A masterpiece from his last studio session in 1975 (not counting Graceland in February and October of 1976). This gem from writer Jerry Chesnut was written in 1968, and thankfully Elvis got to record it. I have heard other versions of this song (Bob Luman, Johnny Darrell etc.), but this is how this song was supposed to be sung. You have good singers, great singers, and then you have Elvis. He was a fantastic interpreter of songs, with the ability to move people to tears with his renditions. Who cares if he didn`t write his own material? There is a reason that songwriters and composers felt deeply honored when Elvis covered their songs. A quote from Bob Dylan sums it all up; "when Elvis cared for a song, and put his mark on it, you could stick a fork in it. It was done".

Now I have to make an Elvis channel...I really miss Elvis's voice and singing. I'm 55, been a fan of his since I was a tot. I even performed as Elvis guitarist in my 1978/79 graduation year in high school variety show. I tried out for a 50's Elvis in a gold suit, I had a whole act thought out to sing King Creole but I was so damn nervous, I didn't make it. So my best friend Jerry Lazaris sang as Elvis 70's while I played lead guitarist at Montreal's' William Hingston HS. Everyone really thought I played for real, I was just synchronizing with the music. Best time ever...
