Epik High - Amor Fati Lyrics

God doesn't love me. 나 털어놓을 게 많아
고해성사는 없지. 재떨이나 줘봐
Inhale, exhale.
I'm in trouble
우린 완벽히 맞는 조각 둘, 다른 퍼즐
Fuck, 신성하지 않은 세상이
신성시하는 것들
They cannot change me
Nothing can save me

You try to run away
Run away from the world
But then you run away
Run away from yourself
And you don’t know the way home

난 나를 믿어
눈에 보이는 이 순간을 믿어
이 술잔을 믿어
But they call me a non-believer

You try to run away
Run away from the world
But then you run away
Run away from yourself
And you don’t know the way home

난 나를 믿어
손에 고이는 내 땀을 믿어
내 심장을 믿어. 사랑을 믿어
But they call me a non-believer

It's Hell's kitchen.

You try to run away
Run away from the world
But then you run away
Run away from yourself
And you don’t know the way home
There's no way home

Oh God, he doesn’t love me
I know he doesn’t love me
Well, neither do I
Neither do I

We are others
We are the others

"God doesn't love me" Something you hear not from God, but the people, who think they know God so well.
He is condemned "Nothing can save me", because he is the way he is and this titles him a "non-believer" in the eyes of society. It doesn't matter, if he believes in God. They say, he doesn't, so they are right."What the unholy world considers holy" is what goes, what makes the rules. You don't count.

When the lyrics say " oh god, he doesn't love me, I now he doesn't love me" and then "but neither do I" does he mean that he doesn't love god, that he doesn't love himself or is uncertain to know? I'm sorry, I ask because english is not my first language

  20. J.... ....

One fact I would like to layout is that this song is part of the album that followed immediately after a terrible and tragic incident.
Some idiot claimed that Tablo faked his education status with though he had no proof or whatsoever. Tablo was cyber-bullied and hunted for being a liar. It was so severe, Koreans described this incident as 'witch-hunted Tablo.' He couldn't even work or go for a casual walk without suffering a commotion. His father, who was just recovering from cancer, watched all the fake-reports about him and hateful accusations. From extreme stress, his cancer got worse and he passed away.

This song is part of the first album he released in years after his father's funeral.

People gaining strength from the song who's struggling about their identity? It's cool.
But I'm not so sure about using an artist's pain as a propaganda, which is what I'm seeing in 'few' of the comments.

I'm mainly trying to add some information about the song's background.

Oh no no nooo... I'm so sorry you were told that. It's completely and utterly wrong. Now I don't want to force my beliefs of you at all, but if you wanna read this I'd appreciate it.

Anyway, I've been raised Christian and recently I've had to step away from religion in a way, and find out why what I believe is true. I'm not just spitting back up what I've been told. I have found all this to be true.

*God most certainly loves you!* God does make it clear that homosexuality is sin, but that doesn't make Him not love you! We are literally ALL sinners. Now it's really important we acknowledge sin and be willing to do what's right, but there's only so much we can do against evil in this world as humans. *And God knows that!* He has already paid our dept to Satin for our sins, and all we have to do is repent and except His gift of forgiveness and eternal life with Him.

Wow I'm sorry this is so long! But I really want you to know that God still loves you more than we can imagine. He made you to be you, and wants you to love yourself too. 💜💜

He sounds so fucking angry in this song it makes me sad. Korea treated him like shit, and I hope he's managed to let go of all that bitterness, even if it has made him lose his faith. He seems to stand proud now, and that's all that matters :)

    What does amore fati means..??

    e.... k....

ellie kookie late comment but it can be translated as "love of one's fate" it's pretty much the acceptance of the events or situations that occur in one's life

  35. I.... h....

Im a young bisexual teen im also catholic my parents know about these "feelings" but they dont know that i identify as bi im scared to talk to my friends since some go to really religious schools this song is so deep and i can relate to it so much

    I.... h....

I relate to what you're saying. I'm a christian and I've been raised like a christian, I go to a chrisian school etc but since I was little and started to fall in love, I loved boys but girls too. As I grew up, I was taught by my family and at church that it isn't right. I really want to tell them my personal opinion to them and to tell them that I'm bisexual but I'm too scared so I tried to hold all in. I feel hurt everytime they say that it isn't right and say hateful things about the subject or react in a disguisted way to homosexuality on the media. But for me, didn't Jesus told us that love is the most important thing? and not to hate on anything different? Being christian and part of the lgbtq+ community is not wrong from my perspective, the only problem is the other people who condiderate themselves as a good christian but react that way

    I.... h....

all of you are loved so much, don’t you ever forget that!! you are special an unique in many ways. thank you for existing 😊💜

    I.... h....

I’m a bi dude and I was raised Christian but I’m one of the most atheist people someone would meet, I don’t have anything against people who are religious it’s just I know how bigoted and small minded I was as a kid because of “god”. My family isn’t even really religious either, I just remember going to church a little.

  36. P.... S....

노래는 좋은데 트로트 아모르파티에 압살당해버림 ㅠㅠ

  37. K.... W....

I relate to this on a very personal level. I can't even count the times i sat through so many church sermons where they called lgbtq+ the "poison in the pot" and my family nodded along. I was always trying to hold back my tears. I'm starting to doubt myself. Am i the one that's really wrong? Is it all my fault for loving another woman? When my sister asks me with that snarled lip and disgusted voice if i "agree with all the lgbt stuff" i can't even speak. But i have to betray myself and shake my head no. But the lines are blurring now. Am i really lying now when im saying i don't like myself? It's so lonely. Will anyone even see this? Will anyone care? Will it be just another angsty comment to you? Well this is my life. This is Real. Even if it is my fault that im this way, it hurts. Can anyone tell me why the world is so cruel? Sometimes i want to rip my heart right out of my chest and yell at it why it betrayed me and fell in love the wrong way.

    K.... W....

    xzjae Sincerly thank you

    K.... W....

I relate to what you're saying. I'm a christian and I've been raised like a christian but since I was little and started to fall in love, I loved men but women too. As I grew up, I was taught by my family and at churh that it isn't right. I really want to tell them my personal opinion to them and to tell them that I'm bisexual but I'm too scared so I tried to hold all in. asarandipity It's so hard sometimes. I like the quote in the song that goes like this, "is it okay to throw stones of you're without sin. Isn't it a sin to throw stones anyways?"

    K.... W....

Hey, as someone who is a Christian here, just want to tell you that God loves you no matter what. I'd encourage you to try and pursue Him and see where you end up.

  44. D.... ....

I respect Tablo and Epik High's music, and I'm not trying to force my beliefs on anyone, we're all free to believe what we will. But the misconceptions about God throughout this song did make me sad to see. There are many horrible people whom "click tongues and point fingers" and that includes many self-proclaimed "Christians," but please know that those types of "Christians" do not represent at all what God actually wants His people to be like. No matter how much such people try to call themselves holy, they do not truly understand God. Jesus himself let us know that NO ONE has the right to cast a stone at others, because we are ALL sinners. If a Christian truly understands what the Lord wants of us, they would know they must never act high-and-mighty nor persecute others. Even the scripture Matthew 7:3 says "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" People that do such things are hypocrites, and hypocrisy is something that God does NOT approve of. It makes me sad that those loud and horrible people give the rest of Christianity a bad rep. What God really wants is for us to turn away from the evils and corruption of the world, and to strive for truth and goodness. ♥

Saying each place is the original, being stubborn about their own taste

Just one meal of answers makes the table shake
Making you salivate until you can’t even hold the spoon anymore
Blind beliefs, showing signs of indigestion only after you show blood"

These lines describes how religions work.

    E.... A....

@from an average student perspective oh lol i thought he might be talking about the way the media and/or government manipulates and deceives the people especially with the line "a greater vice than selling me drugs is selling me the wrong answer"

  49. T.... ....

I just discovered this song and I am in love with it.

  50. J.... J....

Tablo : god doesn't love me

    So god says like that

    "(No) I love... I love....
    I love... I love... I love...."

  51. H.... M....

This song encapsulates my struggle in being an atheist in a Catholic nation (and in a family where most are Christians). Every single dang Sunday, I feel like puking out when I'm in church because I don't even believe in what I'm listening to. I just keep feigning being Christian because of the discrimination that would soon ensue if I out myself on being an atheist. I fight for women's rights and equality (including LGBT rights). But I believe that wouldn't happen as long as these forces ingrain in our minds that women should surrender themselves to men or be under them, meaning they are inferior (this fcking promote rape culture you know?!), and that being LGBT is a sin (I have a lot more to say but I'll stop here)... This song serves as a reminder to me at least how religion can control us (I believe religion has a function though. But I still don't believe that there is God). We thought we're saving ourselves from the 'sinfulness' of the world, but if we just open our eyes, it is from our true selves we are running from. All my life I've been running away from my true self--the things I really wanna do, fighting for the things that matter to me etc. Don't let yourself suffer like me please. I am still in the bondage of religion, but if you can leave, do it and do YOU.

    H.... M....

We are opposite. I am a Roman Catholic. I don't believe in religion, but I believe in God. And I have question, what do you mean by religion has a function? What function?

    H.... M....

    The function is quite obvious

    H.... M....

function: giving life a sense (I think that's the main reason why so many people believe in something like this)

    H.... M....

I’m in the same boat, I live in the middle of the Bible Belt with a 100% baptist family but I’m Buddhist and lgbt, I hope we can both eventually escape the life we live captured

  52. U.... o....

"Can sinlesses throw stones? Isn't throwing stones a sin?"

  54. M.... C....

I heard this before I saw the translated lyrics and I loved this before I looked at the lyrics and now I love it even more! Epik High and Tablo always finds a way to express so deeply that it makes you feel before you even know what is being said. This album and Tablos rendition of eyes, nose, lips, brings me to tears every time..and that's why I love this group and Tablo so much!

Beenzino and verbal jint are some of my favorites but I like tablo too ... Oh and Bobby he's awesome !

  64. .... ....

I love this song but can someone tell me wht this song is actually about ????

    .... ....

If you look at the lyrics in the point of a homosexual it would make more sense. So it's basically saying, why is it a sin to be who they are? Every religion say they are the one to believe in but why do they all act the same towards homosexual? I'm glad Tablo wrote this song to point it out. I was a bit confused too and did some research :)

    .... ....

+CrownJ It's not actually about homosexuality, but good try! :D

    .... ....

@문환히 really?? the lyrics fits perfectly haha. What does it actually mean then? Im really curious. Its one of my favorite songs but I just cant seem to understand it??

    .... ....

    +CrownJ
It actually referred to a lot of the abuse in the industry and Korea's current political situation.
As much as it can be used for homosexual situations, Epik High did say that this song was about their personal struggles and dark times, which can only point towards well known abuse in the industry and political themes, with prior knowledge of the Park administration and their corruption. As we know, politicians are very connected with idols, even sometimes making deals with them for some sort of service.

He does touch on a lot of the no dating policies in small bits of the song ("I believe in love," and reminiscing on some sort of lover in the past who he seemingly is no longer with.
And then he moves on to speak of this 'business' that he does actually mention several other times. If you think about this, this business very well be an agency or the industry.
And then when he begins, "It’s the source of a thousand illnesses that kicks away the meal table of the starved reality" He's touching on the fabricated personalities made by agencies for their idols to show to fans; as we know, most idols have intense mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, etc...
And "It's hell's kitchen," That was the part that gave away the political aspect. Right now in Korea they're calling Korea Joseon Hell, or just Hell in general. There are a million hell related names tied to Korea right now. It makes complete sense that he would be referring to Korea. And then he moves on to talk about the fans.
"They’re all gathering under the red sign of their favorite place
Saying each place is the original, being stubborn about their own taste," That is indicating about extremist fans who really make it hard for the artists. However, most fans in Korea at least are like that. Specifically the fangirls. And then right after that verse he seems to be making a jab at trainees and idols themselves.
"What they sell is the same poison
The scariest of it all are the overeating ideas
Just one meal of answers makes the table shake
Making you salivate until you can’t even hold the spoon anymore
Blind beliefs, showing signs of indigestion only after you show blood"
This is blatantly pointing out the ignorance of most trainees and idols. They go in at a very young age and aren't sure of what they're getting into. So he's speaking on the CEO's and companies that blind these trainees just so that they can make money off of them, no matter at what cost of pain and mental damage.
"There's no way home," At this point Kim Jongwan says after that whole verse, and he's basically saying they have no way to properly escape. You can't just quit this life.
"They break a perfectly fine leg and make you use a cane," This was actually a direct reference to an idol group, Z:EA. When Dongjun was posting suspicious things on twitter, he mentioned how his manager broke his bandmate's leg during the idol olympics to get more popularity and bring in sales, and Dongjun happened to be in the room when that happened. That's when he declared war on all CEO's with disclosed information.
"They make you eat a poisonous apple when you’re hungry
They make you hold guns and knives instead of hands
Are you all clean?" This in general is referencing to Korean society. It's very individualistic, just like America these days. No one is exactly to be trusted because of the way the political spectrum is going these days.
"They break a perfectly fine wing and make you crawl on the ground
They click tongues and point fingers
Does that mean you can throw stones at the sin-less?
Isn’t throwing a stone a sin itself?" He then goes on to mention "they break a perfectly fine wing and make you crawl on the ground," This is a direct reference towards anti-fans who literally ruin the careers of idols for no actual purpose. And then the next line, "They click tongues and point fingers," After you've fallen from favorable status, that's exactly how it is. People look down on idols for a while after something like that happens.

    The rest is pretty explanatory.

    .... ....

+CrownJ Just google about Tablo's past and you will understand how much he was marginalized by the korean society, haters, industry, rumors, his father. And you will understand, even though the comment above explains it so well.

  65. J.... L....

"I believe in myself. I believe in the sweat on my hands. I believe in my heart. I believe in love. But they call me a non-believer."

    My favorite lines :)

  66. K.... M....

I related to this song when it first came out.
Now that I think about it, there's so much pain behind this...

  67. N.... A....

this song never gets old, it's hard to choose your favorite song from this album cuz they're all so good TT^TT
Respect for Tablo, his lyrics can reach your heart

  68. P.... ....

Tablo. I can't find words to describe you. There is the Dad Tablo with his daughter all childish and funny. There is the Tablo on SMTM4 with his really bad Dad Jokes. And then there is the rapper Tablo with such deep lyrics that I suddenly start to cry. I really didn't believe I could love Tablo more but my love (as a Fan) increases every day. My wish for 2016 is that you realese a solo Album

  69. L.... H....

THIS SONG GIVES ME ALL THE FEELINGS THANK YOU TABLO

  70. R.... c....

my homosextual friend loves this song so much saying how he feels its talking about him, to him, and for him.

    R.... c....

Tablo tweeted that he wrote it "for people who are mistreated because they were born the way they are." https://twitter.com/blobyblo/status/525535346784616450. It's widely interpreted as referring to LGBTQ+ individuals, although of course it can refer to any marginalized group.

    R.... c....

You're right; this song consoles me when I hate my situation, too [I'm not a typically marginalized individual though]

The narrator doesn't love himself and thinks that God doesn't love him either. Epik High just wanted to express how despondent/discouraged/dispirited individuals who are marginalized by society feel. Anyway, a sad but beautiful song.

    l.... ....

    It's actually about gay people

    l.... ....

@Water Drop He said it was about everyone who can relate to this feeling so yes gay and lgbt but anybody marginalised really

  72. H.... R....

I usualy dont enjoy meaningful music because it makes me think to much abot the grey line stuff, but epik high's music is not the same and I find myself enjoying it, even songs like this one.

  73. a.... k....

My sister (who is a big Tablo fan) told me he wrote this song for the lgbt community. I'm a christian without remedy, but I love this song with all my heart. Society and christians are no one to tell people that God doesn't love them for having a different sexual orientation. I believe He loves us no matter what, but gosh, we don't even know. We know nothing. I'm so happy this song exists, someone needed to say all this things. Also, this line is just wow: "Is it okey to throw stones if you're without sin? Isn't throwing a stone a sin itself?" ♥.

    a.... k....

right I'm a Christian too but this song i love it

    a.... k....

god my ass, if god existed , human must be cheap crap play thing to god, all the sorrowful suffer or the warming happiness of human mean shit to that god u belive.

    a.... k....

@Do Anh Could you appreciate what they were saying? You don't have to be rude man.

    a.... k....

@jess yeah, ur right, i really dont "have to be" rude, it is just how i deal with this kind of bullshit naturally

  74. G.... v....

awesome song! definitely relate to the lyrics. Finding out what the religion you were born into means to you

  75. R.... R....

You know, as a Christian, I just feel bad. His reaction is reasonable but no one gave him the assurance.

  76. E.... D....

up until now I didn't know that the lyrics were saying....I couldn't imagine that Tablo would have said all the things I want to say.

  77. H.... X....

GUYS GO WATCH THE FAN MADE VIDEO!!

    H.... X....

I thought it was fanmade so i didnt bother to check it. But then I saw that verified Epik High official channel mark.
But apparently "the fan" is a professional production company. haha

  78. V.... R....

I'm confused by everyone's interpretation of this song. I think we need to ask the person who actually wrote it.

  79. T.... M....

do you think Haru will look back at these songs her dad made and just think "damn dad, that's deep"

    T.... M....

    all the time

    T.... M....

+Tylicia same thing happened to me too hehe

    T.... M....

    +Tylicia M I know I would

    T.... M....

I would be freaking proud if I was her lol xd

    T.... M....

Nah she'll be pissed that she couldn't duplicate that depth

  80. k.... k....

Omg Epik High and Nell interaction T____T

  81. W.... E....

I really didn't get the real meaning of this song. I'm a religeous person and I believe in god and muhamed. So ...

    W.... E....

@Wydad El Jaouhary It's about more than just religion. I see it as a reference to the Tajinyo Scandal or it could be about homosexuals being shunned from society. Tablo said he wrote it for those who had been mistreated because they are different.

  82. S.... S....

This song doe... Too many feels, makes me high each time I listen to it... did anyone notice those hardcore emotional outburst of him ?? this is not just a song, its the story inside the minds of all those who suffer silently... <3 Tablo I love you [ even lyrics are AWESOME ]

  83. C.... J....

Rather than criticizing God, I think he is criticizing the society

    C.... J....

especially since he is Korean, Korea is pretty close minded and conservative

    C.... J....

InvaSion there is no god so he is critizing the society

    C.... J....

It's both all.at the past he had trouble with protantists.before he believed god too.

    C.... J....

    God deserves to be criticized.

    C.... J....

    @KiaraVanwood um... No

  84. L.... N....

Beautiful song, amazing lyrics. Tablo is amazing.

  85. E.... ....

Let's keep in mind that the SPEAKER of this song may not be Tablo... The thoughts reflected may not be his. I believe this song is more to EMPATHIZE with people who've experienced the similar confusion and indignance than to relay concepts or beliefs.

  86. O.... A....

Let's keep in mind that the SPEAKER of this song may not be Tablo... The thoughts reflected may not be his. I believe this song is more to EMPATHIZE with people who've experienced the similar confusion and indignance than to relay concepts or beliefs.

  87. A.... T....

Man this song made me cry.Such a deep meaning.I don't believe in any religion so i kinda relate

  88. D.... ....

These lyrics are so deep and emotional
As a former christian, these words are so relatable, especially how religion estranged my relationship with my dad's family (His mum, dad, siblings, cousins)
He hasn't spoken to them now for over 10 years and suffered mentally and emotionally.
If God exists, why did he make me into an atheist? Because God doesn't love me.

    D.... ....

    lol...
    Sounds like shopping

    D.... ....

Isn't it weird? Some of the most devout Christians turn into non-believers, and some of the most commited sinners turn into the most commited Christians. Every Christian has their story to how they took the wrong path, how they turned away, how the just stopped talking to God. You never know if this is all temporary, or if it's forever. Sometimes they go back and sometimes they keep on walking away, but in the end it was ALL your choice not his.

    D.... ....

@studder budder The Bible tells us that God is omniscient. He knows everything. He knows many things before they happen. Pretty much God planned events and knew of them before they happened.
Now clearly what the bible says and what you said contradicts.
He knew my decisions before I made them. Is that truly my own decision then? That sounds counter-intuitive.

How about the passengers who lost their lives from the September 11 terrorist attack as an example. All of these people made the decision to board this plane and as a result they have perished under the so-called god's plan which he boasts about. The bible is just full of contradictions which make my head hurt. I just want to live my life to the fullest without worrying about an omnipotent god who monitors my actions and my thoughts.

    D.... ....

+studder budder Even stranger is the way people associate the explanation of "free will" to "apologism". Really strange. But let's not turn this into another annoying atheism vs religion debate. There's enough of that to go around in Youtube alone already.

    D.... ....

    @Caven Dish True true

  89. h.... b....

I'm so confused by the name of the song... amor fati is Latin for "love of fate" but i don't understand it

    h.... b....

it's a Nietzsche sentence used in the "übermensch" (i think it was ubermensch :D)
it means something like accept your fate and life to the fullest, in a sense of contentment/acceptance of one's life, such as that one could live the exact same life for all eternity over and over again.

  90. S.... ....

    Never lose hope tablo

  91. J.... L....

i came here for Nell, cos i love him, but ended up uncovering the crazy tajinyo story, now i feel so bad for Tablo. What world do we live in?

  92. O.... M....

    O.... M....

+Lee Young Yae 이영예 닥치고 짜져있어라

    O.... M....
