Emery - Sins Of Every Father Lyrics
Love turned cold
Bitterness has crawled into words
Walls built to separate us from who we love most
Sold fantasies to fill empty hearts
Robbed by rich men laughing all the way to the bank
Replicate the passion we felt
(How could you expect us to know?)
Calculate the weight of all your guilt
(Believing all the lies that we're told)
Separate the name from the girl
(Killing off the innocent to save our souls)
Souls once called
But darkness will cut out the parts
Of us that were made to be loved from the start
Giving up the love of the family we trade
Replicate the passion we felt
(How could you expect us to know?)
Calculate the weight of all your guilt
(Believing all the lies that we're told)
Separate the name from the girl
(Killing off the innocent to save our souls)
Are you hurting? Hesitating?
Holding out for something real?
(It's the best we got)
But tonight my lips are sealed with the perfect lie
(This could be something more)
The sex is entertaining
And our mouths are salivating
(It's the best we got)
For the power and the pleasure
'Cause the real could never measure up
(This could be so much more)
And the sins of every father
Carried down to sons and daughters
Living massive contradictions
With these passive works of fiction
I'm so sick of it all
I'm so sick of it all

It seems like every song where Devin screams instantly becomes one of my favorites.
His voice is just something special, man. One can only appreciate.
Only problem with this song is the fadeout. Gosh I hate fadeouts...

OMGoose....
I've been a long term emery fan and bought the new cd to support.
But when This song came on, it blew me away... I listen to a LOT of music and rarely do I go into a blissful smile like the one this song has carved on my face.
Hoping you guys come to Canada
I'd gladly host you guys in a hall.

I don’t know where in Canada you are, but I’m in Montreal and would love to se them!
This is my absolute favorite song off the album so far. its so early 2000s emo throwback in all the best ways musically, and the lyrics....on point. "Living massive contradictions with these passive works of fiction I'm so sick of it all!" and the vocal melody of the chorus...incredibly catchy. great work guys!
How is it that I've liked every single song I've heard from Eve so far? Oh wait, it's Emery. 🤣
