Emmylou Harris - Walls Of Time Lyrics
The wind is blowing across the mountain
Down on the valley way below
It sweeps the grave of my darling
When I die that's where I want to go
And take him to that home on high
I'll wait my time out here on earth love
And come to you when I die
I hear a voice out in the darkness
It calls and whispers through the pines
I know it's my sweetheart a-calling
I hear him through the walls of time
Lord send the angels for my darling
I'll wait my time out here on earth love
And come to you when I die
Our names are carved upon a tombstone
I promised you before you died
Our love would bloom forever darling
When we rest side by side
Lord send the angels for my darling
I'll wait my time out here on earth love
And come to you when I die

Emmylou Harris Walls Of Time Comments
I’ll never get tired of this video mainly because Sam Bush straight PARTY ROCKIN’ on that mandolin.
I have always liked Emmy Lou Harris. The mandolin player is good, but too much over the top shaking while picking 1/8th notes.
This made me get in to music, seen this live when I was young, Sam Bush, blew my mind and Emmy Lou, can't thank them enough
Still the best version to me...
Al Perkins is the man on Dobro
Carl Kunkel is he?
My favourite version. Wonderful song.
Emmy my Lord
My favourite version because buddy on the mandolin just givers !
Robby jake : Sam Bush..
Awesome!
Yeah, that other guy did a decent version, too.. .what's his name again? Oh, Bill Monroe. Yeah.
I think Peter Rowan wrote it and Bill took credit
I had heard they Peter and Bill co-wrote it, but I don't know for sure. Bill took credit? That doesn't sound like him. (sarcasm:-)
LOL!!!!!
You know, Rowan has a very nice full-band version, too. I don't know who all the band members are, but there's a female tenor on the chorus. I hate to say this, but Tony Rice is also on it and I cannot stand his break. I love TR, but he really overdoes it and it doesn't match the feel of the rest of the tune at all. If you listen to the guitar break in Skaggs' version, that's perfect. Tony's is, like, jazz or something. And, I suppose, who's gonna to up to him and say, "Hey, Tony... Baby... that stunk. Do it again."
@Pete Langford What? Monroe grab someone else's song? ;)
don't get better than that
thanks. the perfect song for the perfect band
