Eric Burdon - Hey Gyp Lyrics
I'll buy you a Chevrolet, I'll buy you a Chevrolet
I'll buy you a Chevrolet if you'll just give me some of your love girl
Please give me some of your love, please give me some of your love girl, all right
I'll buy you a Ford Mustang, I'll buy you a Ford Mustang
Yeah, give me some of your love girl, yeah, you know what I want
I'll buy you a Cadillac, ah, ah, I'll buy you a Cadillac
I'll buy you a Cadillac if you'll just give me some of your love now, yeah
Give me some of your love woman, all right, yes, I will
I'll buy you a house on a hill, I'll buy you a house on a hill
I'll buy you a mansion on a hill if you just give me some of your love now, now, now
Give me some of your love, good good lovin', all right, all right
I don't want your Cadillac, boy, I don't want your Cadillac, yeah
Woman can't you hear my heartbeat?
Can't you hear my heartbeat?
Whoa, can't you hear my heartbeat?
I just need some of your love girl, I need some of your love now, yes I do
Can't you hear my heartbeat?
Can't you hear my heartbeat?
Don't you hear my heart?
Yeah, hear my heartbeat, up
My heartbeat, yeah
I'm going under your spell, like thunder, help
Help, help, help me, yeah, all right
I'll take your Cadillac, I'll take your Cadillac, all shiny and black
I'm gonna take your Cadillac, boy, take your Cadillac, how
Take your Cadillac, now, take your Cadillac
Give me your love, give me your love
Whoa, love, oh love
Give me your love, give me your love

Eric Burdon Hey Gyp Comments
All hail Eric Burdon and The Animals!
Proto-punk
Eric “sugar cube” Burdon chose to skip two verses
I drive A chevy baby
I have a Ford Mustang......
Le final est génial !
Formidable version différente de celle inoubliable de Donovan
c'est trop trop mimi 👍
Oh yes. Top drawer
Just wonderful!
Go listen to Memphis Minnie's original version
miam miam
it doesn't get no better than this
Animals @ their best. killer
Better even than Donovan’s original version,ABSOLUTELY THE ANIMALS WERE THE BEST GROUP OUT OF THE BRITISH INVASION!!!
dans mes favoris
Je te suggère d'écouter la version originale qui est un blues de Memphis Minnie en duo avec son compagnon, le titre est Can I Do it For You il me semble.
Une autre version intéressante est celle de Donovan également appelée The Gyp.
There’s an old one. Good song
Such remembers....this is IT....the Sound.
House rising sun is bout 100 yrs old. lots a versions. I heard n highschool.
eric burdon après the haus of the rising sun se devait de faire aussi bien
a distinctly pronounced sexual desire is always pure pleasure when performed like this... and it's a pleasure to answer :)

Raconteurs 2018........... Mr. Know it All
Interesting that Eric Burdon, who's English (along with the rest of the band) is singing about a Chevrolet, a Ford Mustang, and a Cadillac - cars which were very rarely even seen in their country in reality, given their high cost there. But it's a sign of how influential American music was at that time.
@hebneh
Maybe the names these American cars sound a lot cooler than Austin Mini, Vauxhall or Land Rover. British cars are crap anyway...
@Manfred Meiners
Maybe it is just a cover. Aston Martin is not a crap
There is a reason why British car manufacturers went out of buisiness way back in the 80's.
Burton loved America. He came here as fast as he could and never went back (to live).
hebneh USA conquered the world ofer a century ago... thru film and music
Bloody Awesome!
Although the lyrics have been changed you'll find this is actually a classic Mississippi blues written by Ed and Lonnie Young, originally called Chevrolet. Recorded in 1959 it probably dates back to a much earler time. Great version by the Animals which captures the rhythm of the original well.. Another good version is by Taj Mahal which stays closer to the original song.
Well either the lyrics were changed or this is all bs... cause there was no such thing as a Mustang in 1959
@Brian Grant
Naturally the lyrics were changed as with all classic blues with each new version or reworking.
@Jaroslav At Amsterdam Oh yes I'd forgotten that. around the same time as the Animals, maybe earlier.
Brian Grant He said Chevy. A Mustang is a Ford duh
Ed and Lonnie didn't compose it, rather their version was inspired by Memphis Minnie & Joe McCoy "Can I do it for you" in 1930. Donovan did it his own way, inspired by the original Memphis Minnie/Joe MCoy, not the Youngs version. Donovan changed the lyrics and called it Hey Gyp after his friend Gypsy Dave.
Just wondering if they understand what the lyrics refer to....Burdon probably does, Sugar cube to those who know.
Um, it's about promising a girl the world so he can get in her knickers, something like that
Listen to the lyrics by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe of the original song "Can I Do it for You" to get the meaning.
TROP BON TOUT CA KOKO THE BEST ANIMAL GOOD GOOD LOVE SIXTIES
♥♥♥
Well, maybe... Bo Diddley is great but this song as been written by Donovan and this cover is rather different and good.
2 ppl thought this song is from snoopy-doggy-dogg...
They stole that beat from the great BO DIDDLEY !!!
Asshole
Ésta es la dosis de Rock And Roll que necesito hoy. Eric Burdon y The Animals me paspan, siempre.
I've been looking for this for 41 years, I was looking for the wrong title. I had borrowed the disc from someone at school, didn't have the cover with it. Fantastic song!
did you guys and gals feel that what you say eric ear fucking the lot of us
@orangesugarcube you said it, mate. total agreement.
The album(yeh I still call them album's) Animals, Animalism, was probably the best that they ever did. Eric Burdon is now in his 70's and still performing, he'll be in Tarrytorn, NY in june 2011
love that sound especially the organ teaser...
Yes, Eric Burdon and Steve Marriot had the best soulful voices in Rock
orangesugarcube Totally Agree
What an incredible voice.
5 stars&super
First song I learned to play on the guitar
Gotta keep coming back to hear this every so many years . FANTASTIC!!!!~
In the summer of '68, I wore this record out.. The animals were my favorite band back then... can't believe 42 years has slid by...
Great song. It is not better than Donovan just a very different arrangement in a totally different music style.
I want the Donovan version...
Wow!! Better than Donovan's original, for sure. Thanks!!
No..it sounds like Bo Diddley..
I was never mad...I am 21 and this kinda music is all I listen to. I just bought Retrospective the other day and when I heard this song the first thing I thought of was My Generation..that's all.
FisherGleek2112 lol me too and I'm 15
yea well I'm asking people right now and they say it sounds like My Generation at Isles of White.
yes...you are the only one ...and i asked everyone
Am i the only one who thinks the opening tune in the beginning sounds like The Who..My Generation?
A great garage-band classic, written by Donovan! Great sound!
Thanks for posting!
you are wrong on all levels, it was written much earlier by some people down south probably originated in jug music due to the awful conditions they had to endure from the whites jugs was all they had to make a tune, broken jugs at that
