Sweet. But I prefer Connie Smith's live version,sung solo [as opposed to duet LP version] . She has a such a strong voice and that's what this song requires.

There are many great versions of this song, including the original by The Everly Bros. but I always seem to come back to this one.

Have you heard her and Albert Lee doing this, with Albert singing the lead and playing piano? Her accompaniment is spot on; shows what an unselfish performer she is.

I get chills every time I hear this song.  Around '65 or '66,  I was working as a soda jerk at the local 5&10 cent store,  while Emmylou  was doing time at Lou's fine dining and pawn shop.  I fell hard the first time I saw her, but for some reason her parents didn't like me.  I mean, they didn't even know me for crying out loud.  I walked her home the day we met and Emmylou told me  later, her dad didn't think I measured up to his standards.  Most everyday she would come into the store for a chocolate Sundae, or banana split, and every so often a simple ice cream cone.  No matter what she ordered, I always gave her some extra,  while I reached over the counter and squeezed her hand.  Strange , but she would never let me hold her hand for any length of time.  Eventually her dad walked into the store and ordered a hot fudge Sundae.  I tried to gain acceptance by loading up the Sundae with extra everything.  When he finished he said,  listen to me old timer, if I see you irritating my daughter again,  I'll put a whippin' on you like never before.  I asked him why he didn't like me and he said,  she's only 18 years old and what are you 67 or 68? I told him I looked old for my age, I was actually only 64 and a half.   Yes, it was sad to watch good love gone bad. sniff

How moving. Now you must be 116 or something. Must try again. Time's running out.

This is EmmyLou at her best,  Phil and Don Everly's  Song, Still grieving Phil today, seems like his loss is connected to many personal losses, Especially my Older Sister Carole, who intro'ed me to Everlys in early 1960's ... Feel like a family member has passed away...
