Emmylou Harris - Invitation To The Blues Lyrics
I couldn't sleep last night, just walked the floor
Don't know how I'll stand this anymore
Lonely all the time since I lost you
I received your invitation to the blues
I just hope I'll never go through this much again
Thanks for sending something I can't use
I received your invitation to the blues
You took the laughter from this world of mine
Thanks to you the sun will never shine
Walked the floor so much, wore out my shoes
I received your invitation to the blues
I don't know why you cause me such pain
Lonely me, I don't know what to do
I received your invitation to the blues
Thanks for sending something I can't use
I received your invitation to the blues

Emmylou Harris Invitation To The Blues Comments
geweldig koppel ,geweldige stemmen en een heerlijk nummer
What a pair, awesome sound, just look at the feeling she expresses when she utters the word Blues ! love you for ever Emmylou
Emmylou recorded lots of songs that had previously been hits by other artists but to my belief they were never covers. My way of thinking is that covers try in part to mimic a previous recording. There are millions of people who have fantastic voices but the top stars have voices that are unique. When she sings it its an Emmylou song. Emmylou owns every song she ever sings and her version is often the best. She and Rodney have worked together for over 40 years they fit together like hand and glove. Great to seem them making Country Music that's still real Country.
Love this song by these two and the words especially are so nice!
Hermosasaa!!
Rodney's voice is so calming. Ahhhh
Merci infiniment pour ces enregistrements. Vous savez que c'est ce que je préfère La country quel plaisir!! Et Emmylou avec Rodney Crowell, il n'y a pas mieux, ils font notre bonheur avec élégance!!,
Wow, that is great
pOOr pOOr Emmy.. have problems with their beautiful "colifichets"..
She is so Natural ,look at the meaning & emotion she puts into the lyrics
How right you are Maurice
Along with the Ranchetes!
Take away the keyboard and it sounds exactly like James Garver and the "Boogie grass fever" band! Non better than James and the band
Such a kick ass band!!!
Why don’t A.C.L. put this out on DVD???????
mosrite60. Yes, you got it right with your comment.
Walt Whitman said women sit or move to and fro, some old, some young, the young are beautiful but the old are more beautiful. I thought he was nuts. Then along comes Emmy Lou. Your right Walt I'm wrong.
That group wouldn't burn up alot of studio time making an album. They're great.
I fell in love with Emmy Lou years ago. Just like Parsons, sinker, line, and hook. I couldn't sing, pick the guitar, or play piano. The only way I could see her was when I bought a ticket. Then one day You Tube arrived. Thanks You-Tube. Rodney is great also. . . . Gary Dixon
Stars on the water..... And off it!
Love it!
Audiophile joy A light social drink is called for
So professionally performed! I just love watching Emmy Lou and Rodney perform together. I think Ray Price and Roger Miller would be pleased. I know I am! Thank-You for posting.
Steve Fishell, Hank DeVito, Paul Franklin all played with Rodney. These pedal steelers are top of their class. Great stuff. mos60
Listen to this over and over. what a great rendition of a Ray Price song. The backup band, and singing are FIRST RATE. The way COUNTRY MUSIC should be.
every one playing so clean and together. that pedal player just drives a song.
pissin upa a ropa chef pasquale
I saw Emmylou in 1975 in Jacksonville,Florida . She turns me on even more here than she did then.
+Keith kenobi Have to agree Keith. She gets better with age.
one of the best songs on YouTube ...wow, Emmylou with Rodney just superb singing. mosrite60
Who is pedal steel and tele players? never seen them before with Emmylou and Rodney. Austin City Limits out performs Nashville any day. Some great shows. mosrite60
It is Jedd Hughes on tele. And the great Steve Fishell on pedal steel. Steve has played a lot for Emmylou. Even in Hot Band and many times since then. Top-class musicians both.
@70Bonnieand Thanx for the info. Often wondered about Steve Fishell as I believe he also played pedal steel on HWY 101 Records. HWY 101 are 4 members but their records always have pedal steel. The album covers only show 4. JD Maness may have played on several songs. But yeah, he's really an excellent pedal steel player. Same with Jedd on tele.
@mosrite60 and don't forget the great bass playing of Byron House!
What a great band.
@dreadnaught90 oh yeah, great bass. abit in the background, but still present. as you said it...great band. 2nd the motion.mosrite60
Great Sound!
~WOW! What A Great Duo And What A Great Band!~ Beautiful Video!
Country music.
Dude. Check out the way the drummer double taps the snare. So nice. Effortless.
I believe they said the drummer is related to Hank Williams
Smooth Yall:
Πολύ όμορφο !!!
SUPERB!!! God bless Rodney & Emmy!!! This is one of my favorite country songs of all time, and though they don't out sing Ray Price and his original hit, they are a close, close second......
+PaulaT S. "They don't out sing Ray Price".......(!!!!!???)
Um,..... It's Emmylou Harris, Dude!.........
DÆVEN han døtte for musikk...
i think it can be dowloaded from the PBS site
This is great. Let's hope it will come out on DVD later for those people outside the U.S. not having access to PBS.
