Elvis Presley - Way Down Lyrics
Babe, you're getting closer
The lights are goin' dim
The sound of your breathin'
Has made the mood I'm in
All of my resistance
Taking me to places
I've never been before
Ooh, and I can feel it,
Feel it, feel it, feel it
Way down where the music plays
Way down like a tidal wave
Way down where the fires blaze
Way down, down, way, way on down
Ooh, my head is spinnin'
You got me in your spell,
A hundred magic fingers
On a whirling carousel
The medicine within me
No doctor could prescribe
Your love is doing something
That I just can't describe
Ooh, and I can feel it,
Feel it, feel it, feel it
Way down where the music plays
Way down like a tidal wave
Way down where the fires blaze
Way down, down, way, way on down
Hold me again,
Tight as you can
I need you so,
Baby, let's go
Way down where it feels so good
Way down where I hoped it would
Way down where I never could
Way down, down, way, way on down

Great song ❤️🎸🎶
This will be my funeral song
Loved thisgrowing up but listening now still do but think woulda been better if it was a little more uptempo, a little faster. Feels like it's dragging now.

Last song of Elvis... End of song bassman robótic voice. Epic.
I hate to say say it but, it's good that Elvis died when he did. Can you imagine the expression on his face the 1st time a transgender female threw her panties at him?
What can I say about the king what a wonderful talent still listening . Thank god he was still around when I was born. So sad he has left us 😭😭😍😍
How fkn COOL is Elvis!!!! ❤👍👍👍👍
If CW ever had a Motown, this is it!
What a song!
This song went to #1 on the day of Elvis' funeral on august 1977.
Elvis Presley
"Way Down"
1977.
Who did the very deep bass voice when the guy said "Way on Down"? The King died 42 years ago today; he'll soon be dead longer than he ever was alive.
JD Sumner
OK, thanks. JD Sumner was with a group called the Stamps.
@Gary Kerns Mhm also JD Sumner also has the lowest recorded chest note.
Rest in Peace. It was 42 years ago. This was his last single to reach the U.S. charts.
Respect Elvis even though he wasn't really my thing. This song however is amazing and a masterpiece and see see rider. Everyone has an elvis song they like
good one!
It doesn’t get any better ! Rock on King , you got me in our spell !! Fantastic!
Best Song Ever !
Don't it make my brown eyes blue came out right after Elvis passed. I swore that song was dedicated to him! Way down was highly underrated!
I'd just heard this song less than an hour before the DJ announced that Elvis was dead.
I believe Tom Parker stole Elvis Presleys body
I believe Tom Parker put a wax dummy in Elvis Presleys
I am a huge Elvis Presley fain
What if his name would have been Elmer? I can't see thousands of teen age girls throwing wet panties at a guy named Elmer.
This song was released after 'the kings death''
Actually it was on the billboard chart at the time of his death
I started listening to Elvis after this came out. I thought he was returning to his roots and then he died, way too young. I believe Marie Osmond is one of the back up singers.
Happy 84th Birthday Elvis.
As every true Elvis fan knows, this was the song Elvis had out playing on the radio when he died.🎸
THE KING IN 1977
My favourite Elvis song by far never understand where that man came from and he could sing like that he was the King.
As a reminder, Elvis had over 300 hit songs from hit singles and radio friendly album cuts. More than any artist. Elvis covered 7 to 8 styles of music because he had that passion for music and kept going. He also made it okay for future bands and artists to crossover into other genres of music. Eventually these bands artists did. Elvis is not the King of Rock and Roll but the Universal Boss of the musical universe. That's why he is called The King from fans globalwide.
This sounds like P.J. Proby.
Nice song!
Feel it, feel it,, i feel it pretty mama
guy was too handsome for anything near him
Probably the closest we ever got to 80’s era Elvis
WAY COOL !!
Want to hear "Elvis" again? Check out bobjoyce with son singing American Trilogy You can't get any closer than the real thing.
This NEVER gets old!

who votes the last Elvis song down?
One of the few 70's hits of The King. His four 70's great hits was: The Wonder Of You, Always On My Mind, Burning Love and Way Down.
Pretty sure "My Boy" was also a top 40 hit. I recall purchasing the single ("45") in the early/mid 1970s.
Viva Elvis Presley linda música 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹💜💜💜💜💜💜
This was Elvis' last single as I recall and one of a handful of late recordings that were as good as his early Sun records. Status Quo - allegedly a powerful duo - covered this and sounded feeble by comparison. There was a quality to El's voice that made him the king then, now and forever. Amen.
2:28 WOAH IVE NEVER HEARD ELIVIS' VOICE THAT DEEP BEFOREeee
Super V I don’t think that’s Elvis
It’s J.D. Sumner
My nan love's you and old shep my nan is nan and i love your songs to im Riley 😢😢😢
I've got a list of Legends but Elvis is top for voice and performance . I love Jonny cash and Marvin Gaye . Aretha Franklin . Buddy Holly . Jackie Wilson . Otis Redding The Beatles . Queen Freddie Mercury. I go on lol x
Greatest Singer ever !!!!!!!!!
If anyone out there is an empath of any kind, there was something about this man's spirit that was very good. I just loved him but was not a big fan, maybe because was a tot when he was first famous.

his last hit. JD Sumner held a guiness world record for lowest recorded vocal. it was certainly way on down on this song.
This needs to be in Guardians Of The Galaxy!
To be honest, lots of classic songs in the 1950's-1970's like Elvis should be in GOTG Vol. 3! Though it changes the mood because the late 1970's-1980's music were very different I guess you could say, but either way a mixture of both would be fantastic!
Star-Lord and his mother have very good taste in music.
Yeah, I could totally see him clicking the play button and start dancing to this. Or play it during a fight scene.
This is the last song he sang before he died
Actually this was the last song he recorded. The last song he sang was blue eyes crying in the rain at his piano at around 4am on the date of his death in the rec room at Graceland.
This is his last single. Was single after his death in late '77.
The last song he played in front of an audience was are you lonesome tonight if you were interested what was his last song in front of an audience x
how many knew when this was released that it was to be his last year?
Elvis would be lost because yes these days music is shit
Yes,he was way down in his spirit when he made this one. Sad and ironic really
I read about how when J.D Sumner hit that low note at the end of the song, Elvis grabbed J.D.'s head and said "J.D., that note was lower than whale shit!"
To me Elvis always had his finger on the pulse of music & was a natural at knowing what suited him best as a singer & as a performer but damn didn't he always surround himself with the best musician's also...
Although more prevalent with his body of work was another legend in David Bowie who always had great bass lines in his back catalogue of great songs & by listening to them again in my late teens I'd found that i was in love with another musical instrument & that was the Bass Guitar before i even knew what it was & this song by Elvis just sums up why...
What a intro with the bass guitar & an amazing bass line running all the way through it...
As musician's we must also remember to never clutter up any given song & " Way Down " was already a very busy song & too keep adding layers of instruments onto of this song would've done it a disservice but damn that bass line became integral to this song & it was a case of that bass line is here to stay...
The 70's was when the Electric Bass Guitar was really finding its feet & so many Bass Guitar Legends that started off in the late 50s & 60s onwards were Young Session Player's who went on to become some of the worlds best bass player's ever & what an innovative time it was in the 70's for this instrument...
Once I realised from an early age that music was my true vocation i had only one school of practice to learn on a daily & that was the Lead & Rythm Guitar as that's what ever kid wanted to be when they joined a band, Right.... Wrong!
I had become more than a competent Guitarist but something kept pulling me to the rythm section of the band, which is the engine room of any great band or solo artist until one day i plucked & pulled on the E Minor & A of my friends Acoustic Guitar & it was like a light bulb moment...
I never looked back as the Bass Guitar became my one true partner for life & when i went back to all the artists I'd listened to as a kid like David Bowie/Led Zeppelin/James Brown/Chic/Sly & The Family Stone/The Brothers Johnson/Graham Central Station/Pink Floyd/Black Sabbath/Deep Purple/Japan/Level 42/Duran Duran/The Beatles/Thin Lizzy/Police etc
I realised it was somethings else that was at work & was pulling me in to all of this music...
The contributing factor was the underlining Bass Guitar Line's along with the Drummer that was driving these great songs along...
This was what i should be doing & i knew i was home & at one with the Bass Guitar...
It filled my heart with joy many years later when i bought a book about the inception & heritage of this instrument called The Bass Book by Barry Moorhouse and Tony Bacon & i was so happy to see photographs of Elvis sitting down at his home in Graceland playing his Fender Bass Guitar's & that he too was a true Bass Guitar Fan...
If your going to play music on an instrument I honestly believe you don't choose your instrument, it chooses you long before you know it, by its feel & sound...
At least true music fans can say they lived in a time were music thrived & it was constantly changing & evolving & you had to change also to keep up with it were as today there's nothing for kids to fall in love with...
There's few artists here & there but nothing like it used to be...
I remember a time were you literally could no't fit enough hours into the day to see all your favourite acts Live & it's just so sad that it has went this way but at least we have the memories & the forever music of a time When Music Was King...
How dare Morrisons use this shame on them way down 😣
Warren Baldwin I dance around Morrisons blasting this on my phone 📱
Elvis the best forever i love you
Weird lyrics, based on all the drugs he was prescribed and how he died a week later.. (It's weird)
This song Fucking ROCKS!!!
I cannot stop listening to this song, someone send help.
Elves for ever
40 years since past and everyone listening to king thank God xxxx
its the 16th of august and the 40 th anniversary of the King today RIP
Ironically, this selection (along with "Pledging My Love") was number one on the United States of America BILLBOARD entertainment magazine 'Hot Country Singles' chart exactly forty years ago this week coming up, the very week that the late, great and legendary Elvis Presley passed away..
This hit from Elvis Presley was the 386th #1 song of the Rock Era in the United Kingdom. Sadly, this was post-humous success as Elvis died on August 16, 1977. This was declared #1 in the UK on September 3, 1977, two weeks after his death.

this will always remind me of one pub that was called the White house in corporation st Swindon wilts
we all seem to remember where we were on the 16th August 1977 it was exactly the same as John Lennon they were both too young to die and people are left won drink how or why these can happen we are all candles blowing in the wind
they should let Mark Chapman out (after he serves a week in Walton,I'd give him 5 mins life expectancy the worthless piece of shit!)
Raymond Michael sings this really great
I really love this song
this was a modern song in its time electric keyboard electric bass etc it was panned by the media at the time but remains true to rock n roll ethics in every way ,plus it has a kick ass beat ,i love it one of my faves with teddy bear
Fave from the King
red west wrote a lot of Elvis's songs. and red was a hell of a singer. and songwriter
There will never be another Elvis Presley no one has even come close. I will always love him
nice song
I love music
What an amazing song , I reckon us brits loved his music more than the Americans 21 no1s in the U.K. !
he went out with a bang, rip elvis
The title of the song refers to the last note by J.D Sumner ;)
@Brandon Johnston Thanks for the info! Didn't know that!
Brandon Johnston who beat him?
marco is correct
Actually the song title has no reference to JD Sumner at all. It was an old gospel song that was converted to a pop song with so e changes to the lyrics for obvious reasons. JD sang the lowest note recorded at the time which was a double low C . Nic Val is the lowest known bass singer now singing a double low B flat ,a full while step below JD. Nic can sing lower than a double low B flat . A guy named Ken Turner could also sing a double low C. My Dad grew up with Elvis and knew him well, even did some shows with him towards the end of Elvis's life. We knew JD very well. My Dad sang with JD in a group called the masters 5. My Dad also said with the Speer family which was the first group to back elvis in the studio along with the Jordenaires, who as most know toured and recorded with Elvis after that.
Also sang ,sorry it was a typo
he definitely was the king
BRANDON RHODES Michael Jackson was better
