I heard this song the night my girlfriend broke up with me. You see I lived in the United States and my ex was going to school in the UK, we had made this amazing plan of going to travel all of Europe and Asia over the summer. I left the states and we met up in Londons airport and flew straight to Europe, but unfortunately she broke up with me 1 week into the trip while in Amsterdam. We flew back to London that very day and I stayed in her apartment that night (my first time seeing her apartment) since my flight to Asia was the next morning anyway. That night I heard this song while laying in bed in the room next to hers and it was such an amazing song to listen to but geez did it hurt.... the reason why is because we had talked and talked of the amazing nights we would have in her apartment overlooking Londons city almost exactly like the song was describing and I was finally there....except we were not together anymore. Hearing this when she was 20 feet away from me in the next room on the last night I'd ever see her hit me right in the heart. It was hard for me to let go of this image in my head of living free and young without a care just like our young hopeless romantic minds had always dreamed of and spoke of all this time before our trip began, right before we went to Asia to finish traveling the world. The lyrics really embodied what could've and should've been but never happened... I'll never forget her. We ended on alright terms but she was the most adventurous and free spirited girl I had ever met. Anyways, life goes on, live and learn and prepare for the next adventure.
