... B....

The original is still the best. Johnny's cover is 2nd best. Several others fall after that and I just do not see this one in that top 5 versions.

  40. P.... N....

It's as if they stole the Pixies' act, 20 years before they existed.

    P.... N....

No Name --RIGHT ON keep on !!!

  41. L.... B....

Johnny's version was great.  Eric's ranks right up there!

  42. R.... C....

Eric is my favourite white blues/soul voice of all time.

  43. J.... K....

One of the finest versions of this tune that I have heard !

    J.... K....

@John Knottenbelt Ever hear Social Distortion's version?

    J.... K....

+BassPlayerSusan The Animals, Social Distortion and Johnny Cash versions are all great.

    J.... K....

MUY bueno y además lo dejo para un capicúa chavales APASALOBIEN

  44. i.... ....

    Great! Love this version

  45. a.... ....

This album was fantastic. So much more to it. Great band he had with him on this.

  46. B.... J....

Eric Burdon has that great 'throaty' singing voice. it is quite unique.  Jim Morrison had it too.

    B.... J....

+Walt Jabsco How can it be unique if Jim Morrison had it too?

    B.... J....

    John Kay with Steppenwolf too.

    B.... J....

@Destiny McDonald BTCP NODD TEIT WAN AEDCP AVGCP AUTTP ATPNG ACTAC ACSC Ill tell you Jim had a deep voice,Eric had a hoarse voice,The 60s sounds were unique,as knowing them as a different sounds, or bands ,per se..,, todays music sounds the same ..I hate when someone compares singers with others..You must be under a certain age ,because you would understand......Everyone back then had there own....Which made them unique.. themselves..

    B.... J....

    60srecords Patronising old fool.

    B.... J....

Exactly. I think Jim Morrison and Eric Burdon had the best hard-hitting bluesy, rocking voices (aside from the blacks) during the 60s.

  47. n.... ....

Eric , this song is not for you. Love all your other stuff tho.

    n.... ....

Wolffreespirit Rebel Grow up and learn some manners.

    n.... ....

+namnoiz It's very different from Johnny Cash's version, and it's obvious Eric had to struggle with it, but I think he mastered it.
+Wolfreespirit Rebel Please learn to disagree without being disagreeable.
One big question: why did this song turn up in my recommendations?

  48. m.... ....

This song was written by June Carter, J.C.'s guardian angel during many years. It would thus be right to add both names to the credentials. Thanks from a life time fan of the one and only Johnny Cash who is agreeing fully with Lindokuhle Msibi's opinion!

    m.... ....

Hers was the best version, followed closely by Johnny

  49. D.... Q....

This is a great version. Eric had so much soul and emotion.

  50. k.... k....

Magnificent Eric Burdon !! Masterpiece!!! Amazing guitar !!!!!!!

  51. L.... M....

There is NOOOOOOO WAYS this version can be beter than Johnny Cash. There are soo many covers of this song and of all of them, this one is the worst

    L.... M....

@Lindokuhle Msibi They''re both great. What Eric did here was very creative, taking the tune in an entirely different direction than Cash. Mellow out.

    L.... M....

+Lindokuhle Msibi This is the best version.

  52. H.... S....

    F l a m i n g..
    Magnificent Eric Burdon !!

  53. c.... v....

    Outrageous Eric Burton

    c.... v....

    Shamefull indeed.

    c.... v....

Outrageous indeed to misspell the name of such a famous singer, Eric Burdon

  54. S.... D....

    fucking great song!!!!!

  55. a.... ....

Johnny thought this was very cool!!!

    a.... ....

    So, did Gardner. Ha

  56. S.... B....

    This man is truly awesome!!!!!!!<3<3

  57. P.... M....

caramba como amo esse cara, a versão da versão deles da música do Cash.
Tudo que Burdon toca vira ouro. <3

  58. z.... ....

Sadly, most people in America never heard this song, even with alt-rock radio, there was apparently never space within the programming hour for a work like this. I discovered it on a 99-cent cutout vinyl LP

    z.... ....

I'm not suprised. I wouldnt myself

    z.... ....

My brother had this album..We listened to it all the time when I was a kid..

    z.... ....

I sadly must admit that if though I'm avid fan of what we call the British invasion, especially mr burdon and I have just now discovered this. Thanks Brits and long live the queen

    z.... ....

Big US Animals Fan since the early 70's. Have this on vinyl. Been listening to it for decades. Searched for it specifically here cause it's one of my favs.

  59. S.... ....

Eric Burton knew how to make a song his own.

    S.... ....

@SuperBigdude77 Is he related to, like, Richard Burton?

    S.... ....

No. Eric is from Newcastle UK, Richard was Welsh.

    S.... ....

No, and they have different last names: Eric Burdon vs Richard Burton

    S.... ....

    Ring of Fire
    Johnny Cash

  60. B.... S....

This is so amazing, love his voice!

    B.... S....

check out everything he did , u wont be disappointed. Animals peace .

  61. x.... ....

when i wa about 12 years i heard that song , it is still GREAT

  62. B.... S....

What can I say simply the best! ;)

  63. J.... K....

One of the best vocalists to have come out of the UK ! Newcastle let's hear ya ! Te other two greats were Steve Marriott & Paul Rodgers of Free fame !

  64. f.... ....

i was an animals fan throughout and consider this to be the pinnacle of their creativity and rock evolution. obviously, if you're into blues, it would have left you in the dust. i feel for you, but it doesn't diminish their genius on this album. this song, and river-deep-mt-high and gemini-madman went so far beyond the normal sing-along songs. they were masterpieces. unfortunately, what killed them with this album is it didn't fit into any of the 'top-40' genres--no one knew what to do with it.

  65. t.... ....

    Best version of this song.

  66. m.... ....

    Wow! Great cover!

  67. T.... D....

    You should try youtube.com/watch?v=ZS_CQkPavyc

  68. D.... ....

Eric Burdon & The Animals: The only band that can cover a Johnny Cash song and play it better than Cash. With all due respect to Cash, IMO ever since The Animals first played this song, God must be smiling.

  69. V.... ....

lol didn't even know another version of this song existed.... This is nice. I like this version alot.

  70. t.... ....

It takes me back to October 1968, when I was a hippy and tried drugs first time.... I quitteed drugs but not teh music. I still love this song since I have heard first time. THANKS!

  71. 3.... ....

I bought this album at the PX on Ft.Riley in 1968 & played it when ever we were not in the field & I had the portable record player out.Not too many people in the barracks liked it.The whole album is awesome.

  72. T.... ....

I still love the animals but i think that johny cash his version is better

  73. t.... ....

i still remember when i've heard this song in October 1968 - the same month when Jimi came out with the Electric Ladyland... 44 years have passed, but like it happened just yesterday...

  74. J.... L....

Just a reminder..to hear this as it was intended this track "Ring of Fire" should segue right into "Coloured Rain," (on YouTube with some big Greyhound bus image) the way it was presented on the album "Love Is." Listening to it that way, gives you an entirely bigger scope of this great Eric Burdon and the Animals song production. This is The Animals at their best. Their "Stairway to Heaven" so to speak.

  75. R.... ....

Such music is sadly now no longer made.

  76. L.... L....

    I LOVE THAT VOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  77. A.... O....

I love this version def my favourite

  78. c.... ....

i still have this album!!! you gotta love this song by this band was and is still one of the greats

  79. w.... ....

    ACCEPT USA!

  80. p.... ....

La meilleure version de cette chanson as far as I'm concerned !

  81. W.... ....

Actually before Johnny Cash recorded it, June Carter's sister Anita Carter, recorded it, About six months prior to Johnny Cash. So even though it was a huge hit for Johnny Cash, his version is actually cover of the song.

  82. S.... P....

    both amazing song and version

  83. W.... C....

going to see them next week.... can't wait!

  84. R.... D....

Wow, Eric has a beastly sound. So stoked to See Eric & The Animals March 11 at Casino Nova Scotia, Canada. Ever since the concert got announced I have spent a few hours a day with Mr. Burdon. Wooooooo : )

  85. c.... ....

This song is eight years older than I am, and yet it is one of the best I know. Awesome music produced during interesting times. Wow, just wow.

  86. D.... M....

    brilliant

  87. S.... ....

Interesting!! No one can replicate Johnny Cash...so Eric took it and made it his one. Both versions are good, I just cant get over how unique this is. Very Interesting Cover. way to go, Eric.....AGAIN!

  88. A.... O....

In my opinion the best version of this song, Eric stamps his own style on it.
I bought this in 1968, still love it.

  89. w.... ....

I haven't heard this since it first came out. Thought I'd never hear it again. Fantastic!

  90. 6.... ....

@Ramshaki Andy Summers is not in that photo, but he did play on the recording. That photo was from before Andy and Zoot Money joined the band.

  91. K.... ....

What a voice. Cant say no more.

  92. T.... ....

Kinda cool I played this version of Ring Fire for my Uncle a hard core Country Western lover and player and he told it was better than Johnny Cash's ,I love em both,That was about 37 or years ago.

  93. T.... H....

Love this, Eric has such a sexy voice. Many thanks for sharing.

  94. L.... P....

    Simply the best version.

  95. A.... K....

    @Ramshaki
    The guitarist from The Police

  96. J.... T....

Very few people like Eric. Maybe Mick Jagger, Greg Lake, Johnny Cash...

  97. M.... ....

Wow!! I love this man! He can sing with so much passion.

  98. d.... ....

The soul in this man is unmatched. ERIC IS THE FUCKING MAN I love this song I love Eric and I love the animals. Wow is this song great thanks for the memories

  99. e.... ....

Lovely trippy version. Eric Burdon at his best. Dare I say: "Flaming passion"? :D

  100. t.... ....

Trippy version but still enjoyable. cheers TyT
