Elvis Costello - Someone Else's Heart Lyrics

I got nosy and I read her letters
I read her diary it's the same story and nothing better
The words remind me of someone else's heart
Has gone and left a mark

And the pop music plays
On the local radio
There's people on the streets but no one that I know
And like my heart is now
I know not where they go

Same words different meaning
Same heart different feeling
So much for him so much for her 'cause that's past
Now I know about that someone else's heart

She got nosy and read my letters too
And my notebook surprised to find that
Love is not so new
So we both took
Someone else's heart
And walked it through the dark

A feeling so rich
I turned around to laugh
We had both indulged in each other's past
To find out that our love
Was true enough to last

Same words different meaning
Same heart different feeling
So much for him so much for her 'cause that's past
Now I know about that someone else's heart

(Someone else's heart)
Now I know about that someone else's heart

I LOVE this.....saw it at the Tower In Upper Darby Philly Pa USA 1980?or81.. squeeze opened for Elvis >>>Encore>>> Fricking AWESOME Both Bands on stage & Glenn & Elvis sharing a mic singing this !!! I'm Huge Fan Of Squeeze & Elvis.... seen Elvis 5 times....had tickets for Squeeze in the 90's a side gig they were doing while they were to back up Fleetwood Mac on a Big tour ...Stevie Nicks Fucked Up & Tour was cancelled ( yet another reason I HATE F Mac lame shit )...BUT...on 2/22....I have tickets to see SQUEEZE !!...I'm Andrew Brown's Wife..he got me front row tickets....best gift ever !!.

How indescribably twisted this is, considering Ian MacNabb's revulsion at the despicable crimes of Jimmy Savile. (Ian MacNabb is the author if this song and the leader of the Icicle Works, who first recorded the tune (and had a major hit with it).

This isn't the same song as the Icicle Works version, which was subtitled "Birds Fly" and came out two years after this track was recorded. But yeah, the whole Jimmy Savile thing sounds really gross.

Fuck me, back then Elvis wouldn't have shaken Tony Blackburns hand due to perceived image 'straightness'. Funny how it all pans out, because Tony Blackburn genuinely loved some of the same Black American music Elvis did. Meanwhile Sir Nonce Kiddie Fiddler De-Saville will forever blackburn in hell. Quite rightly

I saw them in concert in NYC together when that song was hot on the radio. Was amazing!

  6. T.... ....

This video is creepy now that it's known that Jimmy molested kids.

Man, I saw Squeeze open for Elvis on this tour 1981 at the Palladium in NYC. Front row center. For one of his encores, Elvis called Glenn out for this duet! Best night of my life!!!

This is much more energetic than the LP version - I like!

MUCH more. It's just ok on the album, this version is on fire!

I remember seeing this when it was on TV. I was more a Squeeze fan than a Costello fan so I was more excited to see Glenn Tilbrook
