Emmylou Harris - For No One Lyrics
The day breaks your mind aches
You find that all her words of kindness linger on
She no longer needs you
She wakes up she makes up
She takes her time and doesn't feel she has to hurry
And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years
You want her you need her
And yet you don't believe her when she said her love is dead
You think she needs you
She goes out you stay home
She doesn't need him
And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years
Your day breaks your mind aches
There will be time when all the things she said
Will fill your head
You won't forget her

Emmylou Harris For No One Comments
That MUST be hard to take for Paul to hear a fellow musician who should know better saying “written by John Lennon and Paul macartney”.. If I was him I’d make it my mission to change it to whatever songs I wrote (which means he sang) my name goes first and vice versa and ones wrote together LenMac it’s simple!
sing me something...wanna sleep with her
Best Beatles cover ever. EVER
Wait, where are all the right-wing freakazoids attacking the artistry and appearance of the singer????
oh right, country song. You get spared.
This is twelve years old, but even to this very day, Emmylou is just as beautiful as she was 40 years ago.
I normally don't like how others do Beatles songs, however this is so damn good that I must make an exception.
The audience says it all... the many comments back that sentiment, there is only one Emmylou Harris a great beautiful person who has entertained us all for many years I know it's not much but thank you Emmylou...🐨
Amazing rendering of Sir Paul's great song.
Just Paul wrote it.
muy aburridita la versión.
Saddest song in the world..
i wish she'd said it was written by paul mccartney..
Lovely version
Perfect combination a beautiful lady singing a beautiful song.
The day breaks, your mind aches,,,,words of wisdom,,in her eyes you see nothing..
Here's a good version too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCGF4MnG8kA
thanks paul mccartney
SOUND IST NICHT MEIN DING TROTZ TOLLER SÄNGERIN UND ICH GLAUBE AUCH NICHT VON DEN BEATLES
Love her!
Awesome!
Brilliant!! You are a gem!!
how the hell did i get here,?ohhhhh.i remember now..she cool bit im lookn for stp beatles cover.cya
I compare McCartney to the rock pop equivalent of Motzart and Chopin. Lennon was a combination of Chopin and Liszt. ) I think for the rest of humanity we will never see two artists of the rock pop era who will equal everything that Lennon and McCartney had.
A well done tribute to the greatest band ever. At their peak, they would write a dozen timeless songs (like this) a year, without breaking a sweat. Good cover.
Listen to Paul's singing.
I love Emmylou, however.
This version is about as about as emotion as pissing in the toilet.
A very beautiful and lyrical song.
I'm At 1:10 And I Can't Take Any More. This Bitch Is Really Fucking Up One Of The Best Song;s Ever Writing . Paul McCartney
Heard this song countless times by the Beatles, but hearing this version was like "This is what it means" I'm so fucking sad now
AT 1:15 I believe is her daughter Hallie
you don't see her using a pick very often
Great cover.
Huippu. Se on yks hailee millä kielellä tänne ruimii noita kommentteja. Harva niitä kuitenkaan lukee.
Sekin on yks hailee.
Great version. Better tempo than the original. imo,
A wonderful song, but for the best version, listen to the 1975 recording on Pieces of the Sky. Forty years changes ones voice, as it has Emmylou's.
Thank you!
This is an absolutely horrible rendition of a great song. sing the melody to the right chords you hick
This is an absolutely horrible rendition of a valid comment, listen to the melancholia you emotional vacuum.
Oh how I love this women!
Emmy Lou has been a delight and a wonder for so long. I've seen her play many times and I would be happy to see more.
Ela mudou tuda estragou a melodia ela podia ter cantado bem mas nao gostei
the english do music best.
Gran artista y preciosa mujer
nice cover, god bless her
lorenadecolombia hug you like amountain
Very stark observation. Devoid of any hope when the realization sets in &, "in her eyes you see nothing." Perhaps my favorite Beatle song, especially when slowed down, like this fine cover.
Paul here _I love The Beatles, but sorry guys Emmy is so much better than anyone-including you!
Not the same age ...(period)
Not comparable !
:)
I prefer the Beatles version but that's just me. Plus I like the song faster.
Give me a break.
Best version!
She just keeps getting prettier.
well you can't beat them all...not bad..not my cup of tea...Greetings from Ireland
MORE GORGEOUS THAN EVER!!
I swear I think God made Emmylou Harris so we get a little bit of Heaven here on Earth.
I'm just telling you what I think, also this version of the song is pretty poor, and, I never disputed her voice, it's all about the song
CJ carp ,,,oooooh.no no no..thas your opinion...just a normal voice..nothing special,no offence
@fendertele2010 - first off you are wrong, it is not a matter of opinion but fact. There is no bigger Beatles fan on the planet than me, but Paul's version is, well, it's Paul singing a love song, it's syrupy - this is the standard.now run along and share your uninformed opinions elsewhere - I know, try a bee gees vid!
I think that's why He created each of us.
mollkatless This is not a love song. Quite the opposite. It’s about the death of love.
WOW Y'ALL, THANKS FOR THIS SONG.
A beautiful song, beautifully sung!
She totally satisfied my morning music cravings.
Oops! it was on Revolver.
Was this on Rubber Soul?
+David Odell Revolver
Emmylou is hot!
Emmylou is hot!
E muito lindo tbm os arranjos dos músicos nessa versão!!! Parabéns!!!!!!
Linda demais, essa interpretação!!!!!! Shoooowwww!!!!!!
greatttttttt!
Written by Paul for his then girlfriend Jane Asher.
No comment, so Great! Mrs. Emmylou Harris, Nashville, USA...
Phenomenal cover, truly amazing. And I don't usually like Beatles covers.
Everything she covers she does better than the original. This might be "just as good as" instead of better.
PRIT - TEE .......... SHIT - TEE !
Emmylou originally recorded this in 1975 for her debut album, Pieces of the Sky. She sounded just as good in 2007.
All the things you've said will fill your head. you'll wont forget her.
There will be time when all the things she said will fill your head. You won't forget her
@Alberto Valverde Yep not perfect writing but what can you do
All the things she said will fill your head....That means he's so upset that the relationship is over and she doesn't feel the same way. Ever been in love and that person says all these great things, you're the best, I'll marry you, but then her love dies and you only remember the good things and can't believe what she said wasn't true? She said those things, it's still in his head, he's in denial. I'm talking about the genius who wrote the song Paul that's why I say he. He wrote this about a girl who dumped him, and it resonates with most anyone whose been in a relationships. Incredible lyrics and the Beatles did it the best. Can't be a good song to people if they don't understand what they are hearing.
Emmylou you are wonderful.
Emmy Lou forever good. You are the only girl for me after my true love.
No it is not
Even better than the original...
@jeff daniels
Pah! To each his own Jeff, but even McCartney has stated that he liked this version more than that of the Beatles - of whom I still am a HUGE fan . I actually lived through the Beatlemania and the aftermath of the split. And for the record I was stating my own opinion, not blindly following Paul's...
Wonderful E.H.
Under her spell so clear skies open
check my channel if ya can
Boy it's just a whole different take than the Beatles version, isn't it?
And best of all, I can like BOTH OF THEM!
your mum last night too
In fact it was written by McCartney alone - like most of their songs
incorect,
nice cover Mam....
Emmy Lou is a national treasure, her voice is unmatched, unmistakable for any other.
Yes, she is an attractive woman, again unmatched, but let us firstly focus on the great musical memories she has bestowed on us through her playing and writing.
Beautiful cover; love EH!
i started crying before the song begun
Sorry, but she was smoking hot when we (she and myself) were younger. Can't compare things like that.
Written by Paul.
It is actually SECOND PERSON narrative. The narrator is talking to YOU as if it's YOU the song is about. It is very clever and brilliant writing.
She killed the song.
Listen Yesterday sing by sinatra
The song is completely in the second and third person, so the gender or sexuality of the person singing the song shouldn't matter, since the singer is only describing something that's happening to other people.
But this song isn't a first person narrative anyway,it's third person. She isn't singing "The day breaks,MY mind aches"or "she doesn't need ME",she's singing about 2 people OTHER than herself. It might be a relationship between a man and woman or between two women, but either way the singer(narrator),be it a he or she,is simply relaying the story to the listener.Think Astrud Gilberto(a woman) singing "Girl From Ipanema",another third person narrative.
because who cares?
silver haired fox!
I'm sure I heard that somewhere before, I just couldn't remember if it was from a John Lennon interview or not... It "seems" like something Lennon would've liked too.
Cool. I love to hear stories about their relationship. And sometimes you need to put supposedly in front of the quote because there is just so much real and unreal stories about them.
There is a video of Frank Sinatra singing Something and he says (paraphrased) a great song written by George Harrison of The Beatles. Glad he cleared that up. I get confused with the other George Harrison, who was not in The Beatles.
Supposedly John Lennon's favorite Paul McCartney Song.
Paul wrote this song.
The best Beatles cover - EVER. And this is a McCartney song.
good job emmy.johnny
because they're just giving the composition credits. If she played Something, she would have said it was written by George Harrison. The fact is, in the original recording of For No One, Paul and Ringo were the only Beatles on it. George and John didn't record anything for it.
Why in the name of God do most people that cover the Beatles not just say "I'm covering the Beatles". They have to trot out the "Lennon/McCartney" partnership...it's like George and Ringo were just fill-ins.
A really , really slowwwwwwwwww motionnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn . ufffff !
bad version
this cover is not that good... sorry
@mboy09 As a fan of the Beatles (and I mean since I was 7. And I'm 36 now. And, yes, owning all their records and a whole bunch of bootlegs and memorabilia) would love you to speak for yourself only. And, yes, I love this cover. Good night.
