Elton John - Take Me To The Pilot Lyrics
If you feel that it's real I'm on trial
And I'm here in your prison
Like a coin in your mint
I am dented and I'm spent with high treason
Is the one danger zone
Take me to the pilot for control
Take me to the pilot of your soul
Take me to the pilot
Lead me through the chamber
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger
Take me to the pilot
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger
Well I know he's not old
And I'm told he's a virgin
For he may be she
But what I'm told is never for certain

Elton John Take Me To The Pilot Comments
Guys, stop talking about sex scene, just enjoy the song ;)
Sing it Elton! Your best work was released in the 70s.
My youth brought me here. Been listening to this album since 1973 (thanks mom).
Also: I think that the "pilot of your soul" is whatever inspires you onward, be it Christ (or whoever), or art or music...it can be anything that inspires you to live.
As a kid I thought it was “Pilate”, which actually makes more sense with the lyrics. And it’s possible EJ had a bit of a Christ complex...
Sounds great! Love this song. Need to put it on FB Video
Tumbleweed Connection in an amazing album too!!!
I just wanna say one thing ... Elton John and John Reid 🚀🤩
Escape at Dannemora?
PeaceButt Just binging now. Had to take an Elton John break.
The show is so good but so creepy.
The "glass eye" is a rifle scope. The pilot is the leader. It's about revolution. As to whether that's literal or metaphorical revolution, well, that's up to you guys.
The best song to put when a girl finally gets in love with you and just sticks her tongue in your throat
x1.25 = *Rocketman OST*
this song will forever remind me of the scene in rocketman... and im not complaining
Jack Black.
having this album when it came out, brought me here, can I get an award for showing up🎶🙌😊❤🤦♀️💖💋
TRY THIS I PROMISE ON THIS SONG I HEARD ONE PART OF THE SONG IN MY LEFT AND ONE IN THE RIGHT
thats called a stereo mix
Thank you Jack Black
One can really hear the influence of the Band on this song. I can imagine Levon singing lead on this.
I'll put my Stamp on That.
*( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)*
How the fuck could someone downvote this
Notice how wonderful and imperfect his voice and piano sounds
Thank GOD, no auto tune
The Retro Decade Revival Project is gonna make sure auto-tune never existed in the first place. Our goal is to bring real entertainment, true talent, pure originality and diversity, old school and more back into the public mainstream, starting with the 1980s. There will be even more people like him with real talent and golden voices.
I was feeling low feeling much better Joe ! Take me to the Pilot of your Soul ! Much love Dear to everyone here !!
you all have such dirty minds and i’m honestly fine with that
The day Elton did John
Stephen King. We Did It Man..we fucking did it!
Let it Be Written
Shane the Shaman
The most unusual but now totally appropriate sex song.
Blue eyed soul.
Take Me Back To The Good Music Today's Music Is Pathetic!
You are so correct Richard I think the worst is metallic heavy metal that is sheer hideous garbage
This is not from that album...
After Rocketman everybody have sex with this song, lol.
@Taylor Lange such as
@MrGabeanator Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Super Sex Magic, Are You Ready For Love, I Knew I Loved You
@Taylor Lange ok
It was a lusty sex scene.
you just ruined the song for me.. yukkk
Take your left headphone and you will hear an acapella version till second 0:25
rocketman inspired me. i wanna fuck someone to this
Stay classy and lady-like now...
How can it be possible that every song by elton john is perfect?
just got back from the movie and now every time I'll hear this song, that scene will play in my mind, cool
whos here after seeing rocketman
@George W. Bush no i've been an elton john for 20 years because of lion king and i've had the privalige of seeing him in concert twice
@MrGabeanator eat my nuts!
Gotta say... didn't love the movie so much. It was fun, but not at all accurate. PLus I wanted to hear my Elton singing, nobody else, ya know?
@Tom Watson yeah i hear ya
I recall Elton John being asked in an interview what the lyrics meant in this song. His reply was priceless: "I literally have no idea."
@P V if you look at the words and see the train of thought, despite Bernie not being conscious of it, the "pilot of your soul" is God.
Take Me to the Pilot has nothing at all in it about sex. But for instance, saying "Like a coin in your mint, I am dented" obviously is directed to the one who created us, and our own inperfection.
@William Dunham Music is whatever you want it to be, art doesnt have one meaning.
Only if you ignore the words can you make it mean anything you want? What is the purpose of writing about something if there is no real meaning? .
@William Dunham To create. Interpretation is all it is. E.g. "The sky is blue," could mean the sky is literally blue, or that the tone is gloomy. Nothing has one meaning in art. Especially when the artist doesn't say there's one.
If you watched rocket man, just close your eyes and know what scene you're seeing when you hear this song.
Was a beautiful scene in the movie. Showing Elton losing his virginity. Yeah, John Reid turned out to be a complete asshole, but Elton didn't know that then, and Taron Egerton is quite proud of that scene.
And you can't tell me Taron Egerton and Richard Madden are hard on the eyes.
Michelle Cazares stop
Franko why should she?
@kms Eggsy X Robb Stark
he did it great an taron too
Taron Egerton brought me here.
This Elton was not really on display in "Rocketman," more's the pity.
Exactly. They had the later, more produced stuff in general. If it gets people to explore the early Elton-Bernie, it will be a good thing.
Este es el elton john que me gusta.
WOW JACK BLACK DID
I'm a stranger in my own nation. I am a living soul and got the pirates of admiralty running the temples for BAAL trying to nail me as a federal employee of their fake corporation.
If you feel that it's real I'm on trial
And I'm here in your prison
Like a coin in your mint
I am dented and I'm spent with high treason

Songwriters: BERNIE TAUPIN,ELTON JOHN
Google's algorithm got it right at "ta" from that graham norton clip
This song has a sick groove! I'm kind of surprised.
El cover de Saturday Night cantada por The Who me trajo aqui
I understand E.... bless all of you who don't understand but YOU WILL when you get to that moment...it's called NERVANA and LIFE and HAPPY!
I hope the movie Rocketman gets more people to listen to this album plus the Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Across the Water albums. Some of the greatest music ever!
The Tumbleweed Connection album might be his best, purest work.
I hope so too. My friend said she only has listened to Taron Egerton sing the songs and I legit dragged her to my computer and made her listen to Elton john. That hurt lol
It got me here so it's a success ;)
Indeed. Where To Now, St. Peter? Forever etched upon my mind. What a great, great pianist and musician is Elton.
The tumbleweed connection was more of his country song sounding songs so if you like that then yeah and I love it
Interviewer: "Sir Elton, what is this song about?"
Elton: "No clue, you'll have to ask Bernie."
Interviewer: "Mr. Taupin?"
Bernie: (shrug)
Your made me the day
Your made me the day
Your made me the day
Nice song to play on piano.
Best EJ LP ever ,his first.
You can play this on piano?
👍🤟
🤟👍
Jack Black.
Jack Black is the reason why I’m here.
"Escape at Dannemora" did an excellent job incorporating random songs at the perfect moments and the perfect scenes!
Grew up on this awesome music and Tumbleweed, stole this CD off my Mum, I should buy one back for her and send it to her, I feel guilty now
You can't play this song quietly, it DEMANDS to be blasted!
The man could do no wrong during the 70s..great, great song
One of my favorite composer/singer/pianist Elton!!
LOVE... this song.
Timeless.
This song is sickclllclckclck
Could barely understand a word he sang back then, but he conveyed so much through his inflections and the piano that it didn't matter.
Elton John, one of my all-time favourites.
Elton's heady '70's days.
Possibly the catchiest chorus ever written
tenks jack black
Love this, very funky !
Blue eyed soul at it's best !
grate!!)))
Classic!!!! If you don’t like this you don’t like music
#999 ;D
Escape At Dannemora brought me here
Me too..great sound track
Escape at Dannemora BROUGHT ME HERE!
@cory carroll 😂😂😂😂😂
me too bro , from hungarian prison (sorrryyy carroll)
Same here.
Same! What a masterpiece ❤❤
ThAt song is perfect as soundtrack on the scene where they start to crash the wall. Generally elton john is to pop for me, (of course i love "your song", a masterpiece) but this "take me to the pilot" is really good
"A glass eigenzone" is a crystalline area defined by eigenvectors. (In linear algebra, an eigenvector or characteristic vector of a linear transformation is a non-zero vector that changes by only a scalar factor when that linear transformation is applied to it.) My best guess anyway
WOW! What a brilliant playlist !! Found completely by accident. Fab - thank you !
"Take Me To The Pilot" was the b side of "Your Song." I bought the 45 when I was 11 years old.
ROCKETMAN was my first i did not know that
well it was a remake but still
my granpa is michal christman
when he was young
my grandpa sang this song guys no lie
absolutely love this song........ and the whole album.......
This is literally the only good Elton John song ever.
Josh Done HAHAHAHAAHHA good joke
I know your joking 😉
Thank you for this tune Jack Black!!!
My dad would dance to this song. My mom would dance to I'm still standing. They were in 40s 50s at that time,
Triple R2017 - a big smile from me!
This is too fun to play on the piano!
This song is timelessly badass in some unique way.
The begining of one of the greatest rock stars in history. I was at his thanksgiving day 1974 Madison Square Garden concert, with the john Lennon encore. Amazing
This guy is still touring! But sadly not for long. He claims this is his last tour. If I were him, I would build a big mansion in the middle of a National Forest and live the rest of my days surrounded by wildlife, expert farmers (marijuana horticulturalists), and naked chicks (or in his case roosters).
Mark Gelbart he has children.
@Mythagoras Why would the environment I suggested be bad for children? He can hire nannies and tutors to come out and live with him there.
Blue eyed soul at it's best, pity we can't hear similar sound now.
So underrated. One of my favorites
Paul Buckmaster arranged strings on this and Moonlight Mile by The Rolling Stones, etc.
Anyone else get goosebumps within the first 30 seconds??
Music legend, gotta love some Elton in the morning.
If I had had my own church, this song would be played fairly regularly.
Nice thing about a song like this, it gives you a lot of freedom to project.
The vast majority of Elton John's songs were either rated properly (excellent) or underrated...this kick ass song was somehow lost among the others!
And now Jack Black has finally fixed that problem.

That was a lot of transcribing! Thank you Cerph! :)
I love this song
One of Elton's finest!
It's about the essence of his voice. Elton John is a true chameleon.
Had this on the Best Of Elton John cassette that McDonald's was selling back in the early 90s. Some good songs on that tape, this song along with Madman Across The Water, Levon, Friends, Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters. I listened to that tape so much it wore out.
I challenge anyone to not recognize this song in seven notes.
