Emmy Rossum - These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You) Lyrics

A cigarette that bears a lipsticks' traces
An airline ticket to romantic places
And still my heart has wings
These foolish things remind me of you

A tinkling piano in the next apartment
Those stumbling words that told you what my heart meant
A fairgrounds' painted swing
These foolish things remind me of you

You came, you saw, you conquered me
When you did that to me
I knew somehow this had to be

The winds of March that make my heart a dancer
A telephone that ring, but whose to answer?
Oh, how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things remind me of you

You came, you saw, you conquered me
When you did that to me
I knew somehow this had to be

The winds of March that make my heart a dancer
A telephone that ring, but whose to answer?
Oh, how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things remind me of you
Remind me of you
Remind me of you
They remind me of you

Wow! What a great rendition of this wonderful song. It's right up there with any version - including Crosby and Fitzgerald. I knew Emmy had a superb voice from hearing her (and seeing her) in the films 'Songcatcher' and 'The Phantom of the Opera.' Can't wait to hear the rest of 'Sentimental Journey!'

Fantastic talent. Must buy the CD.

  21. M.... ....

Perfection. She sings with that kind of innocent lasciviousness which could disarm the most ardent misogynist.

Canción escrita en 1936, por Jack Strachey, Eric Maschwitz y Harry Link. (Ingleses)😉

    "What'll it be, stranger?" *Whiskey!*

  25. C.... B....

Harkins back to an age where acting wasn't enough. You had to be multi-talented.

  26. G.... J....

HOW is that I haven't listen to this before? Is GREAT! BEAUTIFUL!

  27. L.... ....

lol it would be funny if she sang this during karaoke on the show cuz it doesn't match her character at all

  42. B.... L....

I liked this kind performance, because she had a lovely voice and a good singer

  43. C.... F....

Any piano arrangements of this particular rendition?

  44. N.... V....

Late to the party but she has a beautiful regal voice, I had no idea Fiona could sing lol.

    N.... V....

...............You do know that one of her breakout film roles was Christine in "Phantom of the Opera"? Do yourself a favor and see it---her voice is jaw-droppingly crystal clear and heart-melting! And she was only 19 at the time!

    N.... V....

@Islander255 That's not entirely true, when they filmed it she was only 16! Even more amazing.

    N.... V....

I would recommend you also check out her other album, "Inside Out". It's more of a new age album (similar to the likes of Enya). Emmy actually wrote many of the tracks on the albums.

    N.... V....

+locutus94 she was in the movie, "Nola" and, "Dare"

    N.... V....

+Islander255 Listening to her speak in roles & interviews doesn't even hint at the warm tone & clarity of her singing voice.

  45. l.... ....

Every time I get in my car, this is pretty much the only album I listen to. I've listened to it at least 10 times this summer all the way through so far.

  46. b.... ....

that picture would look great as a print hanging on my wall

  47. D.... ....

    Heart You, Manuela!

  48. c.... b....

i wish more people knew about her beautiful, unique voice (:

    c.... b....

I only found out today. Big fan of Shameless. She should since more jazzy tunes, she does them justice.

    c.... b....

I wouldn't say beautiful and I definitely wouldn't say unique. This is the only song that she actually sounds good in

  49. F.... B....

♥Her voice is just so smooth, sexy, catchy, and classy
    Just beautiful ♥

  50. S.... G....

I love how this sounds like it came out from an old radio

    S.... G....

I read somewhere that she had the band play in the background while she sang into a vintage mic during recording. 😊

  51. C.... ....

ConArtistFilms stated that this was a Frank Sinatra song. Not true. This great song goes back to 1936 to the days of the Benny Goodman Orchestra with the voice of the great Helen Ward laying down the voice work. Franks recording was, indeed fine, but this is not Franks song. Emmy's version is tremendous, but so was the James Brown recording of 1963. This song has had some great interpretations over the years and it belongs to no one particular artist.

    C.... ....

Your'e right, it's a great old song with a wonderful back story involving American movie star Anna Mae Wong (the supposed inspiration for the song). My favorite version is from an album called "Jazz A Saint Germain." performed by Jane Birkin and Jimmy Rowles. Give it a listen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JKODszQr2k

  52. N.... C....

It's new, yet it sounds so old.
It's always amazing when both worlds can come together so beautifully.

  53. T.... ....

    Sexy, isn't it?!!

  54. F.... W....

    How can I like this 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000.......times ?

  55. c.... b....

i love her so much. she's so naturally talented. i wish she was more known and that more people could recognize her rare talent.

  56. M.... ....
