Elvis Presley - Money Honey Lyrics

(J. Stone)
You know, the landlord rang my front door bell.
I let it ring for a long, long spell.
I went to the window,
I peeped through the blind,
And asked him to tell me what's on his mind.
He said,

Money, honey.
Money, honey.
Money, honey, if you want to get along with me.

Well, I screamed and I hollered,
I was so hard-pressed.
I called the woman that I loved the best.
I finally got my baby about half past three,
She said I'd like to know what you want with me.
I said,

Money, honey.
Money, honey.
Money, honey,
If you want to get along with me.

Well, I said tell me baby, what's wrong with you?
From this day on our romance is through
I said, tell me baby, face to face
How could another man take my place?
She said,

Money, honey.
Money, honey.
Money, honey,
If you want to get a long with me.

Well, I've learned my lesson and now I know
The sun may shine and the winds may blow.
The women may come and the women may go,
But before I say I love you so,
I want

Money, honey.
Money, honey.
Money, honey,
If you want to get along with me.

HE'S BLESSED - THE KING IS STILL IN THE BUILDING

  17. A.... O....

What made Elvis the King over all after - his ability to change tempo & intensity from his recorded version of a song & then live before an audience he'd put a different intensity & tempo, making the song just as cool.

    A.... O....

He was definitely at his best and in tune with his roots in the 1950s and early 60s Nashville

    A.... O....

Elvis was at his best in the 50s and early 60s Nashville that's the essence of Elvis and he was in tune with his roots in the early days

  19. C.... O....

    Be-Bop a Lula :)

  20. s.... s....

This guy had his own style of music which was totally different to anyone else at that time or since.

    s.... s....

And he was definitely at his best in the fifties and early sixties

    s.... s....

He was equally as good from 68-74 in my opinion👍 if he'd lived after 77 I believe he would have sorted himself out, sacked Parker as his manager. We were robbed of his talent due to his manager imposing a 50% right to the loyalties of songs written. Parker became greedy and wrecked the life and career of the single most influencial artist of all time. After 74 Elvis realised he was "caught in a trap, I can't get out". Sad, I wish he'd been strong willed enough to sort himself out.

    s.... s....

@stephen stone the fifties Elvis will always be at his best in tune with his roots and and who we was actually early 60s Nashville his development as a balladeer singer was at it's all time best that's when he should have sang Unchained Melody in the early 60s his ability to hit the high note his phrasing his all-around tone was at his best the clarity of his voice in the early 60s was at his all-time best performance of Unchained Melody in 1977 was not actually that good Elvis was not in good physical or vocal condition then would have done it so much better in the early sixties 1968 to 1970 he was also in great physical and vocal condition after 1970 he gave Great Performances now and then but never the singer he was in the early 60s late 50s anyway the rock and roll Rebel Elvis bluesy cool tough and rebellious from 54 to 58 will always be at his best too bad Colonel Parker took Elvis away from his roots when he did King Creole and the Elvis is back and movies like Jailhouse Rock King Creole flaming star Kid Galahad the wild in the country loving you that time frame Elvis was at his best thank you have a good day

    s.... s....

@stephen stone singing the blues and playing a rebel is when Elvis was at his best songs like trouble New Orleans party mean woman Blues like a baby it feels so right those moments Elvis was at his best young cool and bluesy he was at his best absolute best when he was singing Blues rockabilly and early rock and roll

    L.... G....

    They can't

    L.... G....

    Nobody can do that

    L.... G....

Well i'm just as a huge Morrison fan as Elvis, & Morrison could rock or use intense emotions in ballads (as Elvis) like "Indian Summer", "Moonlight Drive", "Love Hides", "The End", "Blue Sunday", etc. I wish Jim did more slow ballads like Indian Summer (Elvis' Blue Moon). Elvis will always be #1 for his beautiful soul.

Joker well I only said that because my older family members said that he did. I honestly didn’t come on this video to make false allegations about him sorry if I did. I just came on here because I was mourning the lost of my Grandfather and he use to love this song by Elvis.

    T.... R....

    @Indyy y oh alright!

    T.... R....

Indyy y A lot of black peoples are badly misinformed about Elvis and especially the older blacks who grew up in the 1950s. They think Elvis “stole” their music which is ridiculous. In fact Elvis did these black songwriters a huge favor by covering their songs because they earned royalties on his recordings that far exceeded anything they ever earned on black records. Elvis grew up in Memphis and as a high school kid he spent time in the black clubs down on Beale Street where he saw and heard the great blues and R&B musicians play. He loved the music and he was completely free of racial prejudice. He was good friends with Muhammed Ali and a big supporter of Martin Luther King. Anyway, Elvis knew all this music very well and he was immensely talented as a singer. So he covered some of these songs early in his career. He also sang a lot of other music like ballads and country music. Sadly, a lot of black people assumed that he had stolen their music. They were wrong. Badly wrong. Anyone has the right to sing any song they like, you don’t need to ask permission, and the singer is not responsible to pay royalties, the record companies and the radio stations are. So Elvis didn’t owe anybody anything. He just sang songs that he liked and he sang them better than the originals in most cases. He was truly a very great singer. Don’t believe the nonsense your grandparents told you about Elvis. Check out the many excellent documentaries about him on YouTube. Listen to what black musicians say about him. B B King, for instance, who knew Elvis from early Memphis days on Beale Street. Elvis performed a huge service to black musicians. There’s a documentary on YouTube on black musicians talking about Elvis - listen to it. You’ll see what I’m saying is true. Then listen to how he handles these songs. Check out his real early stuff called “The Sun Sessions”. It’s done if the greatest up tempo blues you will ever hear. And Elvis had the most powerful and beautiful voice of any popular music singer who ever lived. That’s no joke! He could have been an opera singer with those pipes! Follow my advice, check out the music and learn about the man himself. I think you’ll see what I’m talking about.

    T.... R....

Joker Check out a shirt clip on YouTube called “Did Elvis steal Black People’s music”. Also, “Elvis and the Black community”. Listen to what Muhammed Ali says. And Janes Brown. And many others. You will see for yourself. He was a very remarkable man, a great singer. Then listen to his music and enjoy!

Great tune but that solo...sucks!...Its not even in tune with the major progression... Im surprised cuz Scottie was a great player...But I dont know what happened on this one...You would even think the producer woulda said...Mmmm Scotttie...thats out of key and sucks...work out a different solo

    J.... D....

it was all about feel, Keith Richards of the Stones said of this solo, “I’d have died and gone to heaven just to play like that – how the hell was that done?” and Scotty Moore, “The solos were strictly ad lib. Even now I’ll go back and I can’t play note for note what I did back then.”

Elvis will never be outdone, at least in this galaxy...The greatest of all time!!

  48. M.... ....

His voice got deeper over the years. If you listen to his rehearsal of this in June 1970, he definitely can't hit the high notes as easily as he did here

    M.... ....

guido dee No he didn’t, starting about 1968 you could hear his southern soul whenever he went “Well mmmm” or whenever he hummed. You could hear more of his southern accent.

    M.... ....

MMAFighter38 love you comments on the Elvis his voice had the power in the seventies but the high notes for the rockabilly and the Blues the 50s was the best Happy New Year

    M.... ....

His voice got more powerful in a lot of ways when he got older but it was a way better singer all around when he was younger the fifties Elvis He was within his roots too bad his manager took him away from that late fifties early sixties is definitely when he was at his best

    M.... ....

    It was the drugs

    M.... ....

It depends on whether his voice was in shape. A singer has to exercise his chords regularly or he will lose control especially in the upper registry. But his voice didn’t actually change after he went threw puberty. Nor did yours or mine. He just might not have been keeping his vocal chops up. But when he was in shape, he could hit those high notes perfectly in later years. He had a strong range of over two octaves and perfectly smooth from top to bottom. He could have been an opera star if he’d gone on that direction.

  49. t.... ....

The King would have been 82 today-long live the King.

    t.... ....

Yaw...but you know based on research he may have hoaxed it in 1977

He did't wrote this, well I hardly think he wrote something...

    L.... V....

    Haha! Good one!

    L.... V....

    Wish you didn't wrote that.

    L.... V....

Martha Bradley Elvis didn’t write any songs even though he is credited with some co writing credits. Look it up he never really helped write a song but that doesn’t take away from his talent and awesomeness.

    L.... V....

Say that without crying. Actors dont write scripts aswell. Its all about the delivery

    L.... V....

Master Kota His manager, Tom Parker, would demand half the songwriter royalties for songs that EP recorded. Parker was a hard dealer. But the songwriters went along with the deal because they knew that they still come out ahead if EP recorded their song. It’s pretty lousy from an ethical standpoint but Parker didn’t have any ethics, he was all about the $$.

  52. L.... G....

Elvis was very good, but the great Little Richard is the only King of Rock n Roll.. Peace

    L.... G....

Everybody is entitled to their opinions..But opinions aside Elvis proved himself to be the KING

    L.... G....

Little Richard was great but LIMITED. He couldn't sing Santa Lucia or Don't Be Cruel like a Elvis Presley. Elvis is like Muhammad Ali. The Greatest !

    L.... G....

"Elvis was God-given, there's no other explanation. A Messiah comes around every few thousand years, and Elvis was it this time. He was an integrator, Elvis was a blessing. They wouldn't let black music through. He opened the door for black music. Before Elvis, everything was in black and white. Then came Elvis. Zoom, glorious Technicolor." -Little Richard

    L.... G....

Stop smoking crack Croce Elvis sold billion records that's why he's king and he could song any song with ease little Richard please don't call him king he's king of nothing just like someone inked Justin bieber compared to the king please people u smoking too much crack adios
